What's the point of Seeing Red and his lyrics now when you release songs like Curse and Whiplash and say in interview you are at your best when you're angry ?
Finally someone mentioning Demi God, what an underrated song. I do really enjoy this new song for what they are going for, but these songs so far, while being bangers, have not connected to me in the way the songs on FTTWTE and the previous records have. I do still think some of the lyrics in these songs are quite well written, but the overall mood has shifted towards a sound and lyrical style that more often than not kicks in the front door instead of being more "open" and grandiose. I think the next record is shaping up to be a good to really good modern metalcore album, but is not going to challenge the listener all that much.
@MeZame-l2u In a perfect world, the more gentle and open elements of FTTWTE would exist on the same record as a song like Whiplash. That really would be the sky, the earth and all between. @@str1897 for me, it's terrible, because individuality has died. if you used to be able to recognize a band in a few seconds just by sound, now it's almost impossible. i stopped listening to architects because of this. i don't hear architects anymore, i hear bmth. If everyone sounds the same, then there's no point in waiting for new releases from a particular artist, I can just listen to any other artist and get an almost identical experience. as for me, this could be the beginning of the end of an entire genre of music
It’s a very different style for Architects, even from the past two albums both of which were alright (FTTWTE was considerably better), but I’m still excited for a new project by them because these past 3 tracks have been bangers, in my opinion
I feel like up to 2017, Architects led the genre and each release dictated what core would be for the next 18 months. I feel like that's flipped, now, and they're the ones following..
Gonna be devil’s advocate here for two seconds, but that flip that happened in 2017? That came from Tom Searle passing away. He wrote literally everything for the band, both lyrics and music, and he pioneered a style of riff writing that bands still follow. Losing Tom is almost entirely the reason why “old” Architects will never come back, because everything prior to Holy Hell came from his brain and his brain alone. He was the key to that sound. This isn’t to take away from what the band is achieving these days, and it’s certainly not meant with any disrespect towards Tom, they’re bigger than ever and the music they’re putting out is still a great time. They’re still one of the best to do it and they’re still one of my favourite bands (I wouldn’t play guitar if it wasn’t for them), but the music they’ve been putting out since 2017? It’s from a set of different brains now. They clearly didn’t want to just riff on Tom’s style and half-ass it and end up as a knock off version of themselves, so they’re doing something different that speaks to them. In doing that I’d argue that they’re still in the process of finding the identity that was lost with Tom being gone, and that means pulling ideas from the newer bands that followed them. Sadly that’s the nature of things when as a creative group, you lose the brain behind it all, you all need to find your way again, and that’s led to some wild creative turns on their part.
New singles are definitely better than the last album so far (even though I didnt hate it, but It could have been better for sure), that being said I certainly hope we get more like FTTWTE if they continue in this direction, as I liked to sound they were going for on that album even though it was different than their past/previous stuff (which is obviously my preffered/favorite sound from them from around 2012-2018, though I love the mathcore era stuff too from 07-09 for sure). Lyrically I feel this track is a sort of Discourse is Dead 2.0, with some references to These Colours Don't Run (à la the "everything is fine" line).
It's okay, but architects used to be more technical and interesting. I'm not a musician, so I'm not sure if technical is the right term. But these new songs are fine; they feel kind of basic, and there are many other bands that do the same kind of sound and they do it better.
IMO this is a precursor to a more mainstream arena rock/dad rock era for Architects, just like Parkway Drive when they released the IRE album. I don't hate it but it won't keep me coming back like the old sound.
While it’s not the same as when Tom was in the band-and understandably so, given the new guitarists have different writing styles-I can still appreciate their evolution. The last two albums didn’t quite hit the mark for me and did affect how I viewed the band overall, though there were a few standout tracks. With their latest music, while it’s clear they’re not reverting to their old sound entirely, they seem to be making an effort to balance heaviness with a style that appeals to longtime fans. It’s obvious they’re still experimenting, and I respect that; every band grows and changes, and staying stagnant isn’t the goal. I think "Whiplash" is a decent track. It’s definitely miles ahead of "Gas Mask"-that song was just dreadful, to be honest! This new track at least has echoes of their older material while still pushing forward. It’s not perfect, but it’s a step in a direction that feels more familiar without sacrificing their progression.
