WOW!! No shortage of beautiful old things here!!! Just love it all, especially the Easter bunnies, cats playing music, and the carnival glass collection. Thank you, Scott!
I remember those hearing tests. Teachers always worried about my hearing. But soon learned to never sit me by the window because I was an avid daydreamer. 🤣
The hearing test things early 60s for me. What a lovely trip down memory lane. So many of my dad's friends/family had some of those items. On the ornaments, we had a lot of those on our tree. My mom had them from girlhood on & would tell us how fragile they were & couldn't be replaced. When we did my mom's estate, she only had a few of them (4 or 5) out of about 3 dozen left. So nice to see that there still are a few around.
Oh my, the things you saw in this place! Impossible to pick a favorite. I was one of those kids who sat in front of a fan and sang into it! We were visiting family in Texas. I loved doing it, because what I heard was my voice singing only with other voices singing in harmony. I was fascinated by it.
I remember hearing this song as a child and my mom helping picking out my Easter Bonnet with me. I don’t hear this music much any more. What a shame! All the good nostalgic memories are going away or already gone!
I thought I was just going to tell you my favorites were the sears pictures and the cats playing the musical instruments, but then you showed the Christmas! Lovely, thanks!
Thank you again for bringing back so many wonderful memories. I grew up in the 50's and remember so many of those things. We were quite privileged when we were the first on our street to get a tv. Our home had all the modern conveniences for the times, but my grandmother in Canada still cooked on a wood stove and used a hand pump for water. I remember all the men had to leave into the front room when we had to bathe in a big enameled tub in the kitchen! We would mix the cold water from the hand pump with the hot water from the square water reservoir on the side of the wood stove. At bedtime we would use a kerosene lamp to go up the stairs to bed. No internet then. Our time was spent climbing trees and being outside and playing in the barn and swimming in the river when we went to Canada. Best memories.
I used to enjoy browsing in antique shops and shows but am now not able to get around very well. With your easy going pace and right on target music selections I feel as if I were there in person. Can't wait until the next one! Thank you Scott.
We roamed the woods. We built clubhouses (or tried to). We skipped among any kind of farmanimals, helped in the field, the stables and in the garden, learned to cook and to bake. We visited each other, all it took was to ring a bell. We read books📚 in front of the radiator. We rode bikes and horses. 😳🥺🥲 Life was much better when we were young....😄👍
What did we do without the internet? The list is long.... we had a lot of fun and were so creative with the many kids on the street. Great memories. I'm 12 years ahead of you and I do remember the likes of the audiometer. Stereoptican cards and viewer were the introduction to the ViewMaster :) Rainy day perfect day for antiquing - thank you for your time involved in taking us all along.
I can't rightly remember when my hearing test was conducted...could have been in nursing school during my pediatric rotation.---I have a stereoscope, and oodles of wonderful cards. A neighbor even bought a camera adapter & went nuts taking/mounting cards for me! He bought a stereoscope so he could see his own (had to have one to adequately mount the photos!) ---I saw many wonderful things in that stroll! This was fun. I'm happy to come along! OH, AND THE SOUND OF ALL THAT LOVELY RAIN...sigh.
I was fine without the internet. We rode bikes and ran, climbed trees and went to the Laurel Pool. Back in the 60's it was one of the largest pool in the country. Well, anyway, I liked the Red Toilet. Who the heck would have had that
Wonderful music, and those old toys!!! I felt like in an old time story. My dad was a Otorhinolaryngologist and he had a few audiometers as time went by. I never had seen quite that kind of audiometer, but I sure remember the headphones and the sounds, it was so funny, you never knew what sound you would hear next !!! Yes, I guess in those times everything was funny and exciting...
Loved the variety of the salt and pepper shakers. Beautiful pink jar to put on a dressing table.. What a variety of things love the Christmas and Easter. The stero cards reminded of my view Master. I gave to say not sure about the hearing test I graduated HS in 1975 LOL. Beautiful Carnival Glass
You did not disappoint 👏 what a lovely lovely video. Holiday, Eleanor Roosevelt, purr-fect music. Fyi I remember the ear test from grade school and I'm 67! Thanks again for sharing.
I love this shop along videos this antique shop was great a lot of awesome treasures to see love the all the Easter and Christmas pieces looking forward to watching the other 2 videos take care
I loved the Sears stereopticon cards! I used to work at an old cord switchboard just like that, right out of high school in the 70s. It still had a clothes brush for the women's long skirts attached to the wood panels.
As a former speech therapist back in the 1970's I used that same type of audiometer to screen hearing levels! And the beeps went from very low to very high hertz pitches in tone and gradually reduced in decibels or loudness. It looks so archaic now! Love your videos! 😇
You know up until recently they still used the audiometer? They may even yet be using them in many schools. I wad an ER nurse for years, but went to school nursing as I got older and ended up retiring a couple of years ago and we still were testing the children with them. "Raise the hand on the side you hear the sound on". I was saying it in my sleep during screening time😂
