@@jagth8138 I strongly agree. If you think about it, what ultimately makes us human is the fact that we were raised by and in close relations with other humans; the way we think is the way we were accustomed to think. Just like that, an animal, if raised by a human with the proper amount of attention and respect (after all, it falls on us, since we are the only ones having that liberty), can be influenced to the extent they start to think and act akin to us. I got a far infra red lamp and he adores it. It’s the most relaxed I’ve seen him for years. But looking up FHS give me more tools to look into to make him less stressed.
regarding "Back ouch", does she have a button form grooming? Particularly given her age, she might want help with that, trying "pets" first, and then "ouch" when maybe a comb is what's needed?
Bunny the dog was able to say ouch and paw I believe. The owner finally understood and she had a huge thorn like spike in between her pads. Considering Billies age a vet visit f there hasn’t been one recently would be a prudent idea.
Her mom explained in another comment that she has a medical condition that makes touch very painful during a flare up. In that case, it makes sense to want to be distracted or use something that feels nice like catnip.
I wonder if by "ouch" she meant not pain but a slight itch or an unpleasant tickle. See what she does right after she says it, scratching the top of her head?
I know these are old and everything, but just wanted to say watching this sweet little kitty of yours makes me melt. Adorable, intelligent. Slightly makes me glad my cats cant talk lol sometimes I wonder what our animals would say other times yeah lol
To the people so surprised Billi said "where" after losing her toy, its not surprising, cats are insanely smart, and giving them a form of communication just boosts your bond with your cat and helps you understand.
I can not overstate how incredible it is to see a cat properly communicate with a human. Animals are intelligent, they just aren’t taught human knowledge, and this proves their intelligence to me ^^
“Back ouch”. Me too Billi. This time of year is the worst for back pain. Cold fronts make the pressure change and make all those joints in the spine hurt SO much! Also, it must be so amazing for Billi to say these things. The first time my kid fell down and I asked him where it hurt and he pointed to his leg while wailing “kneeeeeeeee!” I almost cried myself, but from relief and joy. It was just such a weight off that suddenly my baby could tell me where it hurts, even if it’s something as simple as a scraped knee. I didn’t have to depend on body language and other clues to guess anymore. That would be so amazing if my cat could do the same thing. My last dog died of cancer (thankfully at an old age) and I keep thinking that we might’ve caught it sooner if he could have told us his belly hurt. And even on the milder side, it must be such a relief to be able to ease the ache for Billi when her joints hurt.
Poor Billy! I totally get the back pain, unfortunately -_- I hope mousey truly does make it feel better! (Also loved the sass/confusion with the "hmm what?")
That is so helpful that she can say she doesn't feel good. So many cats endure pain because their owners just don't know when their cat is trying to say they aren't feeling good

@@BilliSpeaks do her flare ups tend to be worse when you leave for work or start bad when you first get home then improve? This will probably get buried in the comments. I feel compelled to mention this. If she really has back pain it could be her kidneys. I would air on the side of caution and get some bloodwork done. She is at the age where it’s a good idea to get it done anyway.

I got a far infra red lamp and he adores it. It’s the most relaxed I’ve seen him for years. But looking up FHS give me more tools to look into to make him less stressed.
My gosh this cat is smart. I sure do hope her back is ok!
Billi: "Why use many words, when few words do trick?"
regarding "Back ouch", does she have a button form grooming? Particularly given her age, she might want help with that, trying "pets" first, and then "ouch" when maybe a comb is what's needed?
Bunny the dog was able to say ouch and paw I believe. The owner finally understood and she had a huge thorn like spike in between her pads. Considering Billies age a vet visit f there hasn’t been one recently would be a prudent idea.
@@jaeshasway Billi's owner is a vet, I think she takes good care of her.
Billi's mom is a vet, she's in good hands.
Maybe she could give Billi a heatpack?
Every time Billi presses the "mom" button I'm just waiting for: "Mom. Mom. Mommy. Muuum. Mom! ..."
Does Billi need an 'are we there yet?' button?
haha! 😂 one time, like so many years ago, my brother had a ringtone of that 😂
Back pets!!!!
Maybe the pets help against her pain, like a massage 💆. Its great that she can let you know when she's hurt, so smart! (of both of you)
Her mom explained in another comment that she has a medical condition that makes touch very painful during a flare up. In that case, it makes sense to want to be distracted or use something that feels nice like catnip.
I wonder if by "ouch" she meant not pain but a slight itch or an unpleasant tickle. See what she does right after she says it, scratching the top of her head?
She was smiling when you were giving her back pets
I have back ouch too Billie, I'll try mousey and see if that helps me as well.
Aww... Back pain sucks!
try catnip instead
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Well catnip is a muscle relaxant so...
Did it work?
