I always had a bit of an issue w/ Allison blaming Harlan for Claire not existing. Even if Harlan didn't kill their moms, there's still no guarantee that Sparrow Universe Allison would have ever met Patrick and had Claire.
It was pure Viktor had something that she didn't have a child(as he wanted to raise Harlan with his gf) and thus it was if I can't have it you can't have it mentality and really nothing more it was never about Allison's mother not being alive.
Yeah, Allison brings up Claire when she wants to justify killing Harlan, but whenever she talks about why she's angry at Viktor, Claire is out of the discussion; it's always "you lied to me," "you need to apologize for lying," "how dare you betray my trust." She even interrupts Viktor listing out the things that the two of them needed to apologize for to bring up the lies when they're reconciling in the 10th episode, when Viktor was clearly about to mention the fact that she killed Harlan (and he just lets it drop because he's one of the least confrontational people in the universe). This is not to say that she doesn't care about Claire (that's obviously not true; she does), but when it comes to why she did what she did, like. It's because Viktor was the only one in the group she actually fully trusted at that point--the only person who agreed to help her get Claire back--and Viktor betrayed that trust by lying to her, to save (from Allison's perspective) an outsider. She might have done something similar even if the incident had been something less horrific. Never mind that Viktor has always felt like an outsider in the Umbrella Academy. Allison didn't want to kill Viktor, because he was still family, but Harlan--someone Viktor clearly cared deeply about--was right there, and killing him was even something she could justify to herself as a moral act (bringing the Umbrellas and Sparrows together).
My theory RE Ben/Jennifer is both Bens knew a girl called Jennifer and she somehow ended up in a life or death situation but Umbrella Ben (shown to be empathetic/caring/not a douche) sacrificed himself to protect Jennifer, dying in the process while Sparrow Ben (raised to look out for number 1 - himself) let her die but in the process got his scar and demotion.
Same! Tho my theory has one difference, which is that Umbrella Ben (is a douche) and Sparrow Ben (a far bigger douche) were similar if not the same person up until that mission, S!Ben makes a lot of statements about how he needs to be a Sparrow and it’s all he has, and part of this is major Reg parenting problems, but certain lines made it feel like he was justifying something, maybe it makes Jennifer’s death worth something to him. He’s clearly still dwelling on it. Maybe the situation was him or Jennifer and Reginald promoted a team and loyalty that was never broken, and S!Ben wasn’t gonna be the first to break it, he was gonna be loyal and he chose himself, and spends the rest of his life diving into Sparrow work to justify it. Umbrella Ben on the other hand, had a sibling who stood on the outside and another who already betrayed Reg and ran from the group, their cohesiveness was in the dirt so he’d have been more likely to disobey, and then die for it.
My suspicion is that Sparrow Ben was specifically told by Reginald that he could resurrect Jennifer in the same way Allison was told she could resurrect Claire, as long as he made it to Number 1. He just didn't come through in the end, so he didn't get the nod from Sparrow Reginald.
@@MayvaAva the douche part for umbrella Ben seems less likely since from what is displayed in season 1 with the bank robbery scenes of them as children he is very unenthusiastic about harming anyone he is shown to more reserved and gentle when it comes to the idea of harming people. And since he was known as the sweet one or the one who held them altogether since they started to disband and distance themselves from one another after he died he couldn't have been a douche up until his the incident that caused his death.
One of the highlights of this season was Klaus and Five's relationship. Their little road trip was amazing, and the karaoke scene really cute. I hope we see more of them in season 5 Edit : Next is season 4, my bad. A part of my brain is still stuck on Stranger Things
Klaus and his relationships with the others is always a highlight. Watching him get manipulated by Reggie was heartbreaking though... even if he is immortal now
Old 5 was probably the one who pushed the button in the last reboot and that’s why he’s missing an arm and still had the tattoo. And the briefcase technology was most likely based on 5’s teleportation ability. That would also explain why Allison was still messed up at the very end. Cause she pressed the button this time.
That makes a lot of sense, especially since five hesitated before getting on the sigil, maybe in the alternative universe he didn't stand on it and Allison did
Late, but I just watched it. My take from the scene is that five time travelled in another timeline and ditched them there and that's why he kept his lost arm and the tattoo for the rest of his life and why he gave those advices to five. Maybe also why he created the commission.
Alison really bothered me from the second she went to look for her daughter. even if the mother hadnt died, how on earth could her daughter exist if she'd never been in the umbrella academy? her lack of understanding of time shenanigans upsets me.
I thought the same. Wait, how is this genetically identical child live innthis home and how is Allison able to enter. the house. If she didn't exist (as the story tells us) Wouldn't there be a completely different set of people living in this house.
@@Rockin_Art The part that was weird to me was Patrick still living there but just having.... some other Black woman for a wife..........okay, he has a type I guess. But yeah, should have just been complete strangers.
@@suzygirl1843 "Has". Please. I always get so confused when someone says "Had" or "Was" when talking about someone I know/think is still alive. Then I have to run and check if they are still alive and didn't die without me noticing.
People give Luther a lot of crap for being a lovable goof. It's a nice change of pace from the usual heroes we see with a no nonsense, assertive, maverick leader.
honestly I don't understand what Allison was expecting in the first place. Any small change in the timeline could've prevented Allison from having a child with Patrick. And even if her daughter did exist, most likely second Allison and Patrick would also exist and probably don't want our Allison in their lives.
Definitely! The whole time she was on her way home I was confused because if she had never been adopted and made apart of the Umbrella Academy why would she think any aspect of her life would be the same?? Like even if Harlan hadn’t killed everyone’s mom her life would have been completely different.
I feel like really weird about the Allison upset about her child thing, because it was already kind of shown that she was barely there for her child and she got annoyed by her child asking questions and rumor her to sleep. It felt very possessive and very narcissistic but not very loving, she just wants the child to exist she doesn't want to spend time with the child is how she's come across.
this is what I thought, at first she think Claire didn't exist because of butterfly effect, but then Klaus bring up about their mother's dead before they even born, this made her thinks maybe Claire can still exist if she was exist, but this thought simply because she denied her child nonexistent in the first place. this why Lila said you need to have focus when you time jump, I think she means to keep look forward, while Allison keep looking back
i always remember this plot point in the time traveling movie “about time” where the time traveler can’t change events that happened before the birth of one of his children because that would mean the child conceived would be different every time he returns, as conception is basically the union of two random cells, so each trip will result in a random child every time. I imagined this is at least what would happen to Allison’s child, which is why it’s so confusing that Ray is there and Claire too. This is so impossible that makes me think that this new universe is all fake and temporary, not really a reset but an alternate reality of sorts.
The thing for me is: IDGAF about Claire. We have seen this girl in what? One flashback? I don't know her, and now Alisson is all desperate about her and I just can't care. This makes everything that Alisson done even worse because it feels like there isn't that much weight. It would be way different if Claire was a kid we actually knew. I care much more about Stanley. He was a real character with a really cool dynamic between him and Diego. He deserves the world.
Honestly Allison didn't GAF abt her either, she was living her life in S2 without her for years. Her wanting Claire so desperately in S3 was a new to me
Ik I’m a year late but yes I agree! Especially because Allison had a year to make a whole new child tbh..like she ain’t never expressed her love for Claire before this season 😂😂😂
@@celestia_0894I’m confused. wtf was she supposed to do? Just not live at all? Alison deserved to be criticized, but the issue I have is that I knew people were gonna come up with random reasons to make her look as bad as possible, instead of accepting she is a person with good and bad parts.
One detail a lot of people missed is that when Reggie is operating the reset machine, the screen shows the sigil and the squares on the sigil starts to light up one by one as he was tuning the settings on the machine. After Alison killed Reggie and was going to push the reset button, you can see the sigil have all 6 squares lighted up fully with the 7th square not lighten up. Maybe that's the reason why Sloane is missing at the end?
@@dorrolorro I personally think the reason why Allison is the only one with wounds and blood is because she is in a completely new different timeline or space of some sort, because I'm guessing that's the deal she made with Reggie: reset the universe but she being in a timeline where she can have both her daughter and Ray at the same time.
I think my feelings about S3 will hinge on what they do with S4. If Allison doesn't experience consequences to her actions I will completely give up on the show
Viktor was an asshole as well, why are u not complaining about him? Can't understand people who complain about Allison and nothing about Viktor. Both were assholes.
I loved this season but I did hate what they did to Alison because she had a lot of great character writing this season…until the Luther scene in which I feel like everything after didn’t hit as hard and it sucks because I could see why Alison is angry and the “I heard a rumor you were happy” scene does so much for her but it feels cut short now cause of what she did.
I highly concur with the above points! I empathised with Allison, and understood why she was lashing out at everyone around her. But her sexual assault on Luther was disgusting, and inexplicably never brought up again, and she ultimately betrays her siblings to get her family back. Also, I wish that the Sparrows had been fleshed out more. They were built up as a major threat, only for yet another apocalypse to be the primary antagonist.
In season 1 episode 8 in the beginning of the episode when they show Allison's backstory and you hear her I heard a rumor she made and you hear at the end she said " I heard a rumor that you love me" so this isn't the first assault Alison made she basically did that to get her husband. Also I think Sloane was part of Allison deal in the end
@@ShinySephiroth1 Patrick a victim too. But what I think is Allison is stuck in a simulation at the end and the others is a different universe or timeline.
That would be seriously messed up of she dealed Sloane away. If she already getting her husband and child back, why would it matter that Luther and Sloane are together.
I loved this season. Was it a mess? Yes. But were the characters still spectacular? Yes. It may not be as good as the other two BUT I will still be rewatching all my favorite moments on repeat. Also Five got to say f*ck and that was grand.
