    This movie and Kickboxer are the main reason why I started doing martial arts. It had a huge influence on me. Around that time there were a lot of martial arts movies coming out, which was really cool. Ofcourse not all of them were good, but what a great era to grow up in!

    • @Skyknight12
      @Skyknight12 2 года назад +1

      And let me guess. All of those movies involved white guys learning to do martial arts better than the Asians who invented and practiced them for centuries.
      Now where have we seen this before? Oh yeah, that's basically the script of every martial arts movie made in Hollywood.

    • @KiLLaB070
      @KiLLaB070 2 года назад +5

      @@Skyknight12 Good guess, but you're wrong lol. I don't judge people by their nationality or skin color. Like Bruce Lee said (who isn't white): Under the sky there is but one family, it's just so that people are different. I train with all sorts of different people from different cultures and we get along real good. Maybe you should try to look at what we have in common as people instead of what the differences are. Have a good one.

    • @Skyknight12
      @Skyknight12 2 года назад +7

      @@KiLLaB070 Funny that you should bring up Bruce Lee.
      Did you know that Bruce Lee, a literal Chinese martial arts expert, lost the role of a Shaolin monk to David Carradine - a white guy who at that time had no knowledge of martial arts?
      And don't get me started on Iron Fist.
      This basically is how Hollywood treats Asians and always has. I didn't say that you judge people by their race but the films that you speak so glowingly about that the people who wrote them and made money off of them do just that.
      So much for that one family under the sky, eh?

    • @gonzalo20000
      @gonzalo20000 Год назад

      @@Skyknight12 And who the fuck cares? It is not as if those Asians are invincible with their martial arts, the fact is that oriental martial arts have been highly overrated by Hollywood, making them very "cool" when in real life it is not so, and it is not that effective against western or MMA boxers.
      You also seem like the typical Woke with all his hatred towards "white". You are that typical toxic person of internet, who only seeks hate and fight.

      It's also the faces Bruce Lee used to make. JCVD stops making those after a few films, but they became such a cultural phenomenon with Lee. They should have taken out the kick, that Chung Li was just standing there, and JVD kicked him over his head.

      Cannon Films also had a number of considerable big budget flops like Superman 4, Over the Top, and Masters of The Universe so I'm sure this film helped them to some degree.

    Thank you Van Damme for this amazing final fight scene and for all the amazing movies you have made over your incredible career. You have always been my childhood idol and if it weren’t for you I would have never trained martial arts. This bloodsport final fight scene is amazing on so many levels. The music combined with all the amazing kicks is just a recipe for greatness and always gives me goosebumps even after watching it for the millionth time. Respect to Mr Van Damme!

    Best part of this whole scene is from 7:16-7:33 with the camera panning around both of them behind the judges heads as they stalk each other..The music playing is pure fantasy like out of some video game.I saw this twice in the theatre at 15 and to this day when I watch this scene I can just smell the 1.50 popcorn and 2.00 sodas and imagine my best friend from then sitting next to me on a Saturday afternoon in 1988…
