Another great one Luke, loved exploring those remote places in our Landcruiser back in the day. Remember it well because my wife was 37 weeks pregnant at the time and we had to drive from Sydney to Perth because my wife was too pregnant to fly. (we were relocating). We had left Broken Hill when we got stranded and it turned into a great little adventure. The weather meant we got stranded in the Olary Hotel, in Olary with a population of 5 at the time, for a couple of days with hotel manager and 2 hunters who entertained us with many great tales of the history of the place. Great memories. It was an amazing spot and we felt like we were sitting in a lost place in time. Thanks for watching!
Nice trip luke. Looked like you lived like a king on that one.
Ate a lot better on this little overnighter then I normally do 😆
I could smell the outback. Been a while 😊
@@meredithgreenslade1965 Fantastic place!!
The Mallee Outback . . . another one of Victoria's . . . Secret!
Yeah absolutly!
Another awesome video
Thanks for watching.
Just got back from a week camping in the Big Desert in Victoria.
Great hut.
That sounds great. I haven't done big desert or wyperfield yet but I plan to.
@@TheBeardedBushranger If you want great and free campsites in the Big Desert check out Stockmans campground, Big Billy Bore campground and Berrook campground.
I would also suggest some under body protection for your Pajero as I think I'm about to pay for some driving on the sand tracks without it pretty soon.
@@oldbloke204 Thanks for that mate, I will check them out. And yeah some bash plates, snorkel, 2 inch lift and a winch are all things down the track that will be on my list of 'upgrades' ... now to raise some money 🤣
@@TheBeardedBushranger No worries mate.
The Paj is an extremely capable vehicle and our family has had a few Mitsis over the years.
I have a Pajero Sport, my Brother has had 2 Pajeros from new and my Brother in law has a Triton.
One thing to watch out for is that some models of the Pajero have had failures with the oil cooler that's bolted to the side of the engine which allows coolant/oil to mix and cause issues.
Worth finding a mechanic who knows them to check it out if you plan on doing solo/remote work imo.
Thanks for the videos mate.
@@oldbloke204 Thanks for that mate. I'll let my mechanic know so he can look into when I go for a service.
It looks dry at the moment but when the wet comes it will be different story
Yeah I'm sure it really comes to life!
@@TheBeardedBushranger yeah I have been a cook on cattle stations the last 14 years all over australia…so I have seen all the weather patterns, droughts flood etc…
@@meganh731 Ohh good stuff! What's your favourite place in all those travels?
@@TheBeardedBushranger well I loved Oodnadatta south aust where I worked on my first station …but now all these years later…after stopping cooking I find myself in Darwin
Awesome 😅
Thanks mate.
Great video mate, I would also like you to include more detail with cooking your meals, what it tastes like etc, cooking segments are extremely popular with many content creators. 👍🏾
Cheers mate. Yeah so for the most part I don't really get too much into the cooking side of things. I actually think this was pretty up there for my standard of cooking haha
Another nice one Luke . Unfortunately for me I cant help see all the damage that sheep and cattle grazing has done to the natural balance of the land, plants and animals when I go to places like that . Yes i do see the beauty as well and am fascinated by the history too good and bad . Happy camping and exploring . thanks for another look into history and the land
Yeah totally understand that .. I'm sure there has been plenty of damage, including all the soiled waterholes. Do you think areas like this are slowly coming back to their original state?
Very interesting Luke, good onya 👍Cheers mate🍻
Thanks for watchign mate.
@@TheBeardedBushranger really enjoy your content mate, wishing you and your crew all the best.👍
Pan sized Tbone perfect
Just the right fit!
Watching this on the TV and it's good to mix up the walking and now a driving video, exactly not a 4x4 get bogged etc there is enough of that but a real touring drive with history. Walking or driving all good.
Did you need any permissions before going into MSNP??
Thanks mate, yeah I don't mind the odd 4wd touring vid here and there. Though I do prefer to huff it on foot like the swagmen did.
So MSNP is open to anyone, no permits or bookings needed. And like the Alpine NP it is very cruisy with disperesed camping.
i love getting high as a kite and watching this fella, awesome stuff
😄
I just like getting high..
Did someone say hut ? 😅 Nice video mate relaxing site by the looks of it....I could go on for ages about cattlemen and the people down here both country's have the same values good to see people like us enjoy and respect it hats off To ya mate nice video 👍
Haha yeah it's more like a cabin / house isn't it.
Both countries? Thought Tassy was part of Australia! Some mainlanders miss us off the map too.
@@glennbrown1961 😆 I assumed he meant country like 'landscape' .. etc Murray river country, Mallee Country, Alpine Country
@@TheBeardedBushranger yeah I mean the same landscapes and history, I meant different states not country's lol my bad