Agreed, while it's certainly chaotic, and juggles far too many characters and plot points, the main siblings still have moments to shine, and remind us of why we loved the show in the first place.
For me the characters are horrendous. And what's worse - tiring. Lila is annoying as hell and her scenes with Diego with their non-stop lovey-dovey bickering made me scream at the screen. Every moment with Allison made me skip; I don't know if it's the actress or if her character is so bad, but all I could do was wish for her to die already or suffer more. Vanya was bland as always and she had too much screentime. Luther and Claus were the only ones that grew on me this season. In general I'm surprised that a series with supernatural apocalyptic stuff can be so boring. Just the characters I don't like talking and talking and talking. And no, I'm not the "explosions and action!!!!" type of viewer. I think that they tire me so much because they're extremely unrelatable and nothing changes about them (beside Claus I guess). In my eyes they're just cardboard conglomerate of certain attributes, not people with strong, interesting traits. Them being a bunch of eccentrics with no morals can't carry the show forever. But that's just my take on it.
@@martuut.9404 Hey man, completely valid opinion even if we strongly disagree, but please respect Viktor's name and pronouns out of respect for Elliot Page! You're absolutely allowed to not like the show :)
Without revealing any spoilers, the first 2 seasons felt like the plot revolved around the characters; things happened because of the characters and the choices they made. This season felt like the characters revolved around the plot; people did things because the plot needed that to happen, even if it didn't feel right. It's an interesting story, but it feels inconsistent with the other seasons.
my problems with the end of this season were mainly that even after klaus being the driving force behind the mystery of their dead mothers, nobody told him the truth after allison revealed it. i know it was tense because she had killed harlan but klaus was right there and nobody gave him context? he was the one most worried about that mystery and just dropped it after training with hargreeves. felt weird
I didn't like them not telling him either, but I feel like him dropping the dead moms thing was very coherent with his character. It really felt like the only reason he was going after his mom was out of desperation for some kind of parental approval and love, of a sense of belonging. When Reginald starts acting interested in him and compassionate, that's what Klaus gets: the loving parent he was looking for in a dead mom. Which is also why he gets so defensive of Reginald, because he really needed this loving parental figure and doesn't want to let go of it.
@@joshtrue6521didn’t he approach his moms sister later in the woods and get a journal from her or something? iirc he never talks to his mother, he gets kicked out by an amish dude and then talks to his moms sister secretly. but after giving the book to five who shares the info about their moms dying on the same day, klaus never gets more info about who/how/why, even though allison and others end up figuring it out. if he talked to his dead mother using his powers or something i must’ve forgotten that part. but the mystery of their mothers’ deaths also caused the kugelblitz so its kind of important not to just drop
@@mariaah3073 truuuuueee!! that makes sense. that’s a really good point. he’s not really in it for the mystery, just for the personal closure and parental love
I hope that's not the case. I liked Luther and Sloane, and I was disgusted with what Allison did to him. It's completely unfair that she gets her happy ending with Ray and Claire, yet Luther doesn't get Sloane (at least for now). Not to mention, Allison was so obsessed with getting Claire back but had no problem killing Harlan, who was like a son to Viktor. If this theory tracks, she needs some serious consequences next season.
Luther and Sloan annoyed the shit out of me but it would be very sad if Allison did that. It would be consistent with her going full Killgrave on Luther though. She was definitely a villain this season.
My theory is somewhat similar, as in Alison just wanted her family to be safe, happy and normal. And she just didn't see Sloan as being part of the family. So when she pictured her family Ray and Claire were there with the rest of the Umbrella Academy but Sloan wasn't. Even though the others saw Sloan as part of the family. I think this fits with Alison's character as she would say she was thinking of others but she wasn't really because she didn't take into consideration how much Sloan meant to Luther and the rest of the family.
Season 4 better be the "your actions HAVE consequences and it's time for you to deal with them" season for Allison. I was fine with her in s1 but her character just became too insufferable. And I get it, trauma and circumstances, but no one persists in calling her out. Meanwhile they insist on Viktor being a bigger issue as if yall needed to double down on his persecution complex
If I had a nickel for every time Robert Sheehan played an immortal comic relief character, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
@@rachelgray6790 i mean if the movie series of the mortal instruments would have continued he would've become a vampire so, in a way, that makes 3 characters
28:47 - I noticed a really random thing here Sloane is reading a book called 'Jetset Life' which could be an cool little nod to the My Chemical Romance song called 'The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You' since mcr's lead singer Gerard Way created the umbrella academy in the first place like I said, really random but I think its cool
You could tell that it was limited by the COVID restrictions, but the acting and general wacky tone kept it from feeling stifled or boring. Season 2 is still way better, but I respect 3 for what it is.
That doesn't really make sense because multiple shows that were being shot in the midst of the pandemic look even better such as stranger things and the boys
Idk I like the way the Harlan story was executed. It ties in his autism with his new found powers. Which makes it look bad imo when Allison kills an autistic person for essentially having a superpowered sensory meltdown 😵💫
I like the way the character was handled - I just don't like how it was worked into the story because it ended up feeling completely pointless other than really driving home that the particles aren't something inherent TO them, they're inside them and can be moved around, which was already established in season 2.
@@livvlife Same... imo the whole Harlan storyline (like in s2!!) was handled for shock value and was super shitty. (am also autistic) It was bad both from a story telling pov - why Harlan absolutely HAD to die when the literal apocalypse is happening and the Sparrows were coming to kill them anyway so why are they so mad at the self-defense? (Like I get it, your teammates are dead but bigger fish to fry guys...) And Harlan pushing Viktor almost to the point of death for him to take back the... powers? particles? idk. And the way Allison spoke to Harlan really set my teeth on edge, as I've been spoken to in that exact tone multiple times. It's super obvious in both seasons he's in that the writers are not autistic/neurodivergent in that way and do not know how to write such a character. (Not to mention him obviously accidentally killing the umbrella's moms was a way of the universe trying to right itself. How does Allison and co. blame him in any way for that.... like if your moms in this universe were alive still - none of your problems would be solved. That whole plot line made me want to take the characters and shake them)
Honestly the reason I see Allison killing Harlan wasn't even for the reason she said she killed him, Harlan was to be Viktor and his girlfriend's child, that means that Viktor would have a kid and could take care of a kid while Allison doesn't have a kid. Similar to the sexual assault scene this implies that Luther had a romance and Allison didn't and Allison couldn't handle someone having something she doesn't. All she says it's because Harlan killed their parents I believe it's because Viktor had a child and Allison didn't and Allison can't handle anyone having anything she doesn't.
Personally I felt like Allison was always shady since the earlier seasons, this woman would tell her daughter to like be quiet and would rumor her husband into not fighting with her. And while that's not always shown it's implied enough that she used her rumor power to get everything she had. And then she barely spent time with this child that she's willing to kill everyone over. But at the end of the day I'm not here to say Allison is not a well-written character or a deeply flawed character, I'm here to say that basically Allison murdered a child that Viktor wanted to raise with his girlfriend, and we are to believe that this is not a death or a murder of someone else's child, I fully see it as Allison killed someone else's child because she couldn't have her own. And not many people really think about how she murdered another guy's child because she couldn't have that happiness so she wasn't going to let him have that happiness. That's how I see Allison's character. I see what Allison did to Luther as a if I can't have him I will take him from someone else and make him mine, and if I can't be happy nobody can be happy mentality. Feel free to dispute this with me. But I see Allison as very selfish while also not appreciating anything she has.
Definitely! Also she had DECADES with Claire and Ray while Luther only got a few days with Sloane but she doesn't care about anything, I got so mad at the end haha (because the writing is good!)
Exactly this. And her getting mad at Viktor, despite the fact that in Season 1 they all realized "Vanya is the bomb. Vanya is always the bomb" BECAUSE of how they treated [him]. [HE] was the abused one, and had to fight and claw to even figure out who he was. And now he's finally taken his identity and earned his confidence, she once again becomes the abuser forgetting all the lessons. I get that she's been through hell; they've ALL been through trauma - but I think you nailed it on the fact she's so selfish she can't see anyone else's problems and trauma.
I agree with this one. She can be a sweet character at times but at her core she is selfish. From what I remember of the other two seasons she was not a good sister to Vikor or Vanya. The scene were they fought at the wedding incredibly pissed me off, because Vikor was probably the one who got the worst treatment of the academy. If these people learnt to be nice then the end of the world wouldn't have happened
If you stop to consider that she was a person that got everything good in her life literally given to her whenever she asked, you can see why she may be acting this way. With the exception of Ray, everything else she considered good or that made her life happy she took with her rumor power and this season may be the first time in her life she can't just get someone rumorred to fix her problems. In S2 she had a man who loved her while she was in pain and she also fueled her pain into fighting for her rights, but this time she doesn't have anyone like that, she has no way to direct her anger and can't even rumor anyone to fix it for her, so she is lashing out in desperation
"I heard a rumor that you were happy." is one of the most relatable moments in fiction ever written. how many times have depressed people done that? how many times have we thought, today's the day, this is it, we choose happiness? I cannot thank them enough for portraying her turmoil in a way that feels real. some people don't just get sad when they're depressed, it's messier, darker, more volatile. it's beautiful, it's disturbing. it reminded me of the show the Maid.
I will say 5 and Viktor's scene was my favorite in the season. it's really rare to see him go soft. And it's just another reminder that he was likely the only one of them growing up that had any kind of affection for Viktor.
Poor Five. He was saving the world for 3 weeks straight. I forgot he had the least time gap in the throwback to the sixties. Loved the Footloose scene 🥰 Some missed opportunities for the Sparrow interactions but still highly entertaining because of the family dynamics. I think Stanley was miscast or I would have liked that storyline more. The Guardians were a letdown but a lot of great performances and story arcs by the OG characters. Some of the things they said in anger were pretty amazing 😳 Props to the writers.
