Just ordered mine for my 200 series, can’t wait to get them on, going to do a video myself as I’ll do the work myself. My trucks done 411k kms on the original rotors, 2 years on the road towing a camper you can tell they have done those k’s.
@@TripInAVan been driving with the upgraded brakes for a couple weeks now, love them. This will be a must do to all vehicles I ever own now. Cheers for the video again mate
Good stuff... hubby's a grease monkey by trade & we upgraded our Patrol to DBA T3's & trying out the new DBA XP brake pads to suit ... they pull up awesome! Bendix are brilliant too... usually use them in our workshop but thought we'd try out the DBA's & extremely happy so far too!
Hi, nice job, nice vid. Bendix just came out with the kit, to late for me.... had to go the dba way 2 years ago, totally happy with that , is the first thing todo when you get a new used vehicle.. Braided brake hoses still todo... Bendix does not sale them separately they wrote to me.. so guess next set spare brake pads buying 2 set for test is the go. See how the pad and front rotor wear goes next 20k and please let us know. Cheers
Hi Justin - would love to get an update on the brake upgrade now that you're six months and quite a few kms on them. Any dramas? What sort of pad wear/life did you get? Cheers and happy new year ;-)
Good video and great work by the mechanics. The justification to go Bendix would be so much more believable if you had time to do some before and after breaking distance checks. As it is, the justification is pretty subjective. Love your channel keep up the good work.
HeliMicky yeah thanks, a bit more science. The comment about larger diameter tires needing more stopping power only holds true if the wheel rpm is constant. But we all know that a larger diameter tire going at 80 kmh is rotating slower than a standard tire doing the same speed. I’m a big fan of supporting Australian businesses and Bendix in Ballarat deserves praise.
Trip In A Van - RoadTrip Australia Series No probs and understand you rely on the sponsors to support you with the facts on the upgrade. Wasn’t meant to be a serious criticism just feedback for you to consider for future. To repeat, love your channel and your family provides inspiration for many of us would-be travelers.
How about letting people know what the total build cost of the vehicle was to be able to tow and carry the weight or a price without the canopy for those interested.
Love your vids and the big 200 rig. Can you say a rough cost estimate of the cruiser without the tinny and assuming you paid for any sponsored item. Must be approx $200k +?
All Ozi Adventures Why not mate? He could just say if you would like to copy my setup it’s going to cost you in the region of $250k or whatever. I obviously know a bit here an there is sponsored which is obviously fine. Just would like to know a ball park figure for the entire rig. I don’t think it’s a massive secret.
Fishing with Frighty yeah cheers mate! Nothing to hide regarding price. It’s easily 230k +.. we are super lucky to work with some great brands who help out💪
Trip In A Van - RoadTrip Australia Series. Hi, I just wonder why so many people asking for the rig build cost ! Everything cost us hard earned money. Yes, a bit of sponsorship included everyone knows and nobody should be jealous about. Even at full retail it’s considerable cheap. Depends on from which angle you look at it. Neighbors wife just bought a brand new G63 AMG fully loaded... listen to that price ringed a bell in my ears. Cheers
Hey Justin, i have read lots on the slotted rotors and most imply they are not recommended for 4X4 in case small rocks and debris get caught between the rotor and pad. Have you had any issues with the slotted rotors? Cheers John
Hi , probably not going to get an answer from this , but will try anyway. Does anyone know if you need Toyota Techstream with OBD2 connection to fully replace the brake fluid to get the ABS soloniods working and pumping. Or is it just ok to bleed the brakes using the pneumatic brake bleeder shown in the clip? I would imagine so because its not as if you are introducing air higher up in the system, your just pulling new fluid down out of the resiviour. However in the last shot of them using the pneumatic brake bleeder its not connected to the air compressor , but the sytem seems like it is under pressure to make it flow.
Out of curiosity why such a big price difference between the front and rear kits if essentially the same thing? I assume bigger rotors and pads for the front.
Trip In A Van - RoadTrip Australia Series hey Justin, that is your useage while towing right mate? Could you also share around town and on the highway not towing? Cheers mate.
Good to see a shop using torque wrenches on wheel nuts etc, shows how professional they are. Great info thanks 👍🏼 more tech vids please
While the camera is on lol. But yeh nothing worse than wheel nuts on too tight.
We run a workshop & have had a couple in just finger tight!
@@kombigal432 I've had wheel studs snapped off with a rattle gun. It's crazy what some workshops do.
@@OutbackTouring spewin... must use truck setting on a car!