Good one Luke! I wondered what kind of snake that was. Aurora was pretty special.
I only realized I got the aurora when I checked the footage at home. I was very surprised. It's been amazing how much aurora activity we have had this year.
@@TheBeardedBushranger I know right! Natures magic! 🙂
@@TheBeardedBushranger ps got that next vid out, finally! 😉
@@SamClarkPhotographerAdventurer I'll have a look. I love the baw baw area
@@TheBeardedBushranger oh thanks so much Luke. Yeah, its a great area, and not too far from home.
Come to North WA if you want to make these actual survival challenges. I fill my Yeti up on my way out the door of work every day incase my car breaks down 😂
W.A is a whole nother level. I wonder how many Victorias we could fit in W.A 😆 Don't they say that W.A is the texas of Australia haha
@TheBeardedBushranger Haha yeah it's crazy that Cambodia and Thailand are closer to me in Karratha than Melbourne 🤣
Do you have a link on your chair Please Luke?
altongoods.com/products/ultralight-chair
That is the chair I use. THough it is pretty pricey. You might find something similiar for cheaper.
Red belly black snake ! 😊
Yeah had more of a yellow / orange belly I think!
What the heck did the cattle graze on
Yeah I know what you mean. But how different was the landscape 100 to 50 years ago?
nice video dude
Thanks mate.
read king in grass castles im related to who made it
Cheers mate I'll look into it.
Boiling water, a spoon of ground coffee, leave, stir & settle ✅️. Watch some joker will come up with, "not old school", chew the beans & swallow the water! 😂
haha I like that, chew the beans and swallow the water like a real man
14:43 Man I thought that same snake outside had come in and bite you!
I did check the room I slept in for holes before i went to bed
What tyre pressure did you settle with ?
20 psi. Tracks were pretty good except for a few sections I almost came undone. But for the most part didn't need to go under that.
@@TheBeardedBushranger To reinflate do you have a compressor installed or?
@@pressb Just a cheapo compresser that plugs into the ciggerate lighter ... takes bloody ages. I just reinflated them up to about 28 psi once I got off the sandy tracks and then I took a back way to the nearest town so I was on gravel road and not tarmic. Once at the local servo I put them back up for the long drive home on the highway.
Hey Luke - Have a read of 'Voss' by Patrick White if you get a chance. It's fiction, but so also is Ludwig Leichardt's place in the spiritual realm. Great read from 40's
I have not, but now that I've looked into it I think I need to get it and read it. Thanks!
We pray for Israel from Durban South Africa
Uh ok .. this is Australia though mate.
Adventures in the never never
Outback really is the heart of the country.
Don’t forget the women who lived in the outback as well. They were just as tough and resilient as the men.
Aboslutely! The classic 'drovers wife' by henry lawson is one of my favourites. I'll make sure to mention some more stories / history of women as well in future vids!
Sometimes tougher! 😂
You have to 4WD to the location Luke! Otherwise it would be one video a year if you had to walk to all your destinations. 😂😂😂👍

Yeah for sure.
Someone should fix up a stove your car is a bit near the fire
Yeah it would be great to still be able to use the stove. I actually parked my car like that on purpose because it was blocking the wind that way from blowing too hard on the fire.
No thanks 😮
Fair enough!
Please always try be you more than Scotty and bamman . Be yourself even if your just another Alton goods guy. Originals prevail. Copycats become forgotten
Hey mate, little confused at this comment. Are you saying I'm being a copy cat to scotty and bamman? I'd say I actually stick to making videos of what I love (specifically Australian history) and I'm not really fussed with trying to copy someones style? And with the gear, for the most part I'll be using traditional gear .. but on a car camp or every now and then I bring out the modern stuff like alton goods
T bone steak here in Canada is $55/kg today. Who can afford that ?
@@Islandwaterjet far out. This piece cost me under $10 bucks Australian
Wtf, I get a nice dry grass fed aged rib eye (cattleman cutlet) for aus $45 a kilo or 2.3 pounds. T bones are about $35 or 30 canadian for high quality grass fed. I heard you all are being bled dry over there, everytime someone talks about cost of living Canada is always mentioned here.

The old ways of the bush- so where is your talk of the aboriginal people. Or what old ways are you referring to? Settler colonialism?
ruclips.net/video/ueBsLYkcihs/видео.html
You'll find throughout different videos on my channel I speak of the indigenous and their relationship to the land. But yes being of Europeon descent, my channel speaks lots about the Europeon settler heritage from the 1800s to the 1900s.
But .. one thing I should add is this. The history of the swagman, the Explorer, the stockman, the shearer, the digger, the tracker etc is not just European history but also indigenous history. It's a shared history as many indigenous were also involved in all those fields
no way it's a hut it's a house plus the outback is full of tourists so your not alone mate Fair dinkum I can't believe the city people