She does do this and worse in the comics. It’s also not out of character for her to rumor someone romantically. She rumored Patrick into loving her. Claire is a child created out of relationship of dubious consent. (Edit: sorry if this came of insensitive. I know this is a sensitive subject matter and that people are completely valid in the opinion that this particular element shouldn’t have been used)
@@Evelyn-zy3hs Doesn't mean people can't take issue with how it was handled. I'm in the camp that thinks the characters in the show are better than the comic book counterparts so it felt like it went too far with how she's progressed as a character who stopped using her powers at times BECAUSE of the mistakes she's made with them.
Preach, I loved how Diego got a moment to shine where he proved that he'd be a great dad, and Viktor's transition was handled with respect. Luther also got a cute romance with Sloane. But while I empathised with Allison, I wished that they hadn't made her act so over the top cruel, and the sexual assault on Luther could easily have been cut. It was just so unnecessary.
The one aspect I was disappointed with on season 3 was the powers were a lot less on show than in previous seasons? Not so much the fights, etc. but the more casual day-to-day use. Like Five, blinking to cross a room rather than walking across it. Heck, I don't think we see Diago use his ability even in a fight? Like did Viktor just use up all the effects budget?
So I hear this theory about why Alison is so shitty this season and I like it. When she rumours herself in the mirror, the mirror actually reverses the intended effects, so instead of making her happy, it makes her angry. Evidence: 1. She isn't happy for the remainder of the season, implying the rumour didn't work 2. You'd expect her not be able to rumour herself, but we see the rumour flow into her ear and her eyes go blank, she doesn't struggle against it like we've seen someone trying to break a rumour previously 3. Given 2 we can assume that the rumour works and since given 1, the rumour can't be Happy it has to be something else -> mirror reverses to angry
That’s interesting, and I like it better than me hating the writers for ruining her character this season after she was so supportive of Victor in the beginning.
For 2, I'm pretty sure in season 1 one of the rumors in the montage that ends with "I heard a rumor that you loved me" was "I heard a rumor you were a good actress" implying she can rumor herself and that's how she got rich in the first place
What I assumed was that "happy" didn't mean emotionally, it turned her into someone who would do anything to _be_ happy. She's not necessarily happy, but she's completely indifferent to her bad behavior because it gives her a thrill.
I heard the theory and thought about the throw away line “melt her mind with your rumor powers” meaning that if she puts enough force or intent behind a rumor it could have lasting damaging effects so when she rumors herself it lowkey “melts her mind” but the mirror thing is cool too
I've honestly always thought Allison was kind of horrible. Where the HELL does she get off getting married TWICE knowing how Luther felt about her and SUPPOSEDLY reciprocating those feelings, THEN gets all pissy when he finally gets some intimate physical attention. Like okay, she got married, that's fine. Oh...she got married again. Okay. Oh, now she's pissed off that Luther had a fling/one night stand...WHAT THE FUCK?? She had NO RIGHT to judge him for that when she's been dangling her love in front of him just out of reach or decades. Getting all the love and affection she wants/needs and just saying screw him.
She also "rumoured" Patrick (or a previous partner, which could even be Luther himself) into loving her. Girl's been awful since season 1, she just thought of herself as good so we didn't get to see her go full psycho before, but yeah. It was all there lol
Also, the main reason Viktor went all nulear in S1 was because he has rumoured by Allison to live a mediocre life and think he was was 'not that special'. It was Hargreaves' idea, true, but Allison went on with her life even after they all went their separate ways, she lived a glamorous actress life while letting her sibiling suffer. She doesn't even mention it afther their father's death and then plays the victim when Viktor retaliates for essentially ruining his entire life. He barely got a life. I get it was not her choice to rumour him, but sis, take SOME accountaility! She was a direct cause to the first apocalypse too! And then when Viktor finally finds happiness with Sissy, for the first time in his life, Allison is still the only victim for loosing everything :))) Bcause Viktor still doesn't matter as much as the others. Do they want him to destroy the world?? Then 5 threatening to kill Viktor himself, instead of chechig in on good girl Allison, OMG :))) I would have gone nuclear just out of spite at that point... Killing Harlan is to me as if Ray had a kid and Viktor murdered him in cold blood :)) But since it's Allison doing the killing it's alright... She never seems to take her part into consideration, she's thinks herself too much a good guy and a victim and everyone aroud her just plays along, bcause it's Allison...
@@mariaah3073 Oh no, I forgot about that. Man she's always been pretty unhinged. I feel like she'd be better of without her power, for everyone, but especially her sake. The temptation to use it is too powerful, it's clearly been fucking her up.
@@warwick3039 I totally agree with this. This season summed up for me is that be a douche and you can still have your happy ending. Screw everyone else. Her siblings were literal stepping stones for her... Worst season imo.
When watching this season, I got the impression that reg set this all up from the beginning, like, when Ben died, he had five want to time travel, so it would cause then end of the world, so that they could go to an alternate universe where Ben is back. So in a way the other sparrows were useless cos he may have been interested in getting him back. He must have known from the beginning, since he was preparing them to die
It was so random when Luther first sees Sloane in the first episode of the season and is instantly like "Hey :3" and completely changes track in the whole interaction. I thought she had some kind of power she was manipulating him with but nope? No matter how serious the situation was, Luther legitimately stopped in his tracks to *openly fawn over a stranger* he found attractive. It was so weird!
I want to know why Reggie created the mom for the Sparrow academy (and a defunct one at that) if she was originally created just to deal with Victor's powers.
The show’s original characters are always a bit hit or miss for me, but I absolutely adore Lila. She is just the right amount of unhinged to be entertaining yet lovable.
@@spiderlily723 But then that would mean Reginald didn’t make any effort at finding another way to save his wife (like getting some of the other miracle kids on board), and later killed himself, suggesting he was concerned with some vague future threat to unite the UA against. There was never any mention of some mysterious mission the kids were being trained for before this season, as far as I can recall. Pogo never said anything.
@@jacobd1984 The project failed when 5 vanished and he's like 13, we see the Sparrows don't have any idea and think they're just playing supehreoes well into they're 20s or 30s! His plan just failed then, that's it. Pogo also never mention's Victor's abuse and manipulation till last moment - he clearly kept Reggie's secrets better since Reggie never had foresight of knowing he failed and never became desperate like he did with Sparrows. And given he used his funeral to bring them together, I doubt it wasn't part of some lat-ditch plan to still succeed - 5 coming back and Victor doing the apocalypse were just variables outside of his control.
Something that I think you should have pointed out is that Elliot Page was happy to keep playing Vanya but instead the writers and directors where like ‘haha, nope, we got you fam’ and rewrote the script for them. Massive koodos on their part.
As a Trans guy myself I feel this was the best possible way to handle Viktor's coming out, It's a healthy representation of what it should be like to come out because that is what is often overlooked when it comes to representation. Yes, it is important to portray the real struggles that a person can go through, but when that is not the focus of a character, I think it's better and more important to show that stuff like being Trans can just be accepted and not made a big deal out of.
This season was disappointing in more ways than one. But I do love how they handled the Viktor transition, plus the new Ben grew on me. And I was rooting for Allison's villain arc until that pool table scene... yikes.
Likewise, I loved how they addressed Viktor's transition early on, and how all of his siblings were respectful, remembering his new name and pronouns. Also, you can't help but feel sorry for Sparrow Ben, since he witnessed four of his siblings die in front of him and Sloane has mysteriously vanished. He's also stuck in a parallel universe without his powers with a group of people who constantly tell him with a great guy his counterpart was.
And also there likely is things not understood about how the sparrow’s were raised in a way that makes them who they were. All of them seem to be cocky jerks, not just Ben and that’s likely due to the extreme push Reginald had pre-drugging. It’s far likely Reginald saw the way the umbrella’s turned out and changed up how he raised them (shown by their success) only to damage them in different ways. Plus I’d put there is likely some factor with Ben given the fact Reginald new he was an Umbrella who died (hearing about him in the 60s) that greatly changed how he was raised and treated. Ben might have been a jerk but it’s understandable to an extent the way he was and often how he perceived the umbrella’s.
Yes, thank you. I agree about Viktor, it was handled with care, I liked douchey Ben too, and I think that they took Allison's villain arc way too far, it dehumanised her completely and I just can't care about her at all anymore. I could do without the SA, thank you very much. The show could do without SA, she was already doing evil things, point made, no need to take it that far.
The transition was awful. I know that it could be relieving for Elliot and for other trans people, but as an element of the show it was introduced very forcefully and it seemed artificial, in effect almost grotesque. I personally would like it more if it was less sudden, more subtle and in the back, treated as something not worth making a circus around. I mean, I find it hard to believe that the self-centered siblings with an end of the world on their minds would give a shit and be so considerate about it. Instead, there were a million unnecessary dialogues and moments. Although this season suffers from filler moments in general.
Yeah, I was very invested in new Ben by the end (at first I hated him til like the last two episodes but his insecurities and passive aggression brought me back). I loved how they dealt with Viktors transitions and his and Luther’s relationship, it was so wholesome. The pool table scene brought me out of it and I was pissed for the rest of it, she better not get a happy ending.
I was very confused watching this season because I dunno why I was sure it would be the last one. And I was like oh, this isn't satisfying at all. Now that I know there will be another, I'm enjoying it more. It did feel like a lot of setup for later, but I really like most of the characters and I am so happy with how they treated Elliot's and (Viktor's) transition. It's a great example of how you can be respectful and this show has a massive audience and insane plots so I love how him transitioning is a minor thing in the show and about his character while still being handled well. Lila's so fun, I am glad she was back for more. I loved her and Five vibing. All in all there were a lot of character moments that were cool despite the plot being a bit more dissapointing than previous seasons.
