- Today we have a fire bender and earth bender with Bolin and Mako in Dungeons & Dragons! If you want to be solid as a rock, or hot as a fireball, these builds are the best for D&D 5e!

"We'll make Mako first because that's what their parents did" fucking killed me. 10/10
"Asami has sole custody of of team avatar's one brain cell" is the most accurate description of lok I've heard
Yeah but feel mako was allowed to use it some times
@@emperorxander666 he was a cop, I certainly hope he had some time with the brain cell
Mako rents his from Lin
Honestly though, these are awesome characters.
Is it wrong that I want to see a Team Aang versus a Team Korra one-shot battle now? Of course, waiting for Tulok to make Sokka and Tenzin or his brother Boomy as character builds would make the match up a proper 5-on-5.
If I were adding another member for an "unofficial" team avatar member it'd be Jenora because she's amazing and underrated af, and closer to the right age group
@@randomim42
I can see Jenora as an unofficial part of Team Korra. Still, I would like to see builds for an Air Bender, preferrably Tenzin, for Team Korra and Sokka for Team Aang.
@@burtmillard9196 ...Jinora is an Air Bender, though. Honestly, probably more proficient than her father anyway, due to her strong spiritual attunement. It's even a plot point that he gets a bit jealous of his kid showing him up. And she technically interacts with what Team Korra is doing slightly more often than Tenzin does. Very technically and very slightly, as neither character directly parties together with the main group too often.
His name is Bumi btw.
The match would be fucking hilarious because korra would just immediately supplex Aang no bending required toph would sucker punch mako katara would drop Bolin Sokka would try to go against Asami whod nope out and electrocute zuko and leave Sokka and suki to deal with Varrick and zhu lis bullshit
I didn't realize until this video the glaring absence of a "floor is lava" spell in 5E. (Homebrewing one isn't particularly hard - concentration spells that turn an area into difficult terrain and deal damage as long as a creature's inside it already exist, so there's a basic template already - but with the concept being as straightforward as it is, the absence is still notable.)
Adding fire damage to spike growth would be a quick version of floor is lava.
@@jaredpuwalski8545 Or adding fire damage to Erupting Earth! Literal volcano. Under your feet.
In 3,5 you not only had one, you could cast it on the ceiling and have it drop on top of your opponent
Phantasmal Force:
Hallucinatory Terrain(4th level), and Mirage Arcane(7th level) might be able to accomadate your needs.
Missed Mako's absorb elements for some lightning redirection.
If you manage to get someone in the wall of fire don't forget to use stunning strike to keep them there, so that they take all of that sweet sweet fire damage which you should be boosting with elemental adept.
"You can make him a murderer!"
Doesn't Mako totally kill that waterbender without arms when he electrocutes her?
You could see on his face it was an accident (that -1 INT doing extra work).
At worst, it was Unjustified Self-Defense (not even Involuntary Manslaughter), and most courts would rule Justified Self Defense, given who Ming-Hua was and Mako's repeated calls for her to stand down.
@@sofer2230 oh I wasn’t saying he’s in the wrong, I was just pointing it out
1:08 "Dodging fireballs requires some quickness, and you don't wanna get roasted by your own fire."
Yeah, instead, he's just getting roasted by the fandom.
I’ve been waiting for a revamp of the Toph build. Toph was the first video of yours that I saw because I wanted my DM to feel conflicted about fighting a young blind girl. Now I can do it as a big dumb himbo. Thanks Tulok
Druids are great Earthbenders, and now there's no flavoring needed with Wild Companion.
Alternatively, Circle of the Moon Druid and hold out for elemental wild shapes.
On the nineteenth day of Christmas
My good Sr. Tulok brought me:
Twenty Elemental Bros
Nineteen Rebeld rogue ones
Eighteen Mutated fellowships
Seventeen Full-Shoto fighters
Sixteen Eternial friends
Fifteen Self-destructive teammates
Fourtheen Marvelous Mutants
Thirteenth paternal blood bonds
Twelve dreamy rivals
Eleven bottled pirate ships
Ten Martial fighters
Nine Red starfleet uniforms
Eight Fantastic Couples
Seven Rebel Spirit cops
Six Lively toys
Five Angry space wizards
Four Hunted devils
Three Prideful Greek heroes
Two Crime fighting gals
And a lemur up in a pear tree!
😅😅😅😅🎉😅😅
Pabu isn't the powerhouse he's the friend that "deals" with the bodies you leave behind with the bloody shovel
Bolin is the heart of team avatar, Pavu is the powerhouse.
I didn't watch yesterday's builds since i've only finished Season 1 of rebels, so i'll watch this one twice to make up for it
That Bolin lip sync was to perfect 🤩😂😂
I was already going to upvote, but "bolin for soup" was top notch.
