Liking and subscribed. We like your adventures and your content. We boat on lake superior in a 28 foot Searay up in Wisconsin and seem to have a lot in common. Your R25 is sweet!! The SUV plus of the water. Well done. I'm considering one for us. From our port in Wisconsin we are thinking of doing a great lakes loop including the Trent Severn. I believe this may pass your neck of the woods at some point. Take care and safe travels.
just found your channel…loving it…recently retired from military and considering one of these Ranger Tugs/Cutwater boats to cruise in…have you ever considered a solar generator like a Bluetti for an additional power source?
We have a solar panel that came with the boat. It does a good job when the sun is out. Through the night we use the 2 AGM batteries to keep the fridge and cabin lights running. if the batteries are low we will run the small honda generator for half an hour to bring the batteries back up.
hi Ken, Salt water is definitely more corrosive . You will definitely need antifouling paint on the bottom of your boat. Thanks for the kind words. we appreciate it !
Just found your channel. I'm surprised that you don't have radar on your boat considering where your at. At least I hope you have a radar reflector mounted. I'm hoping your VHF radio has AIS enabled?
We have none of that. I spent all of my youth and the rest of my life on the water guiding in in Florida and in the north. These wonderful devices are great to have but are not required. My father and our family sailed all over the world, nobody had radar, auto pilot or AIS. If I had the money I would definitely have auto pilot and radar, but it wasn’t in the budget and it is not going to stop us from doing what we want to do.
Tom, at some point julia and I are going to take the boat to the West Coast and when we do,we will definitely make sure we have a radar. In the Bahamas only about 25% of the boats have radar. That’s because you just don’t need it there. nobody travels at night time because it’s so shallow. And there really isn’t the fog like they have on the West Coast.
I would suggest watching the RUclips channel tim b at sea. Although he pilots a commercial tug boat, he's got excellent comments on small boat captains. He's got a small boat himself.
Just stumbled in to you guys, great vid! We're in Pompano Beach, Fl, (Last Mate) and the islands are def in our plans! Been trying to figure out storage, so we really appreciate this video! Which Yakima model did you go with? Most Thules don't fit, and we were thinking about 2 of them......How was your crossing? did you wait for fairly flat seas? I'd think that 3 to 5 are a no go....we have a 2023 RT 27 and the 8'6" beam can be really rolly. Liked your idea of surfing the G stream, very smart! For us it's a straight crossing, probably hit Bimini first and work down the chain from there. Thanks for the info! Will stay tuned!
Hello Krent, we talked about the crossing in episode 16 . check that one out for details. I believe we went with the 7 foot Yakima . Happy boating and thanks for your support of the channel .
Excellent video! It was great to see the potential of the R25. You guys are doing some amazing things with that wee boat. Gives me some great ideas on how to put my own R25 ‘The Maggie May’ to work. Please keep them coming. Best James.
Thanks so much for the feedback James. On the days when the editing is taking hours comments like yours help to boost morale! Maybe someday our paths will cross . Until then , enjoy your adventures on the Maggie May.
I love your videos and your ideas. I bought a 2021 RT R25 LE about one month ago. You're addressing all of my questions and issues with each new episode. Keep them coming! Thank you. Judy ❤
That’s a great build to carry stuff! Glad you guys are having a great time in the Bahamas. The water there is so beautiful! Since I hate cold and snow now, I wouldn’t want to leave. 😄safe travels. Looking forward to all the fun videos to come. 👍🏼😎
Hello John, Mike passed these rack dimensions to me: 8 foot x 25 foot x 5/8 plywood. 7 foot x 3 inch x3 inch aluminum channel. I hope that is specific enough for you. Cheers!
John , to be completely honest it wasn't in the budget. The 25 offered enough of what was on the must have list, but we loved the 27. Happy to have you along with us.
@@expeditionseanest thank you. I love the ranger Tug and the C-Dory. I hope to have one in the future to do the great loop with. Yes, I have spent the morning watching your videos.. You do a great job. Learning a lot. Thank you so much.
Lovely video, as always. I just wish it were quite as easy as you say to drop in to cruising the Bahamas, or going from the cold to the exotic, just like that. A large chunk of the European land mass and the Atlantic Ocean are just a couple of the hurdles, for a start 😊 In any case I am happy to see you doing what I wish I could. I am almost as happy that there are signs of Spring finally arriving in the Czech Republic and our boats cab get back on to the rivers. Looking forward to your next videos and seeing an insight to the places that I most likely shall never view. One of the very view channels that I always watch and look forward to.
Stephen, you are correct, there are so many hurdles to achieve this. It was not our intention to sound trite but more to encourage everyone to go out and do what they love. That wasn’t so clear in the language that was chosen . We also watch many videos that take us places we will never go but are inspiration to us to go outside and enjoy life. As always, thank you for the feedback . We love to hear from you each week.
Nope. Don't fill your gas can to the top and you won't have a problem. If you still have problem buy a new gas can. We carry up to 4 3 gallon gas cans and have never had a problem.
Can't wait to see more!
Thanks T Mac … you are the best!

Sounds great CP. Superior is beautiful! Safe boating and enjoy the loop if you do get there. Georgian Bay is well worth the trip!
Great job documenting the roof rack modifications!
Thanks Traci! Glad you enjoyed it. And thank you for

Thanks for sharing. I wondered if such a boat could get safely to the Bahamas. Now there is an answer :)
I had hoped you would see this Ofer as I remember your prior comment. Lots more to come !
Looks wonderful, pleased you guys had such a great time. I'm looking forward to seeing some more video
Thanks Michael...more to come stay tuned.
Thanks for all the advice and for showing me how to build the roof rack. I will plan on making one for our new R25 How long and wide is it?
Thanks
Our pleasure. Glad it was helpful. The roof rack is roughly 2 feet by eight feet .
great videos!! just wondering what it takes to transition from fresh water to salt water??

What an inspiration you two are!
Thanks Motorbike Mike! We appreciate that . We all do it in our own way . It is amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it.
Did you motor from Canada to the Bahamas?
I guess you trailered it.
hi Bob, yes we trailered it. You will see some of that on our next video. Great to hear from you, Mike

hi Judy, that is a good boat you have. I’m sure you’re going to have lots of fun in that and it would be a great boat to take to the Bahamas someday.

Thanks for the lovely feedback Urjunk!
Great video, looking forward to more! I’d love to see the specs on your terrific roof rack, which I could potentially adapt for use with our R-23.
John , I will get after Michael for the specs. I’m not sure he actually thought someone would ask for them😂Thanks for the positive feedback.

Gas on top leaks gas to bottom...bad news for boat safety?