Honestly I was into it, my biggest complaint about seasons 1 & 2 is that they were a bit slow sometimes (particularly season 1), but this one was packed full of stuff & I found it more engaging.
Should this have been a cleaner final season that focused more on answering questions in its new conflict, or should it at least have felt like more of a bridge to season 4 than another fresh start?
The umbrella academy feels like an anthology series with the same seven main characters. I think it is a very different experience to a lot of different series that keeps it feeling fresh.
It left as if there's more episodes and I honestly felt surprised during binge that it was the last episode. I dont know how they are going to wrap up the next season if its final. Feels like we need another season to get answers to every possible question and honestly It was even a huge surprise that they scrapped out Luther and 5 being twin siblings.
idc which i just wish the writers would’ve picked one. this sort of teetering on the line is not only frustrating but weakens the story as a whole. really disappointed considering how incredible the first two seasons were.
As an autistic viewer, this season was a lot to take in. I was, at first, more than happy to see Harlan back as an old man, because we don't get many older autistic characters in media. I was a bit bummed that he was now verbal, but like, I get that it was just easier for them. Harlan was objectively a good representation: he was visibly stemming, had a peculiar speech pattern and his own way to interpret the world and make what he could out of it. But they really screwed it up with his ultimate purpose in the show and his fate. It felt like a huge "fuck you" to the autistic community (probably not intentional, but still) to have the only autistic character being killed off the way he was. Harlan basically spent his entire life dealing with heightened sensory hell, and the one moment he can finally live without that, it's taken away from him senselessly. They could have just had the end of the world taking him, like the kid in this season or the waitress in season 1. Harlan could have been happy for a little while, maybe die with Viktor by his sides, but no, let's just kill off the autistic guy for something he couldn't control. We can't allow him a second of happiness, no, no. Also, they still don't dare to say the word "autism" or "autistic", but they have no problem calling him "creepy" or "freaky" or whatnot, which is... not good. "Autism" is not a bad word, and, in 2019, Harlan would definitely be able to name his disability, or Viktor could do it as well. In the end, Harlan's part of those autistic characters that are only there to "enhance" the Neurotypicals' backstory and make them evolve, like Raymond in "Rain Man", but don't have their own journey themselves. They feel like a tool more than a fully fledged character, and it gets tiring to see that kind of representation, especially given how well they handled Viktor being transgender.
To be fair to the writers, it's likely in part because of the increased tragedy from that and ties in to the increased villainy of Allison, Harlan didn't have to die at all, his death wouldn't save the timeline or really benefit anyone except give Alison some sense of vengeance since Claire doesn't exist in part because of Harlan accidentally killing all their mothers and causing the paradox.
I actually loved seeing Harlan being verbal as an adult. Neurotypicals tend to see autistic people’s support needs as stagnant, and it was sort of nice to see a character that didn’t fit neatly into the whole “high functioning/low functioning” archetypes.
@@Dracon7601 Yeah, it was part of the tragedy. I think Allison even said she did't feel anything even after killing him. Showing how empty of a violent action it was, and her issues wouldn't be solved by the path she took. (In the end it looks like she got everything she wanted, but I highly doubt it will be "perfect".)
I felt the same. I was so enthralled to see Harlan. with powers ( without training) having to deal with overstimulation. His many ways to self soothe to not lose control. I loved that for seeing a bit of myself on screen. The idea of an autistic superhero is amazing. I honestly couldn´t believe Allison killed him in such a blase way. I get her trauma and I think it is horrible what she has to go through, but killing a defenseless man ( a stand in child for Victor), sexually assaulting Luther and neither aplogizing nor getting dealing with any kind of consequences pissed me off. To gloss those things over. I hope there will be some ramifications. I don´t want to see her unhappy at the end but there should be some repercussions.
@@Dracon7601 To not be fair to the writers because I'm sick of it, as an autistic person, I wanted to have the one autistic character to be happy. Him having such a cruel and ultimately meaningless fate for the sake of plot progression and for the sake of drama for the neurotypical characters was not something I wanted to see and it's something I hate in media. I don't really care if it was supposed to be tragic, having their one autistic character face such a tragic fate was awful.
I remember Elliot saying that I think back in 2020 or early 2021 but appreciate that the Steve Blackman took it as an opportunity to introduce it to the storyline
I agree with everything you said you covered all the same problems that I have with this season particularly Allison. That being said it’s still the most entertaining mess on television and I’m severely invested like you in knowing what’s going to happen next! My theory is that somehow the commission is used to reset everything back to where it was at the beginning of season 1 but without Ben dying and Sissy, Harlin and Slone still there. Maybe the Jennifer incident has something to do with that as well but that’s my guess right now.
In the hallucination scene when all the umbrella academy starts dancing perfectly in sync and Diego goes “oh shit! Where really good!!” I know now when I re watch it, rhat it’s not actually happening, but that makes it like ten times funnier 😂 Luther’s hallucination Diego is still so Diego
Thank you for always being respectful! The amount of transphobia I've seen towards Elliot Page where people are purposefully using his dead name and female pronouns is DISGUSTING to see.
I think we know how/why Five started the commission. It’s also why I can safely assume there is no commission in this universe. The Founder, when he dies, mentions Oblivion, he knows what it is, he also tells Five “don’t save the world”. So, how does the commission (a corporation that exists outside of time) get built, unless it is literally built into the fabric of that universe? And why would it exist? I believe the implication is that Five “saving the world” is him resetting the universe, and we have been following that universe so far. Since the founder has the same missing arm and tattoo Five has when they have the make a choice, the founder chose to “save the world” and let Allison step on the star, he then created the commission to keep a possibly ageless man who may have been around forever, in check. After all he doesn’t trust Reggy at all. But this time, since Five gets advice to step back, that’s what he does, he lets Allison save the world, and she doesn’t create the commission she creates her family. Which is likely why Reginald now has so much power, because there’s no commission to keep things in check. And since tattoos are gone and limbs are back, it can be assumed that Five will no longer become the founder. LOVED this season. If I had to rank the seasons from best to least best I’d have to say it’s season 3 then 1 then 2, we know 2 was an outlier for the show now since we have three seasons and thematically it’s the odd one out, and personally it was the weakest but it had great moments for sure.
Overall I enjoyed this season, there were a lot of great character moments. Daddy Diego, Viktor's transition (handled beautifully imo), Klaus and Five's roadtrip, Lila and Five teaming up and duking it out, and Klaus getting a handle on his powers finally, not to mention Luther as a whole. I never hated him like a majority of the fandom in S1, and seeing his character progression from S1 to S3 was really nice to see. He's like the #1 himbo. I was also completely onboard for what they were doing with Allison...until that scene with Luther and her killing Harlan. It was just such a 180, and I felt she had not much of a reason to be mad at Viktor at all. One commenter had a theory that Allison rumoring herself in the mirror actually is what made her so angry and insufferable, and I think that tracks and would be really interesting to see. But it was so frustrating to watch her fuck over everyone because only *her* pain mattered to her. Her having PTSD with what happened to her in the 60's and losing Claire makes total sense and I was alright with that, but then it just notched it up to 300 and I hated it. I hope she actually has some consequences next season. Sparrow Ben was also lovably hateable, but as you said, I was waiting and waiting for him to press his siblings about his death and it just didn't come. Hopefully we get some answers in S4. I also was disappointed that there weren't a lot of Klaus and Ben scenes this season. Klaus spent the most time with Ben as a ghost and was a huge part of his life. I was hoping there'd be a bit more emotional stuff for the two of them. There were a ton of things to enjoy this season but it felt like...I don't know. Like a preamble, I guess. I really hope we get a S4, because if not that'll just be an awful note to end on. I still really, really love this show. Even with the negatives there are a lot of positives. The soundtrack, the fight scenes, the humor, and the emotional moments really do hit. But I don't think they quite recaptured that magic with the first two seasons. I think they can get it back tho. SO GIVE US SEASON 4, NETFLIX.
Absolutely agree. I was appalled that everyone in the show was acting like VICTOR was the one at fault, when clearly Allison was the one who snapped and should've been the one apologising to him. Her trauma and PTSD made sense, but her behaviour was selfish and ignorant as all hell, given they've all lost people they care about. I'm a firm believer in trauma being an *explanation* for a character's behaviour, not an excuse. Victor was right, Allison killed Harlan because she wanted to hurt him, and don't even get me started on the terrible sweeping-under-the-rug her SA on Luther received.
I believe Sparrow Ben needs more time to open up and start asking the hard questions. He's been closed off from everyone because of the Jennifer incident. I totally agree with the allison part. She needs to be held accountable for her selfish actions for her own gains. The others are selfish but they didnt throw their own family under the bus (No pun intended for Klaus) for selfish reasons. It irks me that she got a free pass....
YES!! I was so happy for Luther this season, he and Sloane are so cute, I love how they're both so sweet and kind. And the whole "you really think the moon is cool?!?" thing was adorable, plus Luther making a mixtape for her was the SWEETEST!! And I agree, I never understood why people hated Luther so much in season 1, and I get that it was mainly a joke, but it didn't sit right with me how ppl brushed off Luther's trauma and daddy issues with the "dad sent me to the moon :(((" meme. It was a lot more than that and it's not like he does anything with bad intentions, he genuinely tries to be a good person. Idk maybe there's just something abt him that irritates a lot of ppl, but I personally don't feel it.