I’m imagining team avatar running across a mind flare or something and Asami just turning to the group like hey maybe you guys should just… leave???
"Nut-tuk movies are the Avatar equivalent of Space Jam..." Wow.Just wow. You never fail to amaze me with all these associations. Rad creative lateral thinking, Tulok.
All this builds have been great this month, all the time actually.
Fire Shield doesn’t give you immunity to fire damage. Only resistance to cold/fire.
MAKO DOES THE BEST THING A COP CAN DO, HE STOPS BEING A COP
You're so great
We've still never seen a pure airbender on this channel, meaning we still need a Tenzin build. But great job with these!
"Mako does the best thing a cop can do: He stops being a cop."
Tulok got political PUNCHES this episode. I see you, Tulok. Tell us how you REALLY feel
He puts political message in most of video. I love it and he doesn't break character.
@@somik-i3x I know, but they're extra spicy this time around and I love it
Roasted fire Boi on the 1st 2 min. I love it.
Now whe need my girl Zhu Li. She is best girl and can always do the thing!
I really need to see a Team Korra versus Red Lotus one off on this channel
Thank you so much for the bowling for soup reference!
"Mako does the best thing a cop can do: He stops being a cop" Tulok ily
Tulock: I only hang out with ppl who can do backflips.
Me: well shit there goes that hope to ever hang out with the barbrarian
Try hard and believe in yourself
Fun Fact: Action Surge is one of the few (if only) ways to cast 2 non-cantrip spells in one turn.
Cool Builds. One thing to note for future builds is that you need to be able to cast a spell to pick up elemental Adept so you might need to start as sorcerer after all. Minor thing to note for the future, love what you do
I’ve been waiting for these two, thank you good sir.
Shout out to Bolin, best boiiiiiiii
I thought the mako should have inquisitive rogue levels to distinguish him from other fire people
I am convinced that "Bones of the Earth" was singularly inspired by Toph's move against the Dai Li.
Bones of the earth is basically that one move Toph did against the dai li agents.
20:42 (shudders) You just pushed my "eager for a Mega Man (classic) build" button.
Mako could technically take blue dragon, electric attacks are 'extra hot fire'
I can’t be the only one anticipating a Vi and Jinx video soon, am I?
The official Avatar youtube channel recently made a skill tree for Bolin and his charisma was one of his skills, so that should have been his top soft stat. They also gave him vehicle proficiency so he'd need that here.
one day tulok is going to make a "reach out to me" joke and someone's actually going to do it
Love the trick of making their abilities. And the jokes are great for this video
"Mako does the best thing a cop can do; stop being a cop"
This one sent me 😂😂😂
It's to bad he couldn't take erupting earth. It's the only lava spell I could think of. But you could flavor conjure bonfire as lava in my opinion.
He did take Erupting Earth, didn't he?
Yeah, Bolin did take Erupting Earth. Maybe ask your DM for a higher level Phantasmal Force that affects all creatures?
Honestly Bolin was way hotter than Mako and Korra had bad taste in men
But great taste in women
@@rhiarose9436 facts
Finally doing the best LOK character
Oh yeah, and Mako is here, too
Sorry. For Mako, you cant take elemental adept at first level if you start monk. It has a prerequisite of spellcasting
Top notch music puns in this one.
for another set of brothers we could have finn and jake from adventure time , great builds btw
Benders are literally the definition of variant human! It's funny!
Commenting for engagement!
I'm actually surprised that Mako doesn't wind up a fighter
Thank you, please do INVINCIBLE next preferably battle beast
I know it’s UA but would Stone soul sorcerer do any good for a Bolin build? I’m just a big fan of plying sorcerer
Yes there is no elementals adept for bludgeoning but there is the crusher feat might not be what you were looking for but still
I'm sorry but are we gonna ignore the kim possible reference in this video? "rupert to your ron" 11:55
Personally, I would swap Bolin's wisdom and charisma scores.
Also, a bard dip wouldn't be out of character, because movie star.
I think that's background, not class.
Bolin is going to be so much fun 😁
This is dope…..can we get possibly the Zombie Duo? Hidan and Kakuzu?
"Rupert to your Ron"
uhhh....? I'm guessing that was meant to be Rufus and was just a mistake, unless there's another Ron with a rat buddy that I'm not familiar with.
Play on Rupert Grint and Ronald Weasley, Weasley has a rat, if you were joking, I'm sorry, it's late xD
@@neonsmith2802 Seems like a stretch to me
Thanks 4 the hard work
Well cant take elemental adept at first level because you need to be able to cast a spell to take the feat
I thought fire shield only gave resistance not immunity?
it does only give resistance, and some reflective damage. I don't know what version of fire shield he has ... but it sounds OP.