I remember those hearing test and I remember when the mobile dental unit came around for check ups and fluoride treatments. Oh how times have changed! ☹️ loved the video especially that nostalgic music selection. It reminded me of life in the 1920’s and 30’s. Not that I am that old ! 😂
What a wonderful trip Scott!! I remember those hearing tests in school and yelling into the fans!! Looking forward to part 2 of your trip & sending hugs!! ❤️
What did we do without the internet? Rode our bikes, flew kites, built forts, played tag. We watched Hee Haw on Saturday nights and then chased fire flies. Sigh
Yes all of that. We also roller skated. Remember skate keys? We played hide & seek & tag & hopscotch. Played with paper dolls too. We did lots of things.
The battery operated trees at 14:25 shure do bring back memories! I didn't want to spend my allowance on new batteries so I tried to electrify one with an extension cord .⚡⚡⚡⚡🤣
I am in Love with You and how you remind me of things from my past ..im turning 50 in September...ugh! Anyway ,i think you are very witty and enjoy watching you videos ..i laugh outloud often!
Im so stinking excited, I won my first bid from your shop!!! Can't wait get it and to add it to my collection! Hoping its the first win of many!!! Thank you, Scott!!!!
such a lovely thing to do on a cold and rainy day and I didn’t have to do the driving to travel and see unusual antiques. 😍Thanks so much Scott for providing such great entertainment!👍🏻🥰
So many fun things! Love the salt & pepper shakers and the sassy, hands on hips bear gave me a giggle! Love all the cute seasonal decor, too...especially all the vintage bunnies because they're so _Eastery_ ! 😆 😉
My hometown was so small we didn't have a nurse or a cafeteria ! No hearing test. But I guess if there was a prob you would be sent to the county nurse office downtown . We had one blinking stoplite . 🤣
Oh my gosh I saw so many wonderful things I would love to buy!! I need to go to Lancaster for some of my videos !!!LOL🥰 Thanks Scott for the fun tour!!!
Now I am just itching to get out to visit the antique malls and barns around me. Everything is starting to open back up for the summer and the yard sales are slowly starting up as well. Time to start treasure hunting again.
And speaking of what we did pre-internet, anybody remember doing homework assignments or taking tests that were run off of mimeograph machines? That blotchy purple ink made for a lot of blurred copies and confused students! LOL! I also remember talking through the rotating fan blades and pretending my voice sounded like Darth Vader! Plus, the digital age couldn't reproduce the warm analog sound of the vinyl records and cassette tapes that we listened to on a regular basis. My siblings and I would often borrow my dad's Radio Shack portable cassette recorder and make a bunch of goofy recordings. Summers were spent playing outside with Tonka trucks and riding bicycles instead of being glued to the monitor of an iPad like today's kids are. I could go on and on with one fond memory after another, but the point is that I was very fortunate and blessed to grow up during the era that I did. I wouldn't trade those memories for the world!
Good afternoon, I'm so glad your video came up! Yes I remember that testing thing. We had that in grade school. You'd raise a hand when you heard it! Crazy. 😂. I love your thrift shops there! So many great vintage items!! I inherited some salt and pepper shakers from my. grandma. I had
Sorry.ph acted up. The corn shakers were in my collection. Always a joy to join you. So relaxing and great to see how many items are in existence. Priceless!! Makes me happy!! Take care. 🌷🌷🌷
Love the stuffed bunnies & chicken ! The indignant Mama Bear too funny. So many things to look at and remember. I do remember getting our hearing tested. The ceramic kitten band were too cute. I’ve never seen them before. The old fans brought back memories of hot summer nights. My Mom put the fear of God in us about getting too close so there was no talking into the fan at our house...if you did you could lose a nose or finger she assured us or she’d just kill us for disobeying her ! Love to go antiquing with you. Thanks for the trip & more to come.
One of the most appealing things about antique shops to me is how they have x-mas items up year-round. It could be the middle of July, and there's plenty of x-mas decorations to be found at your local shop! Anybody who loves vintage ornaments and lights like I do would've had a field day at this place, and most likely I would've left with an empty wallet too! LOL!
I must be turning into complete sap, as it is not my vibe, but I'm in love with that Mama bear! Even tried to find one on the webs. Thank you for taking us shopping.
Wow, that was magical! I drifted back through time. The music was so effective, like the movie, "The Wizard of Oz". Really elegantly done, thank you Scott!
Hi Scott, That was so fun. I loved seeing all the different items. I'm 5 yrs older then you but I do remember the hearing tests in school. Do you remember on picture day they would give you your very own comb? I have to tell you I won the 1930's light blue swung glass vase. I'm so excited & so glad I raised my bid. First time purchase from you because I just found your channel. I love watching you & your creative, informative, make me happy videos. Love your black cat too. RIP Salem. TFS Stay safe & ✌
Wow those images from the Sears and Roebuck looked identical to the old original Sears warehouse in Memphis TN. that was repurposed and now called the Crosstown Concourse.
What a treat to see what is on the shelves in Pennsylvania. But Scott, that mad momma bear was saying share some of that rain. Come on man. Why do you guys have to get all of the rain. Share some of it with other people like in Nebraska!!!!!!! lol (hearing the rain was the best part)