I am all for Allison having a Wanda Maximoff moment. I am actually glad that they addressed the trauma, but holy fuck a lot of her actions were so unnecessary! Treating Viktor the way she did when he didn't even do anything wrong. What did killing Harlan accomplish? It's not like it fixed the timeline! And sexually assaulting Luther? That is something you do not get forgiven for. The writers said fuck any of the character development she had in the past season. I thought we were over the whole incest plotline with Ray and the writers being self aware, but noooooo.... we even had to have one with Klaus and Ben. What the fuck?!? You know it's bad when they made me like Luther and hate Allison. Some things I did like. Like the development with Luther. He had several wholesome moments with Viktor and I really appreciated it. Also Viktor, that's all there is to say. I loved Lila and Diego, I loved seeing Klaus learn he can come back to life. I am glad that a lot of my favorites were not ruined. I just felt like overall it was a pretty big mess. I did not care for the sparrow academy. I also felt the plot went pretty stale. I don't know, something about this season felt different. It didn't have the same flare as the others.
I feel the same way. After season one I never thought I'd come to like Luther, but I found myself rooting for him and wishing everyone else would call Allison out for becoming a literal villian. You do NOT commit SA and get to be redeemed.
Killing Harlan was all about hurting Viktor. Viktor said to them that was the kid that he wanted to raise with his girlfriend. That was his kid. And Allison saw that and thought about how she didn't have a kid but Viktor did, and Allison went nope if I can't have it you can't.
@@bug675 It's in the comic books, too. Except rather than Ben (The Horror) and Klaus (Seance) it's between Diego (The Kraken) and Number 7/Vanya* (The White Violin). (*referred to as Vanya because Vicktor's transition isn't in the graphic novels) Alison assaulting Luther is also in the books, too. I honestly prefer the show over the few books I read.
It’s interesting and cool how the Kubleblitz, an inexplicable event, was explained by the humansp with science and reason, and is explained by the robot with spirituality. I love how opposite and strange it seemed :)
Thank you for bringing up the assault scene 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I kept thinking they just swept over that very quickly but what Allison did was messed up and she didn’t even seem remorseful. Easily my least favorite character this season!
One thing I liked is that they eventually show us at least one scene of each sibling with one another, even those who don’t actually interact that much… their lives seem so lived in for fictional characters, they do resemble actual brothers and sisters. Also, is Lila technically number 8? If so then is Stan number 10 since 2 + 8? Also also Fei is a queen bring her back cowards
Small spoiler: * * Don’t read unless you’ve seen all of it, basically. * * Stan isn’t number 10, because… Well, Lila doesn’t always speak the truth. He’s the son of someone she met in Germany, and she just took him with her to mess with Diego. He was obviously quite neglected and in a bad situation anyway, so he probably thought it was kinda nice to have someone care for him… Anyway, he’s not related to Diego OR Lila. But there could be an argument made for any future offspring… :) Unless something got messed up with the reset. Scars and tattoos disappearing, not unlikely that a pregnancy got reset as well. :(
I could barely remember the alien stuff from the previous seasons so you’ve made a lot of things make sense to me, thank you! I feel like they should have mentioned the alien stuff a bit more so we could follow along better 🤔
As frustrating as it was to watch, part of me does respect the writers for committing to Allison getting everything she wanted in the end despite some of her actions being genuinely despicable.
I kinda love Alison becoming so unlikeable and jerk-Ben. Really interested in what they do with that next season. The Sparrows on the whole were a waste tho. And they could have been a really cool thorn for much longer in the season.
I love how none of the characters question how an Indian woman and a Hispanic man could somehow produce a white child. Diego believes Lila without question that Stanley is his biological son, and seems genuinely surprised when told that he isn't!
I'm quite sure Hargreeves was ok having just 6 kids after Ben died in the original timeline because it was always his plan to cause some apocalypse-level event so that the Umbrellas would have to go back in time and cause some paradox which would require him to restart the universe and revive Abigail. He only really needed 7 Sparrows.
I felt like this season was hard to get into, I’m not sure if they filmed the episodes in order, but the first couple seemed a little awkward to me. I loved the way the handled Viktors story line, it stripped it right back to the humanity of them. I just really hope Allison faces consequence for her actions. All too often women get away with sexual assault on men because somehow it’s not as bad?! I agree that they didn’t really do enough with Harlan. This season seemed to like just Introducing very interesting and complex people and then taking them away without any answers. Like Christopher… is this the result of some weird experiment, or did some poor woman actually have to push out a cube?
My problem with this season is the Cinderella and Disney problem. Well, it most movies problem. The "ugly" step sisters, like Fei, are mean and bad, but pretty ones, like Sloan, are good, nice and almost perfect in everyway and gets the romance. They treated the disfigured characters so badly this season. Fei should of been the main female Sparrow instead of Sloan. That would of been way better and actually different and interesting. It is just disgusting to me. But of course most people are not seeing this as a problem. They want they same crap over and over. It's funny that people are all about "representation" and seeing different kinds of people and stories on screen when the characters are socially acceptable attractive. But characters like Fei, Christopher, and Alphonso are treated more like assholes and easily disposable. Such possible rich stories and character development wasted for some boring romantic story line about two pretty people, which we've seen at least hundreds of times before.
That’s an interesting read. I honestly didn’t get the sense that Fei was particularly bad among the Sparrows, or that the disfigured ones were worse than the others. The two worst were Jayme and Alphonso, and Sloane was good/nice/perfect by comparison with really all of her siblings imo.
@@jacobd1984 Fei, before she died, said that they should killed the rest of the Umbrella Academy, which Christopher agreed. They made them so much into assholes that you wouldn't be sad that they get killed off. Before Alphonso and Jayme died, they showed them being really mean towards Hargreaves and their robot mother. The ONLY time we see Alphonso or Jayme have any sympathetic characteristics were in one scene in flashback AFTER they died. Of course Fei is disfigured and Jayme doesn't have a typical "feminine" attitude and personality, so course they can't be the main romantic story line or be more main character versus a very typical "feminine" girl with a very model body and looks. This is very much a one step forwards and two step back in progress and representation in film.
@@lunavioleta001 yeah, or that I went with the self-insert because she's reminding me too much of our cringe teenage starts in RPGs characters. "Oh she's pretty, oh she's smart, oh she's powerful, surrounded by terrible people the only kind soul, and her only flaw is being clumsy sometimes hehe"... I saw a lot of people starting with these characters. Me included 😄 I cringe
I had a thought on Reggie leaving Klaus behind. After dying by having his powers removed to power et button, would he be able to go to his afterlife space again? Klaus and Reggie bonded, so Reggie gave him the best choice for a dead outcome that he could think of.
Great video. My theory about 5 and the commission is that when old 5 told his younger self to "not save the world" it meant that he, himself, went through the same thing, but was in Allison's place and used the reset button to create the Commission in order to have "time agents" trying to prevent anomalies and thus preventing things like the Kugelblitz . But by being one of the Stars, 5 left the task to "save the world" to Allison who changed the whole world which wasn't planned.
I thought Allison was shady from the beginning. Plus she's used to getting everything she wants; she rumoured her way into fame, and she probably got her husband that way too. She was willing to and did rumour her own CHILD. Then, she suffered a LOT of trauma in losing her child and then her husband after finally settling down a bit. I don't think her going full villain is totally out of nowhere. She's not getting anything she wants anymore, and it makes sense that in her anger and desperation, she'll start spite rumouring people, even the assault with Luther.
I honestly liked where they went with Allison's storyline this season. Her power is manipulation and she's always taken advantage of that, including her family relationships. She's always been shown to be very self-centered unless she has an interest on something. Usually she tries to be good, but was never abobe using people for her own gain. This season just pushed her over the edge. She wanted her family back and didn't get it, she was traumatized and said fuck it to whatever it was that kept her trying to be nice. It felt very well-written to me, a good progression since season 1.
I absolutely loved this season, Klaus and five were brought so much further as some of my favorite characters(How excited five was for the road trip was so much a chip in that “old man in a teen body” and it was really a moment where you saw a kid who never got to grow up with his older siblings), Luther was so much more enjoyable than the other two seasons and had fantastic chemistry with Sloan, Diego’s fantasy being the whole family doing a dance number together was so sweet and kind of sad, but also probably one of the greatest scenes in this series, maybe media period. Allison is complicated for me, obviously what she did was absolutely despicable and I really do hope they heap some serious consequences on her, I feel like the only reason Victor was the one getting yelled at instead of her is Luther didnt mention the SA incident to the rest of the family, which seems like its very in his character to keep quiet about. But frankly her power has always been absolutely terrifying, she’s essentially Kilgrave from Jessica Jones but where he was much more of a sadist, she has always shown she kind of just does things to make things “better” for herself. It’s heavily implied her powers are how she became a movie star, married her first husband, and likely used the multiple times on her child. Combine that with her child being erased(I dont buy into the thing that people think she just should have assumed her kid was gone and she shouldn’t have been surprised/upset, as far as she knew five had solved the issues in the past and they were all going back to the future pretty close to as it was, and besides that, what mother would just accept her child was gone? One way or the other this snap was going to happen) Now that she has her “Dream life” I can see her being an extremely compelling and frankly scary villain in the next season as the journey to get their powers back could put the umbrella’s directly at odds with her especially if Sloan doesnt exist and Luther wants to bring her back. Elliot Page’s transition was handled so wonderfully, I really kind of hope they just asked him how he wanted it done and let him give a master class on an extremely appropriate way to handle someone telling you who they are and what’s really important in those situations. Can’t wait for the next season, really enjoyed everything about this one even the weaker bits with the sparrows and Harlen.