That's correct, and as such, with Elemental Adept, it would do nothing.
So, you would absolutely not be able to be inside it without getting trucked by the damage (inside the 20ft diameter sphere means every space inside is within 10ft of a portion of the wall).
But, locking someone else in with Bolin's bending is absolutely ruthless, especially since WoF is opaque so they won't see the Stone and might try just going through, only to find themselves trapped.
For even more ridiculous, have a Polearm Master/Sentinel near the only exit and have them lock them in place when they enter that character's range. If that character is also a Battlemaster Fighter, you can use Pushing Attack to shove them back in the circle with 0 speed.
I'm glad he didn't use Twinned Spelled, since any spell that ignites stuff can't be Twinned.
I comment for engagement
Fabricate is the real "Minecraft spell," but that's a lv4 spell.
Can u do characters from World Trigger? Like Kuga Yuma, Tachikawa, etc...
Still need a build for: Iroh, Sokka, Suki, Mai, Ty Lee, and Azula...
Earth and fire
Weed and lighter
I was really not ready for a legally blonde reference huh
You should do Azula
Is there a sub class for monk that deals with dragon stuff like sorc with dragon stuff?
Way of the Ascendant dragon added by Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons. Tulok mentioned it when picking Mako’s monastic tradition
@@kahliltijidor6107 thank you
Is there gonna be a Mel and Ban build?
Mako is a cop, but it's ok! He did the best thing a cop can do: Stop being a cop.
Gottem. Hope they have burn heal.
Oof, four elements monk is more in character. But unfortunately now you have to play RAW four elements monk. That's rough buddy.
Honestly internally I feel bad for Mako.
Two girls left him, and then those girls proceeded to date each other.
Talk about bad luck.
Imagine being him and realising that you are the reason your two seperate girlfriends realised that they were into girls before they then go onto date each other, that's gotta sting to some extent.
@@bean2562 “Was I really *that* bad??” lmao
OR be happy that you helped two amazing girls you're good friends with find each other.
@@randomim42 that is the mature approach, yes. But feelings are often immature
Yeah, at least Esca cared for Bolin, just in her own very very very very very very odd way
Avatar let’s go
Ahh i see you studied himbology the study of himbos
The 1985 is making me loose it. Maybe it's cause I really lava Bolin
Hot take: While AtLA is more accessible and still an absolute masterpiece, LoK is the superior show for people who like nuanced morality and complex villains (excluding Vaatu). I’d even argue that Amon and Zaheer fall into the category of “the villain has a point”.
well sure but have you ever considered the fact that korra is a girl and there for a mary sue with no notable character traits in spite of her numerous arcs and personal growth?
Honestly, as much as I appreciate the show’s attempts to display different political philosophies, the writers reeeeeally don’t understand said philosophies and I kinda reject the notion that any of the villains are all that nuanced. It’s not even that Amon and Zaheer ‘have a point’, they’re just *correct* but the writers had to either reveal that they’ve been hypocrites all along (even if that wouldn’t weaken the validity of the ideas themselves), like in Amon’s case, or to make their ideas completely incoherent, like in Zaheer’s case, to ‘disprove’ their ideas because they don’t have any arguments against the philosophy. I recommend Kay and Skittles’ *phenomenal* “Politics Bending” series for more fleshed-out arguments.
Personally, while I enjoyed Korra, it felt like the show abandoned themes from one season to another, specially with Amon and the benders vs normal people angle and how that was dropped wholesale between seasons with no explanation or exploration. While the topics were more nuanced, the exploration of them was surface level at best. Also Atla does have nuanced topics.
@@bean2562 Oh, shit, you’re right. Her gender and innate control of water, earth, and fire totally overrides her difficulties with airbending, discerning corruption, navigating her emotions, thinking before acting, and her PTSD. Also, I can’t personally figure out how her bisexuality makes her more of a Mary Sue, but I’m sure someone has found a way to argue that point.
Responding to Mozilla and Babz, those are definitely the weakest points about the show, but I think it’s worth noting how much executive meddling was involved in these decisions. The first two seasons were each created in a vacuum, and it’s not like Nickelodeon, as a subsidiary of Viacom, would have been cool with a message of “Communism is great, actually.” That said, I would have liked seeing a more satisfying resolution to the Equalist conflict, even if it was just a throwaway scene where the Republic City Council was discussing ways to adequately protect the rights of non-benders.
Lava time
First. Does this include their Pro Bending Career? I’m curious.
Why wouldn’t it?