I felt the same way-it sounded pretty generic and didn’t offer anything new compared to what we’ve already heard from them. I really appreciate your honest reactions!
For me, they can make anything they want soft or heavy. The one thing that hooked me in to this band was Sam’s sing/scream ability on the chorus’s. The power in his voice was something I’d never heard before. And that’s been gone since Holy Hell. Sam can CLEARY still do the sing/scream but they are just choosing not to do it. These new songs are good but man just give me a couple apocalyptic choruses on this new album please!
Bad omens vibe for sure ... people want to hear creativity from a big band as architects not a medium commercial song. I hear in this song original ideas I first heard with bands like resolve which renew themselves in each songs but not with the same budget. Thanks for your honesty
I feel the same...I never got into Architects but their older stuff had more recognition value.. Nonetheless you should react to Dexcores new song Paramnesia its a freakin banger🔥 It may be not your alley but its a fun ride and thats what reacting is about right🙏
Probably my favourite of the new singles but yeah it's very generic and typical metalcore with the big stadium chorus as they've done for the past few records. The 2nd breakdown bumped it up a bit and I'm excited for the full album but definitely haven't been vibing with them as much after Holy Hell although they're still one of my favourite bands. The new Thornhill song on the other hand is a banger so looking forward to the reaction for that
I haven’t enjoyed anything since the holy hell album, having loved everything before it was a missive shame because i really loved this band, but i actually quite like these singles, a step back in the right direction i think, especially after the disaster what was the last 2 albums 🤘🏻
If architects didnt have a previous discography nobody would have a problem with the music they're putting out. It's okay to make 'generic' songs. Architects do it well, the songs are fun, that should be enough.
For me Architects used to be all about Lyrics and atmosphere, and it's safe to say that this new era of the band,.. well doesn't do that anymore, it's just generic & heavy for the sake of being heavy. And this is coming from a life long Architects fan... but they sell out shows and they are getting more popular so I guess it's working for them.
Dunno if you'll read this, but check out Starve's debut album Life's Promise Dies. It's disturbing, head pounding metalcore with a THICK and chonky production. It's also very short as well, and a great experience.
Architects used to release 10/10 songs for me personally and now they’re either hit or miss, sadly miss most of the time for me… If this is the path they’re going to take I don’t have a problem because they’re happy with it.
They cant write songs like the old stuff because Tom wrote most of it before he passed. They had to relearn and reinvent themselves and unfortunately not everyone connects with it
Once I accepted that they will never go back to the LT/LF - AOGHAU sound, I must say Whiplash is AMAZING. Last 3 singles are the awesome, so much energy. They are less techy and progressive but got more fun, and energetic !
It is a very predictable song (apart from the breakdown at the end), and isn't much different to what Architects have put out recently, but I still love it! This era of architects is definitely my favourite, but each to their own
This build up for the breakdown.. heard it in so many songs and so tired of it. Imagine if you listen to a metalcore song for a first time. Then you'll definitely like it.
Mhhm, solid song again. But apart from the second breakdown, no big surprises. Catchy chorus, aggressive verses and a bit more social criticism in the lyrics again. But I somehow miss the depth. Damn, I love these guys and I've always found something good on their last albums, but the last time they really flashed me was with Animals.
Now don't flame me for this. Just like it's said in the video, we all have opinions. Now I find it interesting how people can judge a song. Personally I don't care about the lyrics too much or if it's original and interesting or whether it's generic etc. If I like what I hear I like it and if I don't like it I don't like it. I don't care about anything else. But I guess everyone is different. Personally I love this song.