To me this season was disappointing, and not much else. Sure, things were happening, but it felt like a bad imitation of what the Umbrella Academy used to be. This show managed to balance a ton of trauma, miscommunication, various main characters with different personalities and goals, and dark dark situations perfectly, while somehow still being immensely enjoyable to watch. This season was none of those things. It was tiring, repetitive, some storylines were completely pointless, almost all characters were at their worst, too much screentime wasted on nonsense while important things remained unresolved, underused characters, underused dynamics, storylines that went way too far... Idk, it was so underwhelming I was in denial for a few days after I finished it. I don't know what the creators were trying to do this season, but if they get a season 4 they'd better step up their game because this ain't it.
Honestly as someone who rewatched s1 and s2 in preparation on s3 I felt this was easily the weakest so far. While certain aspects of characters felt understandable (I.e. Allison being upset), at the same time choices felt out of place and majority of interesting conflicts had to constantly be bypassed for the show to keep moving forward as they don’t have time for everything. I feel my favorite parts as aspects of how characters parallel the advice given in other seasons or how we see with a character like Klaus/Luther the validation they seek from Reginald despite having that realization of Reginald being terrible in the past seasons (only for it to bite them in the ass). Either way if a season 4 gets passed I do hope it’s better than this one. Also I assumed the lack of modern technology from the families perspective would have come from the fact Reginald seems like the type who would never have allowed it or even liked modern accessibility; thus, the family never having acquired it and instead relying on outdated forms as communication instead. Edit; all I can say I what I assume happened is the deal was that Allison would have gotten her family back and Reggie would have gotten his. Reginald only cared about his frozen wife, problem solved. However, Allison’s family was bigger; Ray (the man she loved, not Patrick), her daughter, and the umbrella’s. Ben was pulled through because despite her Ben being dead, it sees Sparrow Ben as the same one. Lila was family due to season 2 ending where they try to convince her she doesn’t need the Handler now Lila has them. It’s why Luther was brought back as well, because he’s family to Allison after everything that happened. However, Sloane isn’t family even though she was married it. Allison doesn’t like her, doesn’t view her as such thus not apart it. Either way I hope they don’t leave them without powers- for a show about super heros with trauma I’d suck if all of them lost powers but Allison. I hope maybe it’s like how Five can’t just use his jump big jumps endless because he get drained of them the more it’s used so eventually with time they build themselves back up to having powers (or like not all of it was drained similar to Harlan not having them all taken away in s2 but even those small amount left managed to grow over time).
the whole powers thing infuriates me to no end. it also leads me to believe this is the ‘conclusion’ to the storyline and if it is i’m just gonna pretend it never happened.
I don't really have a problem with Alison's character progression, but execution is critical. It seems really out of character for her to make such a quick switch from loving sister to full-on psychopath. In fact, it's so abrupt that I thought the entire time this was all part of some larger plan. But nope, Alison is just crazy now, which seems like such a disservice to her character.
@@olddog2706 She was also very self-centered before the story even started. When we get her flashbacks we can hear Alison manipulating someone into loving her. I think all the time travel and subsequent losses just pushed her over the edge, but she'd always been standing there.
@@mariaah3073 Being self centred is very different to being a cold blooded murderer and attempted r*pist. The building blocks were there for her to eventually become what she became but there was still an enormous amount of character development that was entirely skipped.
@@Lisa_Flowers girl literally forced someone to be in love with her, which definitely led to physical contact that might not have happened otherwise. If the rumoured person was Patrick, it resulted in years of marriage, sex included, which would already make her a rapist if he wouldn't be in a relationship with her otherwise. All of the Umbrella Academy kids were murderers already, being a team of miniature vigilantes. Nothing was skipped with Allison's character development, it was just accelerated and made more obvious in a very intense and traumatic situation. Trauma can push people over the edge very easily and that's what we got from her.
"Do you feel loved?" "Yeah, I do." "Good. You are." Done. End of story. No more concerns or questions regarding that topic. They just moved on with the totally normal info they just got and had no issues. IDEAL. The world I'm trying to work towards.
I think a big issue this season had is that they promised a very different one than what we saw. I get that trailers show very little information but all the build up and the hype was the umbrella vs. sparrow conflict and that was a side plot that got halfway abandoned. So on top of too much plot and too little answers there was the disappointment of not getting what we were waiting for.
Anyone who thinks Allison is out of character needs to rewatch first two seasons. She Whispered her husband to love her. She Whispered her daughter who knows how many times if we're honest to avoid parenting. She Whispered a dude, in PUBLIC, during race riot times, just to get revange on him despite danger it put her AND Ray in. [This is AFTER her first step into controlling her powers in season 1, mind you, so she regressed from that way before season 3.] Yes, she is clearly suffering from PTSD and trauma from her injury and time in the past, but that's explaination (and honeslty, so are other characters, but I don't wanna get into Trauma Olympics), not an excuse to make it all fine and okay. Trauma only brought her worst side to the forefront - and her worst side is selfish, petty and quick to abuse her powers for personal gain with no regard to poeple she hurts. She acts as if she lost Ray the same way she lost Claire despite the fact that he chose to stay in his time (and her death-like ending shows she never reflects on that). She expects Luthor to jump right back into kissing her despite the fact it was HER who had a whole ass marriage which he knows about. She's completely in character and it's handleded perfectly fine - her trauma is shown very well, right down to hallucinations and mental breackdown, it's just not an excuse - the same way Victor isn't just excused from almost ending the world due to his trauma. I do hope she gets some redemption arc, I really want happy ending for her, but it wouldn't be fixing anything - there is nothing to be fixed. Her story actually parallels Reginald's - except at the last moment she did change her mind about letting everything be sacrificed to make just her loved ones come back - which is exactly what Reggie's whole plan was about. It's not a coincidence.
I did like Allison's descent into trauma and her being crueler and more openly selfish since they had mentioned in season 1 how she used to use her powers to get her way. I only wish that they had called her out more so it didn't feel so one-sided. They vaguely mention that Allison is having a hard time or that Allison is going through it, but what she did to Luther isn't really addressed, and she isn't really challenged when it came to Harlan, or the fights between her and Viktor. I think it's very in character for Allison especially at her breaking point, but I wish it had been a little more obvious that it was pointing out these flawed toxic family dynamics that they've had since they were kids that have never been meaningfully addressed. Because the way things with Luther are kind of glossed over and the way the fight is Allison being vindictive and Viktor saying nothing felt more like it just wasn't explored in the script and in the direction, rather than it being the toxic family environment. Especially because the way Reginald acts and his "parenting" and behavior patterns gets pushback now, but it's like everyone insists Allison is just in a mood and that it's unusual for her to be selfish or to use her powers to get her way.
@@AdmiralKomodo I agree they could've done more to show her trauma, but for me the psychotic breakdown and hallucinations served that purpose well enough. I'm torn about Luther, since it's never really adressed how she Wihspered her first husband? It's all about Claire, but she clearly used it on him, too - so I think it kinda WAS that Allison had her dark, selfish, abusive moments, due to their fucked up childhood. So I can see other Umbrellas try to just wait for it to pass and to give her space for her trauma between all the world-end busy-work. But you can see they know she's going too far in the 'we don't fight like that' moment. I just think by that point thereis too much of everything and the personal problems take a back seat. Agree it kinda sucks for the characters - I think 1 more episode could've given them more breathing room, but then you run into issue of pacing of the finale slowing down.. Hope they do more with Victor and her in season 4.
I'm an idiot because when they show the scene with Allison's daughter and Ray, my first thought was 'Oh, she's in her own little piece of heaven. How else would both Ray and her daughter, who are both dead, be in the same place at the same time?' I HAD ASSUMED SHE'D DIED AFTER PRESSING THE BUTTON. I thought that was the end of her character, with Klaus maybe channeling her later on so that they can all get closure, but I wasn't hopeful. I'm so embarrassed please tell me I'm not the only person who thought this
I would’ve actually liked this it would’ve made sense or if like she sacrificed herself for everyone making her go to the afterlife. That would’ve been a good ending
Most people are theorising that Train Ben is not Sparrow Ben, but a Ben in this timeline because the train, like you said, could be a reference to his mother, but an important thing abt his mom and that first scene is that his mom was already in a romantic relationship with a guy who was there when she gave birth to Ben, so that could be the Ben that was born naturally.
My only issue with Victor is that his siblings all had way too easy a time getting his new name and pronouns right. I appreciate it, but given my experience, it doesn't matter how supportive your people are, that just is not realistic
Same here it wasn't realistic but shhh, let's just enjoy some wish fulfillment for once! Luther wanted to throw Vicktor a party so he felt loved! Like that's a wonderful sentiment! It made my enby heart get all squishy.
I had the thought on that - and honestly? If there's any family that would get it right, it would be the Hargreeves especially, not just because of how they are normally but mostly because Viktor pre-transition as Vanya was more-or-less a non-factor in the family. He was locked up and sidelined for so long, he was more a concept than a family member for a majority of their lives as kids, and them knowing him as 'Vanya' was really a matter of getting used to him being around at all - having to switch the script a bit was not a problem because they're already rolling with enough plates. Like, the whole thing's not realistic, might as well have the fulfillment and euphoria. It helps knowing that it was done specifically in support of Elliot's coming out - he mentioned he was perfectly fine continuing in the role as Vanya, but they redid the script to fit the transition in as far as I know! Which is absolutely rad.

I don’t think that Lila is actually pregnant/ going to have the baby. The way that she was chowing down on “bad sushi” was so unnerving. They mentioned this sushi so many times too! FYI: It is dangerous for pregnant women to eat raw fish.
I don't think she's going to have the baby either. I think when Alison pressed the reset button, she literally reset everything including Lila's pregnancy. If everybody's injuries were healed/erased, what it Lila's pregnancy were erased too?