I know these are old and everything, but just wanted to say watching this sweet little kitty of yours makes me melt. Adorable, intelligent. Slightly makes me glad my cats cant talk lol sometimes I wonder what our animals would say other times yeah lol
To the people so surprised Billi said "where" after losing her toy, its not surprising, cats are insanely smart, and giving them a form of communication just boosts your bond with your cat and helps you understand.
There is a time and a place for everything, including back pets.
"where mousey"🥺
8/10, obedient human, still no use of "Mad"
She's still a cat. "Hello! Look at my butt!"
"Mom. Look." [shows butt]
Omg! She's getting so good at communicating!
Have you considered getting a “Please make an appointment with my acupuncturist” button?
So can she do my nephews homework for him? She’s much more communicative than he is 😂
As if cats were not demanding enough without speech. Now your teaching them to verbalize orders.
About the catnip bunny: I think Billi has learned that “bunny” is a stuffed animal.
I am completely enamored with this cat!!! Sweet baby girl! Who wouldn’t want a daughter like her?!!! 🙏🤷♀️🐕❤️
Stiff back, hurts in the morning or after a long nap.
The "Hmm? What" was so direct, "You asked a question but what did you ask?" wow!
At the vet: "so what's wrong"
"She told me her back hurt"
The way that you instantly looked genuinely concerned for Billi when they said their back was hurting- *omg* that was truly adorable.
"Hmm what?" SHE'S ASKING QUESTIONS
Cats often look puzzled at what we mean, so it makes sense they'd ask a lot of questions.
I love how the owner is so caring-
she seemed so concerned for billing when he pressed back ouch, she seems like a really good owner. billi is lucky 😁
Reading the description and "Her favorite word is mad" kills me.
Back-
“Back pets?”
*I suffered a terrible spinal injury mom please help!!!*
Poor Billy! I totally get the back pain, unfortunately -_- I hope mousey truly does make it feel better! (Also loved the sass/confusion with the "hmm what?")
She asked "Where".
O . o
I. Am. Going. Bonkers.
Poor baby. I hope her back is not ouching her too badly.
That is so helpful that she can say she doesn't feel good. So many cats endure pain because their owners just don't know when their cat is trying to say they aren't feeling good
She's so cute, how can you resist petting her is beyond me😭 Shooo shoo Shooo cute😭 And her name is perfect... Billi means cat in Hindi 😭 I just can't handle it anymore... Her cute baby face is killing me.
Poor baby, hope her back ouch feels better soon!
I love Billi and your videos :) She’s my daily dose of smiles! I’m so inspired and am planning on trying this with my cats. (My family thinks I’m crazy... but Billi is quickly changing their minds ;)
She's self medicating her back pain with catnip.
Gabapentin really helps my mom and I with anxiety and pain. I know you're a vet, I just figured its always good to hear what all works that other people have used. Hope her flare up goes away soon. She is a little doll.
I’m glad it’s helpful! It didn’t seem to reduce her flares at all, but it’s definitely helpful for some cats.
@@BilliSpeaks do her flare ups tend to be worse when you leave for work or start bad when you first get home then improve? Kinda crazy you could become a case study on pain management in aging cats which would be so helpful cuz cats don't have nearly as many pain management options as dogs or humans. What is your opinion on cbd and cats?
@@colleenshaw1607 I haven't noticed that correlation, but in some cats it's been suggested that anxiety plays a role so it's not out of the realm of possibility. I think it's great we're doing more research on CBD, but it's too early for me to form an opinion on it's effectiveness yet. I'm interested in all the research though!
@@BilliSpeaks thanks so much for responding ❤ i know myself as a human with a few various pain conditions that my pain can be worse with my anxiety and that if i address the anxiety my treatments do more heavy lifting in making me feel better. It would be an interesting hypothesis to test in other mammals. i hope some day more research into pain management for cats will be a thing. Also, any thoughts on a FAQ video or a short Q and A?
@@colleenshaw1607 I have a few FAQ vids under my Training Playlist, if there are other things you'd like to see in a Q and A video let me know!
I don't know HOW I found this channel but I am glad I did.. amazing.
When my back hurts, it’s often times because I need exercise too. Billie knows a good routine :D
Good point! I didn't think of that as what she was asking. I just thought it was something she liked. Makes sense with my back injury i often have to stand up or walk around
I love how now we can just get buttons and train animals to use them and understand them it’s also super adorable
Imagine having several cats and watching them talk to eachother.
I have two, and a dog. I plan on getting buttons for them. We'll see what happens 😆
Love watching their lil paws pressing the buttons!!
Maybe “hurt” is not pain, but she is using it to also mean itchy. So she wants back scratches.....
^^^
That's plausible. She may not know the difference between "ouch" and "itch", and would explain why she was asking for something to do with her back but didn't have the word for it yet.
@@irdmoose She could try adding a "scratch" button!
Oh I guess she knows the difference between back pets and back ouch.