Good stuff mate, great idea to upgrade instead of fitting factory ones again🤙

excellent vid, by far the most important vehicle upgrade anyone can do..
to me, quality brakes shocks and tyres are a non negotiable..
Hey mate, was a pleasure doing the work on the big rig and awesome meeting you. Safe travels Blake.
Blake_GT thanks mate, cheers for ya time 💪
I did front only on my 200 series, DBA T2's... best thing ever.. better when towing my van.
Good aren't they... had them on my Patrol but recently upgraded to the T3's.
Very interesting as usual Justin. Mackay looked beautiful, well done! Roy & Cheryl UK.
Awesome seeing you guys in my town!! It’d be awesome to meet you guys and say hi :) always have my eye out looking for your sweet set-up

Great mate keep it up love the vids.
Love the videos guys!!!
Wondering why they didn't do this when they did the dyno tune as well. Saves you coming back again. Unless wasn't in stock.
first thing id put on the 200 series .. after a decent airbox haha and a egr 7mm hole plate
first thing id put on the 200 would be a for sale sign, & then buy an 80 series..

Yeah I’d love to do more, but we are very limited in our ability to film any stopping distance scenario as we are solo travellers 🤙

Hi Justin.....was the calliper upgrade an option on front and rear given your vehicle and van weight?
Another vary informative vid, keep up the great work. Where about did you stay in Mackay?
Mitchell Robert just at Andergrove
Hey What is the brand of the rims you now have on the 200. They look great
Nick Sommerlad they are King Hurricanes
Thanks for that
Nick Sommerlad no drama

The cruiser + ute conversion + gvm upgrade + canopy+ performance mods etc etc? Must actually be nearly 250k

Is there any reason rotors are different size from GXL to VX? Are they bigger on higher grade VX and Sahara?
Lawrence Proctor yeah bigger rotors, they run 18” wheels standard I think

When’s the rest of the 200 series build vids coming out
Does any of the upgrades that you have done affect your Dealer Warranty
All of em, I have pretty much no warranty
The brake upgrade is fine though. Won’t affect warranty
Looks like you’re in your way towards Cairns and then Cape york?
Absolutely
Trip In A Van - RoadTrip Australia Series May bump into u guys around cairns then.
Nice those will help ya stop :)
Surprised you didn’t upgrade the calipers ?
Was break upgrade not a requirement of GVM upgrade?
It would have been interesting to do an actual brake test to "see" some of the difference. Example 60-0 in meters between standard and modified.
Rick Gainsmith It would have been good, but I don’t have the controlled environment to do that sort of testing
Out of curiosity why such a big price difference between the front and rear kits if essentially the same thing? I assume bigger rotors and pads for the front.
what.twice the price for the front.. rip off.. i bought drilled slotted rotors, ceramic pads.for my f250. $500..delivered.. s/s lines. $80..
Check out Mr buckaroonie second video of Brampton. Banana filling. With the dreaded chef. Yum
No upgrade for the booster.
booster,?.whats a booster.. go look at an f250.. no booster..
Hey Justin just wondering how the cruiser is on fuel?? Have been told from friends that they are pretty thirsty but was wondering what your opinion is
A car is thirsty depending on how you drive it
Ours is averaging 21.8litres per 100km over 5500km👌

Peta Duncan this is the usage averaged over 5500km. 70% towing