To be fair to Lila, re: sushi (not that the sushi was 'spoiled', I honestly took it as hyperbole given the strange circumstance of it existing) - what other food are you going to find in that area? It came off as stress eating, in-universe, and out-of-universe as a bit of scene-setting. Actors have to have something to do, might as well use the environment.
I always love watching this series knowing that it is filmed in my city. I actually saw Luther walking off set at the hotel and I got a photo with the front of the house with the blue screens up. It is pretty neat seeing all the lighting they use for filming!
I gotta be honest, when you said “We need to talk about the thing that’s keeping my parents marriage together,” for some reason I immediately thought you were talking about Elliot Page? I can’t even fathom my own stupidity.
Just finished this yesterday! I absolutely love this show and really hope season 4 ties it all together nicely. I do agree though, this season wasn’t exactly my favorite, but hopefully it just makes whatever happens next that much better.
Okay now I just want to see a scenario where ghost Ben is back but he's sharing a body with sparrow Ben and they are constantly hilariously bitching at each other because they're so different.
I see a lot of commentary revolving around the evolution of Alisson's character. So many great perspectives that have really made me think long and hard about my own experience watching this season. Personally, as a big fan of Alison's character in season 2 I was really shocked to see her slow descent into darkness this season but as many of you have said I think it was necessary. For a series based on time traveled and this season in particular mentioned how quickly they have moved through all the events of the prior seasons, it makes total sense for at least one of the siblings to be deeply mentally affected by all the trauma. Understandably, I do not want to rank trauma but many people have saidm even within the series, that what Alison had to endure during season 2 would have deeply scarred anybody. Regarding the pacing, at first, it appeared to be a very quick turn around but the more thought I give it thought, the more it makes sense considering the structure of the series. All of the major character development seemed to have moved fast this season. And in comparison, Alison's storyline did get an appropriate amount of screentime/development. Also, if I must think of an alternative, what more would I have ideally wanted? I don't really know. (Selfishly, for it to have been another new character to have turned dark but then it wouldn't have been as impactful to the audience.) I have some qualms about the criticisms of Alisson's actions this season. Obviously, the SA was a shocking and completely unforgivable act. Although, many people setting up Harold's situation as her "killing a completely innocent and defenseless man" makes me sorta confused. The whole family already agreed to sacrifice Harold and turn him over, essentially killing him. Secondly, Harold literally murdered two Sparrows in cold blood, and killed all their mothers how is he morally innocent? Maybe you can make some argument about not knowing what he was doing with the mothers but he fully intended to kill the two Sparrows. (And alluded to killing other people) Also, this is a show about deeply flawed superhumans, almost all the siblings have killed many people all in the name of saving the universe or dealing with their own trauma. Are we forgetting about Viktor's season one killing rampage? Killing Pogo?? I feel like people are taking Harold's death a lot harder in comparison to others and it baffles me, please my people help me understand your frustration!! Also, while Alison is very clearly written as an abuser this season some of the criticism regarding the past uses of her powers seems unfair. Seriously, as a fan of any superhero/mutant/magical genre, we all know this whole original sin storyline very well. And with power like Alison's, it was made for someone to abuse it. (Almost like someone was making an interesting storyline) if her power was to make people fall asleep and she used it to make her daughter fall asleep would people be that unnerved by it? Parents use medicine and loads of herbal concussions to help get their kids to go to bed. I'm sure there is some mom out there in the world as we speak awake at 4 am wishing she could do what Alison did. Personally, in the universe of Umbrella Academy it never really weighed on me that heavily in comparison to other acts. Now I know there are theories from the Comics that she Rumoured her ex-husband into giving her more affections and we can see how that pattern of manipulation led to her desire in the early seasons to not use her power and now this shift of her proudly using it as a tool in her descent into darkness. I think for me at least the moral line I draw with her character is when she uses her power to hurt/manipulate those who trust her for her own benefit. I think outside of the SA, most of her actions were understandable given the context and could have been redeemable depending on where she goes in season 4. I think that is why the SA really affects me and so many of us, cause it was a moral line I was not ready for the character I loved to cross. I really enjoyed people's perspectives touching on the storyline of Alison's abuse and how it seemed real and necessary. All in All, I'm really excited for season 4 (Since we got NO resolution this season) and a part of me is rooting for Alison to try and coarse correct but I can also see the fun of her being a big-time villain. Excited to be on this ride with a pretty great fandom! Later days y'all!
AMANDA OMG OMG OMG her book “Jetset life” is totally an Easter egg to MCRs three cheers for sweet revenge! The song “the Jetset life is gonna kill your” which could mean she’s gonna die later on!
Luther is so wholesome. And other than the whole SA thing, I can't fault Allison too much. But yeah that was too far. I also loved how they treated the Viktor thing. Again, Luther is so wholesome. I'm really curious how they'll expand the story.
You mention that was over the line, and can't help but feel that you forgot that as far as SA goes, she already did that, for years in fact, it is how she got married and got a kid. We found that out all the way back in season one. This is just who she is, the worst.
Thanks for your review. Was warned on fb about season 3. Harlen his treatment and the lack of equal accountability for Victor and Alison. So messed up. Especially after season 2 where they came together. Alison still being treated as golden child and Victor as scapegoat just nope. Not sure if you skipped over the implications about killing off a person thats an allegory for ASD/autism and meltdowns and a person that didn't deliberately act maliciously compared to Alison actively killing with intention. But that was my deal breaker to not watch this season.
Also a mistery that went unanswered was why the heck did Grace think the Blitz was a god? I thought there'd be a reveal later on, but no, it wasn't secretly a robot, it wasn't even sentient. It was, just as advertised, a big ball of destruction, so why would, out of nowhere, a robot butler start worshipping it as if it was a god?!
Not mad about how they handled Viktor's storyline. Like his transition seems like the most mundane thing to happen to the family and Luther tying to make him welcome is definitely in line for his himbo self. Though I do like the point about Harlan outburst on October 1,1989 being more of an accident as opposed to a targeted attack. I feel that if it was the later, that it would have added even more to Allison's storyline and how the audience would view her actions. Besides that, Klaus' training is only second to Footloose this season in scenes that I had to rewind because I laughed too much at.
Umbrella Academy might be a mess but it’s mess that I’m invested in.
The devil you know, kinda thing
It's mess I love and adore.

Yep
I always had a bit of an issue w/ Allison blaming Harlan for Claire not existing. Even if Harlan didn't kill their moms, there's still no guarantee that Sparrow Universe Allison would have ever met Patrick and had Claire.
It was pure Viktor had something that she didn't have a child(as he wanted to raise Harlan with his gf) and thus it was if I can't have it you can't have it mentality and really nothing more it was never about Allison's mother not being alive.
Allison was well beyond logic at that point.
I think allison just wanted someone to blame & take her anger out on.
Thank you! Since Reggie never adopted her, she likely would've never met her husband and had Claire.
That’s a pretty damn solid theory right there
Jennifer was his twin.
I hope we see more of them in season 5

Old 5 was probably the one who pushed the button in the last reboot and that’s why he’s missing an arm and still had the tattoo. And the briefcase technology was most likely based on 5’s teleportation ability. That would also explain why Allison was still messed up at the very end. Cause she pressed the button this time.
oh I like that theory!
That makes a lot of sense, especially since five hesitated before getting on the sigil, maybe in the alternative universe he didn't stand on it and Allison did
@@mitrazaker7483that would explain why hargreeves didn't want Allison to stand on, am loving this theory

People give Luther a lot of crap for being a lovable goof. It's a nice change of pace from the usual heroes we see with a no nonsense, assertive, maverick leader.
It’s nice to see Luther become a better person than how badly he screwed up with then Vanya in season 1.
@@sophieamandaleitontoomey9343 just say viktor. It's his name.
honestly I don't understand what Allison was expecting in the first place.
Yea but its still traumatic to have that think hope of seeing your child shatter to pieces.
Stanley's death was kind of funny
Honestly Allison didn't GAF abt her either, she was living her life in S2 without her for years. Her wanting Claire so desperately in S3 was a new to me
Plus clair is a rape baby (she raped her "husband")
I hope she still exists at least, then maybe they can fall in love again. I want our himbo Luther to be happy. :(
@@Lakeside80 oh definitely, I'm so happy for Luther's character development
Makes you wonder if the Luther will do an Alison if this is actually the case in the next season

If Allison doesn't experience consequences to her actions I will completely give up on the show

is allison going bad really THAT big of deal, she was always kinda villainy in the comics
I hope shes the main villain of s04 with a satisfying villain redemption arc, realising how awful she's been.
Will also say wish we had more Sparrow
I highly concur with the above points! I empathised with Allison, and understood why she was lashing out at everyone around her. But her sexual assault on Luther was disgusting, and inexplicably never brought up again, and she ultimately betrays her siblings to get her family back. Also, I wish that the Sparrows had been fleshed out more. They were built up as a major threat, only for yet another apocalypse to be the primary antagonist.
It looks like they haven't used her new power, accept to say she has it. Maby that Luther incident was supposed to happen without her realising it.

The entire fanbase was so willing to accept that the footloose scene was real.
I agree. The characters are reacting to events instead of causing them
The comic feels the same way on volume 3. Its a love it or hate it story.
my problems with the end of this season were mainly that even after klaus being the driving force behind the mystery of their dead mothers, nobody told him the truth after allison revealed it. i know it was tense because she had killed harlan but klaus was right there and nobody gave him context? he was the one most worried about that mystery and just dropped it after training with hargreeves.