We did so much without the internet. I feel bad for kids, they are missing certain authentic parts of life, or do I feel this because its it's part of my authenticity? I do remember the hearing tests. Funny! You remember the low tones, I remember the high pitched tones! :-D
Keep telling yourself I’m not 55 yet couple more months my friend and you’ll be getting your senior discount at the Goodwill. Did your nurse also check everybody for head lice that was mortifying now that I think about it and I remember crying because I didn’t get to go home and my father said the kids that went home had cooties. But they got to go 🏡 What did we do without the Internet we put on plays and shows we made our own tickets 🎟 we invited the neighborhood kids to come we got in trouble because we ruined mom‘s bedspread by making curtains. We took colored wire from bell 🛎 telephone 📞 trash can and made rings using lightning ⚡️ bugs lights as the jewel. Now I realize how cruel that was. Made our own doll house furniture. Put on viewmaster 🎥. 🍿 movies. Thanks for taking us along on the antique avenue. Must shine my shoes and put on my Easter Bonnet 💗🐰

Cute salt and pepper shakers. Nice trip
I love my trips to Lancaster!! Abundance of antiques and things to do.

1973 I had finished my freshman year of college. They tested my hearing using an enormous speaker at a Deep Purple concert. LOL.
Wonderful visit today thank you.

We have a place like this in Stroudsburg, Olde Engine Works Antiques. It’s wonderful!! Never tire of visiting.
Great trip ..loved all the doll house furniture 💕

Our school district had a small specially equipped bus for hearing testing.
Really enjoyed and as thank you so much for sharing
I thought I was just going to tell you my favorites were the sears pictures and the cats playing the musical instruments, but then you showed the Christmas! Lovely, thanks!

I remember those hearing tests! But I am 60 years old! I remember many of the things your viewing, seeing such things as a child. Seems so long ago!
Thank you for sharing!
I absolutely remember getting my hearing tested. I remember the beeps being very high pitched and seemingly far away.
My son and his family are moving to Lancaster next month. It will be fun to visit some of these antique shops!!

I like the old cloths pins
Was that song Red River Valley, and did anyone else think those red salt & pepper shakers at the beginning looked like a part of male anatomy?
The opening song was "When You and I Were Young, Maggie"
@@patriciayohn6136 Whew! Glad it wasn't just me! Lol 😊
All that doll house furniture reminded me of your glorious doll house. Did you see that bed with the chenille painted bedspread?

I tried but I just couldn't remember 3rd grade in 1973. I have a few dim memories of third grade in 1958, but I don't remember that testing thingy.
What is that lovely tune you were playing at the beginning of the video? Well you had your rain today Scott, but we had our snow today up here in Canada! Trade?
The opening song was "When You and I Were Young, Maggie".
We did so much without the internet. I feel bad for kids, they are missing certain authentic parts of life, or do I feel this because its it's part of my authenticity? I do remember the hearing tests. Funny! You remember the low tones, I remember the high pitched tones! :-D
Liked the music…
Keep telling yourself I’m not 55 yet couple more months my friend and you’ll be getting your senior discount at the Goodwill.