Can Suki and Sokka get a video?
Why not go with way of the ascendant dragon?
Maybe the video was made in advance before that subclass became official. Or accuracy to Mako outranked uniqueness priority.
Tulok….there’s an Investigator background in Van Richten’s.

Im here for anti cop Tulok. ACAB
After your last video did such a great job with Blob and Toad, I wondered what a Lance Alvers aka Avalanche build would be like! Bolin’s build does give some idea, and I appreciate that.
Oh and I know his name in the comics is Dominikos Petrakis, because he’s very Greek, but X-Men: Evolution was my introduction to the Avalanche character and gave him a lot more to do than the comics.
For him, Custom Lineage (mutant, duh) with +2 Charisma and the Persuasion skill and the War Caster feat. Take the Criminal Background for Deception and Stealth. Focus on Charisma stat because going with Unearthed Arcana’s Stone Sorcery Sorcerer, and pick every stone/earth spell available. You go 15 levels of Sorcerer and you just get high enough to get Earthquake in your capstone 20th level. But 5 levels are spent in Fighter, for Second Wind, Action Surge, an Extra Attack, but most importantly of all the Tunnel Fighter fighting style. Combine that with your War Caster feat and Quickened Spell Metamagic, you can dominate the playing field with spells to... dominate the literal battlefield. And take the Battle Master archetype to further influence the battlefield with maneuvers like Bait & Switch, Commander’s Strike, and Rally; in X-Men: Evolution at least, Lance often falls into the de facto role of leader of the Brotherhood when Magneto and/or Mystique are absent.
Go for like... 15 Charisma, 15 Constitution, 13 Strength, 10 Dexterity, and 10 Intelligence and 10 Wisdom. Bump up Charisma and Constitution, add what you can to get Strength into an even number, get some friends, a Brotherhood perhaps, to watch your back and then rock out!
(Does that work or have I misunderstood the applicability of War Caster and Tunnel Fighter? I’m not 100% sure. Anyway, happy holidays everyone, hope you got your shopping done in time!)
Tunnel fighter and war caster should synergize, yes. I do feel the need to point out that Tunnel Fighter will never be made official, since it's widely seen as op/exploitable, and they basically distributed the feat among the Cavalier subclass
Thank you for clarifying, that makes sense. I suppose if a DM allows the Stone Sorcery but is a stickler for banning Tunnel Fighter fighting style, replace with unarmed fighting (Lance isn’t unwilling to throw a punch) or superior technique for the... commanding presence maneuver. When you can cause earthquakes with angry thoughts, people take note of what you say!
Also, should have mentioned, Battle Master’s Student of War feature allows a tool proficiency, so pick Mason’s Tools to be better at demolishing structures.
Dropping int is not a smart move
Ragnar Lothbrok next! 😀
I thought Korra was the one who was not...
...headed...
Dullahan or Headless Horseman?
Can we get a Huey and Riley Freeman from The Boondocks video?
2:10 You say that, but who you gonna call when someone kicks in your door at 1 in the morning?
Also, thank you for sticking to the lore for all your builds. It's much more interesting.
The cops aren’t gonna get there in time to save you
@@danielc4071 Then they can clean up the bodies, or solve the case.
@@AmericanAurochs, anyone with proper training can clean up bodies and 40% of murders in the US go unsolved. Also if you’re admitting that they’re not gonna save you from death then what the fuck is the point of police, why not just have a community watch? A community watch would probably be able to get there in time to save you because they would only have to watch over one small part of the city, instead of the entire thing.
@@danielc4071 Point number 1. Fair enough.
Point number 2. Whether or not the police, paramedics, or neighborhood watch would be able to save anyone in that situation depends entirely on how determined the attackers are, and how much ammo the defenders have.
Still a good community watch is always a good idea and many crimes have been prevented by them.
That being said, what's your plan if the watch does catch someone in the act of a crime? Where are you going to put them? Who is going to guard them until they can be tried?
@@AmericanAurochs, there would be a holding cell in each district and they would be guarded by rotating members of the community. The difference between the police and the community one would be that the community watch will be made up of members of the community and they will be subject to recall if they broke their oath to the community. Where as the police are not accountable or if they are, they are accountable to internal committees which of course are going to be lenient.
do this with zuko but make him a kensei monk and it becomes a more accurate build bc his not a gish character and firebending is his main form of offense instead of being a supplement to his swords
@@RiptidePen I don't think he was suggesting a remake. I read that as advise for players wanting to play Zuko.
For zuko I'd suggest 7 levels of redemption paladin, and 13 of draconic sorcerer
@@RiptidePen it was more so advise for a remake of the zuko build, which i thought was kinda lacking