@@plok7533 That's exactly what I was thinking. Billi might be trying to differentiate between pets and scratches.
“Hmm?”
“Hmm, what?”
I love that little dialogue. Was kinda reverse. It’s like she was asking what are you trying to say or ask her. 💙
Back ouch. I know the feeling, Billi! :(
You do an incredible job with the non-intrusive video editing! I really like how you combined these videos as well.
Aw thanks! I’m learning as I go, so glad it looks ok 😊
@1:10 if you look at the side of Billi's face you can see that she's smiling. 😁
I noticed this about my cat. You can tell whether he's frowning, neutral, or smiling if you look at his mouth from the side / profile view of his head
Shes so precious I want to cuddle her so badly. She reminds me of my childhood cat Penny
"Back ouch", oh dear! Feel better soon, Billi
These talking cat and dog videos are among the most fascinating yet uncomfortably futuristic sights I've ever seen.
Hmnmmm what? Bille are so inteligent!
Awe bless her little heart! Her back hurts 💔 I'd love for my cat to be able to tell me when he is in pain!
Man i love that cat!
I don't know what to say. Every time I see this cat communicating with the buttons I am just amazed. I love how she moved over to an area where she could stretch out and get her pets. lol. It makes so much sense too.
Buttons can be really useful if your cat is trying to tell you something is wrong 😊
How??? Just freaking HOW???? I can't even get my dang cat to sit still so I can clip his nails yet here you are having an elegant conversation with yours. Your patience must be godly
Hello Everyone, This is your daily dose of Billy
I'd love to see Billi's vet reaction to his cat. In fact with how special this cat is I'd advocate for in home treatment to understand the cat's needs.
am I mistaken or is she getting faster and faster in her expressing process??!!
-hmmm?
-hmmm what?
or when she ran to where immediately
This cat has a power that so many animals in human care do not have. It really is amazing.
in the beginning i thought you just show us the good "hits" but billi really is pushin the buttons so intentionally.. its scary :D
I am blown away!!!! What attunement 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
my back ouch too billi 😔👍🏻
Just the face alone gives me so much serotonin ❤️❤️❤️❤️
AHHHH ✨❤️✨❤️✨❤️✨✨✨✨
This will probably get buried in the comments. I feel compelled to mention this. If she really has back pain it could be her kidneys. I would air on the side of caution and get some bloodwork done. She is at the age where it’s a good idea to get it done anyway.
Check out the video description 😊 (I’m a vet and she gets regular check ups)
@@BilliSpeaks I saw the scrubs. Apparently I failed miserably at reading comprehension, Im actually a little concerned. haha I had no idea you are a vet, she certainly is in good hands. Thats awesome. ....and Im slightly jealous. ;) With 7 cats 2 of them senior and 2 with birth defects life would be less stressful. lol
I could not resist not picking her up and cuddling and kissing her endlessly . I love kissing paws and noses. Especially when she said mom .
If she's prone to pain a hot water bottle or heat mat to lie on might ease some of it. Fairly easy to find online.
This channel is always such a treat! Really makes my day when i see one! Keep it up and thanks for the awesome content!
Feel better Billi!
Pets are so much smarter than people give credit for! I've never trained my dog for certain things, but when I say "Puppy, picture?" She looks at me and holds still, sometimes does a big ole smile. I think she knows how pretty she is and it's going to her head a bit xD
I wonder if the animals trained to do this get annoyed when they want to communicate but are away from the buttons.
Imagine going on a walk with your dog who uses these buttons
You know he hates being without them, so you set up a system where the buttons are on something with wheels, most likely a small wagon or something. Now your dog can talk on the walk.
I wish I could have a cat, but my dad is allergic. They are so smart. Billi absolutely makes my day :)
Have you tried massage with her? Your being a vet, I assume you know how? Or does massage aggravate her?
With FHS touch is exaggerated, so even a light caress can feel unbearable. I try not to touch her on her back when she’s having flare ups.
@@BilliSpeaks But when she's not having an episode, have you tried giving her massage; or does it trigger a flare up?
@@BilliSpeaks some of my kitties have gotten mad when they found out I knew how to do that, and "why haven't you done this before?!?"; others have just loved it. Not telling you what to do; I know you know her best. 😘
People say you are being trained by Billi but I think this us something great between the 2 of you. I've had both cats and dogs and love them both..but some cats do have a mind of their own so for you to get her to understand if you press this button it means food that's incredible!! Don't let the negativity even enter your mind!! Enjoy Billi and the buttons and keep posting!!
Do you have a button for scratch/itch? In case Billi has itchies and need scritches?
I have one for pets!
@@BilliSpeaks I know you have pets, but scritches are DIFFERENT than pets!!!
I think its already fascinating enough for a cat to be able to press one of those buttons, and know what it means. But i think its extra fascinating for a cat to be able to combine them for specific requests and information it wants to give to its owner.
