The SpaceMouse Wireless Kit - Full Review

- 3DConnexion have dropped their CadMouse Wireless and SpaceMouse Wireless 3D mouse, along with some other goodies, into a sweet kit, bit of discount, and you've got the SpaceMouse Wireless kit. But is it worth that extra coin over just buying the 3D Mouse on its own?

Spot on review Neil and great to hear you like the Wireless Kit!
Thanx for the review! I ended up purchasing this setup. I'm sure it'll be good for my purposes! Thanx again!
Want that kit!
Great video and review as usual 😊🍻
Thanks muchly, get that kit!
Awesome review!
I would just be cautious about having a space mouse. One big drawback to it is....people unfamiliar with it just love to come up to it and touch it while I work! Or when someone puts drawings on my desk, put it on the space mouse so it either scrolls through an open PDF (which is REALLY nice that you can use it for scrolling through PDFs, also to note that Adobe reader supports the space mouse better since you can scroll sideways with it).
Solid review as usual.
I love my SpaceNavigator Notebook and considered the wireless but it is a touch too big to fit in the slot I have in my Pelican computer case.
I considered the cad mouse but have used a Logitech Trackman (thumb marble) for years and it is far easier on my wrist and forearm that a regular mouse. I know a lot of people who can't understand how I use it but just like the SpaceNavigator once you get use to it it is hard to go back. Plus I often run into situations where I am working in the field and just do not have the space for a regular mouse/mouse pad setup, the Trackman doesn't move so it can sit anywhere and doesn't need a pad.
As always thanks for all your videos. The really help beginners like me figure out how to make Inventor useful.
Update: I adjusted the space in my computer case and now have the SpaceMouse Wireless and absolutely love it. The increased weight helps keep it in place and it is great not having to constantly connect and disconnect a cable.
Would this work for doing 3D in other software (Maya, Blender...)
Also, do the space mouse and cad mouse work well together?
I'm sold on the space mouse but do you really need both?
I have this kit and this review is pretty much spot on. The only thing I've found is a bit of lag when the navigator is running wireless, so I have mine permanently wired. I think it's more likely to be my cheap pc though.
Yea I've never felt any lag at all, it's running over the 2.4GHz wireless channel which is pretty damn quick so there's not going to be any noticeable input lag on that, likely is the PC you've got.
Considering the mouse itself costs over £90 would you consider a gaming mouse to be a better option? I have a logitech g402 mouse which has 8 programmable buttons which can be assigned to any keystroke allowing you to set each button to operate any number of tools within and piece of software. It also has a shift key which allows you to basically assign two shortcuts to each button including left and right click. It also allows individual shortcut profiles which automatically change depending on which program the user is working in at any given time. I currently use autocad more than any other piece of software, and I currently have 3 different left clicks assigned. One runs the copy command then clicks ready for you to drag a box, one runs the move command then clicks as before, the last one is a simple left click.
Given that other companies are producing much higher spec mice with more features for less money would you still recommend people use this mouse?
excelent.. thank you for information
Thank you Neil
I use my Spacenavigator with a MMOA mouse. The macro buttons work great in combo.
Ray Davis I do the same. I have AutoCAD text commands mapped to my G600 side buttons.
“And you get another yet micro usb cable to add to your collection over in the corner”