Architects will no longer be the mind blowing band that drops songs that push boundaries. That’s bands like counterparts boundaries even Currents. But architects is a safe band to listen to to get exactly what you want and expect. Heavy music, with good breakdowns. And the catchy chorus. They are a dime a dozen now a days. But architects are still one of the best to do that.
New Thornhill if you want something you WILL like... :D

Well there used to be a reason for the "Architects" name tag.
I still listen to them every now and then but it won't beat their prime era.
@@deviltelletubbieStop speaking sense, they don't care about facts lol
I think they've now managed to find a decent balance between their older sound, and blending FTTWTE and CSOABS together. I quite like it.
I don’t really see any of the old sound or ethos in this tbh
Thank you for your honesty
Love a RUclips video that connects to a previous video.
You the man bogdan!
I understand their last album is quite different from the others, but Be Very Afraid is a gem 👌🏻
All music is now "mixed Zakk Cervini" so that's part of the sound haha
2014-2018 Architects
You will be missed
It's ok. 6/10. Unless they go back to their "Holy Hell" sound,I can't see myself getting very hyped.
IMO this is a precursor to a more mainstream arena rock/dad rock era for Architects, just like Parkway Drive when they released the IRE album. I don't hate it but it won't keep me coming back like the old sound.
Maybe it's time to realize they are getting into the same way as Asking Alexandria.
He sounds like the guy. ;DD
What you SHOULD be checking out is the new Killswitch Engage track, cause well it has riffs
Architects seem to be held to a different standard.
Please listen to new Dreamwake!! (There's a saxophone)
It's definitely better than what their last album offered. That's not saying much but it's an improvement.
It's cooler than most of the last architects stuff. But still... yeah... if architects then ATGHAU or earlier stuff.
The last decent album was "Holy Hell" imho.
All the rest is mediocre, unfortunately. They don't have a clear path to follow...but this song is nice.
Jordan Fish low key uplifting and killing the scene at the same time.
Keep it real as always, Bogdan. The song is enjoyable for sure but isn't one to go back to for me, as is typical of recent Architects.
Better than other singles, but still kinda meh for me
Artificial suicide main riff is literally one note repeated through the whole riff, and it’s in a different key. What are you guys talking about
Dunno if you'll read this, but check out Starve's debut album Life's Promise Dies.
Did you just anticipated that a song was going to have chorus?
I like it but youre so right man, its not that unique Architects style anymore, which even FTTWTE still gave me...
This song is all about the chorus
i got doom soundtrack vibes from this song, i love it
They cant write songs like the old stuff because Tom wrote most of it before he passed.
Bro that new Save Us EP you gotta react to it, i like it more than their first EP!
This sounds like the most average possible modern-era BMTH song
It is a very predictable song (apart from the breakdown at the end), and isn't much different to what Architects have put out recently, but I still love it! This era of architects is definitely my favourite, but each to their own
This build up for the breakdown.. heard it in so many songs and so tired of it.
Imagine if you listen to a metalcore song for a first time. Then you'll definitely like it.
Bro you are nut this song is fire
Mhhm, solid song again. But apart from the second breakdown, no big surprises. Catchy chorus, aggressive verses and a bit more social criticism in the lyrics again.
But I somehow miss the depth. Damn, I love these guys and I've always found something good on their last albums, but the last time they really flashed me was with Animals.
It is what it is, GatewayCore
More important: Aviana released a new banger, Bogdan 😎💯
No, it’s not good. It’s amazing! Mik Gordon industrial style rifs + Sam’s vocals is everything I need right now.
its a good song, but nothing special, fun heavy but lacks the deep and meaning of the old ways like you said, this is parkway architects
Let's be real, the beat isn't taken from Bad Omens, Bad Omens took it from Deftones Headup
If I wouldnt know its Architects, I wouldnt guess it's Architects. Nothing that really sounds like "their" sound.
You missed the best part on streaming platforms there is a Gordon Ramsey sample at the end 😂😂🤘🏻
It’s a good brand of music imo..
It's more of the same from the last album but with fake anger added