You're forgetting that he actually dropped it when his dead mom literally up and told him to

My theory about Sloan is that Allison asked that Sloan be unexisted when the universe was reset out of anger of Sloan being with Luther
OOOO THAT'S A GOOD ONE, I'd like to think that Allison would really just be focused on Ray and Claire though but, that's a theory I hadn't considered
Given what she did to Luther, that tracks.

Wait what if that means she is dead because the jet set life killed her 😳
@@jaebreslin2851 i- 😳
You could tell that it was limited by the COVID restrictions, but the acting and general wacky tone kept it from feeling stifled or boring. Season 2 is still way better, but I respect 3 for what it is.
Yeah I feel the same way
You could say that with stranger things and I saw they took that too their advantage....
2 hours long.....
That doesn't really make sense because multiple shows that were being shot in the midst of the pandemic look even better such as stranger things and the boys
You know I totally forgot about covid restrictions and I was wondering why the season felt so weirdly small-scale. That makes a lot of sense
Ik as an autistic person it made me so sad :(((
@@livvlife Same... imo the whole Harlan storyline (like in s2!!) was handled for shock value and was super shitty. That whole plot line made me want to take the characters and shake them)
This. I thought this was a really questionable decision from Allison but given her desperation it made sense. Was still sad af though
She's Umbrella Academy's Scarlet Witch. She can make her own reality
Five is seriously out here having the worst month ever 😅
The good: The Diego story
Victor
The bad: what Alison does to Luther
Yeeeeeesh 🤢🤢🤢
She does do this and worse in the comics. It’s also not out of character for her to rumor someone romantically. She rumored Patrick into loving her. Claire is a child created out of relationship of dubious consent. (Edit: sorry if this came of insensitive. I know this is a sensitive subject matter and that people are completely valid in the opinion that this particular element shouldn’t have been used)
I was a really big fan of Diego's storyline - feels like he finally got a chance to shine.
Can’t wait to see your season 4 reaction. What the hell.
Season 3 feels worse given how season 4 played out, too
The one aspect I was disappointed with on season 3 was the powers were a lot less on show than in previous seasons? Not so much the fights, etc. but the more casual day-to-day use. Like Five, blinking to cross a room rather than walking across it. Heck, I don't think we see Diago use his ability even in a fight? Like did Viktor just use up all the effects budget?
So I hear this theory about why Alison is so shitty this season and I like it. When she rumours herself in the mirror, the mirror actually reverses the intended effects, so instead of making her happy, it makes her angry.
Evidence:
1. She isn't happy for the remainder of the season, implying the rumour didn't work
2. You'd expect her not be able to rumour herself, but we see the rumour flow into her ear and her eyes go blank, she doesn't struggle against it like we've seen someone trying to break a rumour previously
3. Given 2 we can assume that the rumour works and since given 1, the rumour can't be Happy it has to be something else -> mirror reverses to angry
That’s interesting, and I like it better than me hating the writers for ruining her character this season after she was so supportive of Victor in the beginning.
oh thats an interesting idea. I did wonder since it seemed like it bad no effect.
I heard the theory and thought about the throw away line “melt her mind with your rumor powers” meaning that if she puts enough force or intent behind a rumor it could have lasting damaging effects so when she rumors herself it lowkey “melts her mind” but the mirror thing is cool too
footloose seq. at the beginning was the best thing. i liked how out of place it was lol but fun nonetheless
It's always amazing how this show has so many things that can seem out of place but also completely consistent
@@AmandaTheJedi I couldn't stop laughing while saying 'what' over and over
I've honestly always thought Allison was kind of horrible.
And what she did/nearly did to Luther in this season was pretty much SA and yet she acted like SHE was the victim and he did something wrong
I liked the show but I'm super bummed that they didn't use the Sparrows more- especially Fei, she was so cool her character design was amazing
Yess she was my favorite of the sparrows and I felt like it didn’t make sense for her to die so early on.
Sure Reginald’s secret plot doesn’t fit with season 1 at all, but this season gave us Lila as a main, and she’s the best character.
Lila and Diego really stole the show in so many ways and ticked the boxes I always really appreciated with this show.
It absolutely fits season 1 - it just happened that Victor had to be restrained, Ben died and 5 dissapeared, so the plan pretty much FAILED.
My biggest takeaway from this season is…I am not a critic at all. I didn’t notice any real issues, I just sat down, had fun and accepted the madness.
Lmao same
Something that I think you should have pointed out is that Elliot Page was happy to keep playing Vanya but instead the writers and directors where like ‘haha, nope, we got you fam’ and rewrote the script for them. Massive koodos on their part.
Yeah I forgot to mention that and do really appreciate it!
well now I can say I don't hate vanya I hate victor.
They apparently also went back to previous seasons to change his credits to Elliot Page!
well obviously it is his character and I think what they did with his character was really nice and cool. like not make a big deal about it.
@@bartnail2856 why?
I'm really sad about Allison's development in this season. After what she did to Luther, I don't think I can ever see her as anything but a villain.
"time will tell, hopefully" is a brutal line to hear after s4
I'm okay with the mysteries staying open, as long as they can wrap it up with the final season
idc which i just wish the writers would’ve picked one. this sort of teetering on the line is not only frustrating but weakens the story as a whole. really disappointed considering how incredible the first two seasons were.
According to a different RUclipsr (Counsel of Geeks), Elliot was comfortable staying Vanya, but the showrunner wanted to make it a storyline

I will fight anyone for Elliot Page. I've loved him for decades.
i LOVED klaus in this season my bestie got the screentime, the plot relevance, and the new powers i've been wanting for him since season 1
You summed up my feelings perfectly! I want s4 for sure.
I thought I was the only one who picked up on the ben and Klaus thing what’s with this show and incest like….
(*referred to as Vanya because Vicktor's transition isn't in the graphic novels)
Alison assaulting Luther is also in the books, too.
Small spoiler:
*

Don’t read unless you’ve seen all of it, basically.

Stan isn’t number 10, because… Well, Lila doesn’t always speak the truth. He’s the son of someone she met in Germany, and she just took him with her to mess with Diego. He was obviously quite neglected and in a bad situation anyway, so he probably thought it was kinda nice to have someone care for him…
Anyway, he’s not related to Diego OR Lila.
Yeah that's life. People get away with a lot out here
I kinda love Alison becoming so unlikeable and jerk-Ben. Really interested in what they do with that next season. The Sparrows on the whole were a waste tho. And they could have been a really cool thorn for much longer in the season.
your og videos about the show are what made me watch it in the first place so im happy to see you covering season 3!
I love how none of the characters question how an Indian woman and a Hispanic man could somehow produce a white child. Diego believes Lila without question that Stanley is his biological son, and seems genuinely surprised when told that he isn't!
Omg I was literally thinking that I was like wait am I just dumb can that happen
Yes! I was watching with my roommate and she was literally shouting at the screen “he’s white, you idiot!”
I know! It didn’t register to me at all, even though it’s so so obvious.
Diego’s not the sharpest so I’m not entirely surprised that he didn’t realize, but the fact that no one else even pointed this out was just kinda dumb
Mexican isnt a race, which i normally wouldn't bring up, but in this case, i think it's important...
Agree with everything you said and I'm glad I'm not the only one who was wondering whether some poor woman had to push out a cube 🤣
Sloan felt to me a little like someone's Marry Sue self-inserted character. It was kinda weird.
@@materla4102 Or like an almost sexist straight man's fantasy.
@@lunavioleta001 yeah, or that
I went with the self-insert because she's reminding me too much of our cringe teenage starts in RPGs characters.
S1 E8 she “I heard a rumor you loved me.” So her hubby didn’t wanna be there
@@HecticVampireQueen this could be after they fought.
Just imagine all the things you'd do with her powers.
"Look Ben you're one by default" 😂😂😂😂 22:05
I’m thinking living through the racist era really change Allison “time travel mess with your mind” like 5 mentioned. She’s more testy now
There were always hints that Allison was mentally unstable.
"Do you feel loved?"

The world I'm trying to work towards.
just watched season 4 and i would love to hear your thoughts
OMG I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR LITERALLY ANYONE TO MAKE A VIDEO ON UMBRELLA ACADEMY SO THANK YOU
I think a big issue this season had is that they promised a very different one than what we saw. I get that trailers show very little information but all the build up and the hype was the umbrella vs. sparrow conflict and that was a side plot that got halfway abandoned. So on top of too much plot and too little answers there was the disappointment of not getting what we were waiting for.
I love the Victor and Luther moments this season was so sweet seeing them being supportive brothers
[This is AFTER her first step into controlling her powers in season 1, mind you, so she regressed from that way before season 3.]
Yes, she is clearly suffering from PTSD and trauma from her injury and time in the past, but that's explaination (and honeslty, so are other characters, but I don't wanna get into Trauma Olympics), not an excuse to make it all fine and okay.
I love the dynamic between Victor and Luther omg. Luther really grew on me this season
@@kraziiXIII I know! He asked him to to be his best man! It was so cute
It's a mental illness.

I noticed that too, but to be fair, she isn't exactly the most sane person. It's worrying and cringe but not out of character.
I don't think she's going to have the baby either. I think when Alison pressed the reset button, she literally reset everything including Lila's pregnancy. If everybody's injuries were healed/erased, what it Lila's pregnancy were erased too?
That makes a lot of sense but also I hate that, I feel like Diego and Lila really held the season togetehr
(Selfishly, for it to have been another new character to have turned dark but then it wouldn't have been as impactful to the audience.)
I have some qualms about the criticisms of Alisson's actions this season.
My biggest question was how does one give birth to a square? Was it a baby and then later turned to a square? Or was it all squares all around? 😂😂
I KNOW RIGHT? I wanna know Christopher's backstory! Was he always a cube, did that happen gradually, did Reggie do something to him???