Going to hold off buying one of these - I may not need to after render wars is over :P
Nice review.
Just curious, could you use these mice for camera view in gaming on pc?
Also, would these be advisable in virtual worlds, similar to Second Life?
Advice for getting the mouse mat, but wanting a wrist rest?
Can I use it also as a actual mouse replacement or will I need this and a mouse as well?
how do you dissemble the space mouse wireless for repair
Next one from 3dconnexion should be Cad Mouse Enterprise with lots of buttons - similar to logitech g600.
Then: Enterprise Kit.
Been using a 3DConnexion space mouse since 2008 myself and it always gets attention both in industry and out. Example, I used to travel for a company around 2010-2012, and I would take my space mouse with me... Only once, but I'll never forget, I believe it was at DIA (Denver International Airport), I was flagged and stopped as the TSA agent did not know what I had in my bag, therefore I was required to step aside, remove all of my belongings and explain in depth exactly what it is and what I use it for. The whole time, the three TSA agents had this bewildering look on their faces as they did not understand. Luckily, they were good with it and I was on my merry way. Thank you for your time in these videos Neil.
Hi teach 3d and everyone, may I know the currently Firmware of SpaceMouse wireless? I don't is mine is up to date
I'm looking to build a budget system for cad and I'm not interested in gaming. Should I get the Radeon pro wx 3100 or the gtx 1050ti, which would perform better and I'm not in any need of vendor support just the best bang for the buck
Hard to say without knowing which CAD you're using but I'd say the 1050Ti
TFI - CAD & Technology For Industry alright cheers
I concur (sorry, just rewatched "Catch Me If You Can") completely with Neil here. I recently asked for and got exactly that set, same packaging and all, at my new job. Nobody understands, sort of like Neil's vid on the super wide curved monitor, but I just said I needed it and they scratched their heads and said, "ok... I guess." Great value on the two items. I'll get the larger Space Pilot for in-office use later on, as it has a few buttons I actually use (along with all those I've never used). The quality is good, especially the mouse. The... actual... mouse *.
* I resent them calling it a 3D mouse, Space Mouse, or anything-else-Mouse. It's not a MOUSE. geez. It's not used to move the cursor or pointer around the OS environment. It's used to manipulate a 3D object or environment, right? So why call it a mouse. I just find that to be annoying.
We know 3DConnexion has the only devices any real professional ever actually uses at work, but I'm surprised at the quality of the mouse. Best I've ever used, and I've tried a lot of meese (mice? mouses? hey if the plural of goose is geese...) and other 2D input devices over the years since they took away my AutoCAD digitizer in a past life. It's the perfect mouse all around. And the $50, $80, even $100 meese are crap, chincey, gadgety, poorly engineered. LEDs all over don't impress when it lasts a couple months and breaks. LOOK - just stay out of the computer stores if you want a professional use mouse. Go to the manufacturers of the very best and pay the price - it's cheaper than overpaying for cool-looking garbage/rubbish target marketed at gamers. Itll end up in a closet until it is no longer compatible with anything. Waste of time and money. Get this 3DConnexion set if you travel, present in a conference room, or teach classes, or if you are just starting out and don't have good equipment yet.
Hey! Where to buy such a sweatshirt?)
Ooof I love that intro music, name of the song?
It's a proper golden oldy 90's dance track, remix of Natalie Imbruglia - Smoke by Allistair Whitehead ruclips.net/video/58OW7fVyhXM/видео.html
Ah Cheers mate, thought it was 90's but that boomy beat caught my eye or... ear should I say
Logitech MX range are just so much better for CAD and way more comfortable when used over long periods of time
You took me back a ways with Natalie Imbruglia...
Should I Buy this if I am a engineering student?
Do it. Use student discount.
The Build quality is insane on these 3D mouses you just need to get a cover for it to protect it.
No thats not a fair comparison of sliding... Cut the wire on the old one and then you slide it... ; )
i tried the spacemouse for work but i ended up never using it i prefer holding shift when rotating my designs but thats my opinion
2using tracball with cad
Fuck it, if it's good enough for him its good enough for me.
"USB C Wouldn't have added anything to the device" Yes... it would add cost =P
The addition of usb c is only 50 cents more for the manufacturer
I've had the space pilot and mouse, and they both packed up working - and no joy. Couldn't get it touch with manufacturer. All fir coat and no knickers. Looks like quality kit but isn't. I will never touch this stuff again.
Doesn't work well with autocad 2019.
No wireless charging? LOL
Wireless?
You still have to plug the “wireless” charger into the wall.
More real estate/ wires around the outlets
For wireless charging that isn’t wireless..
No thanks.
