They managed to not only pay homage to 50+ years of Star Trek music, but added to Star Trek's musical legacy. Bravo!
Easily the most powerful version of the TMP/TNG theme. You could feel the buildup to the reveal, to Power up, and then as The Enterprise D summoned tremendous energies. She launched gracefully towards the stars, where she is reborn! Her family, and her Captain have come home, and she is ready to fight for the sake of their children, grandchildren, and the Federation itself! Their Mortal emeny has returned. And once again she answers the call! Pivioting towards a course at a Maximun Warp, toward's Earth...And the BORG!
5:39 The return/resurrection of the Enterprise-D, the Grand Lady of the Fleet! The music is so beautiful. 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
If Stephen and Freddie don't win an Emmy for best score, it'd be a crime. Incredible job. Picard Season 3 feels like a10 hour Next Gen movie
I need to thank these gentlemen. This score still brings me to tears. Bravo and well done!
Stephen and Freddie had such big shoes to fill given the legacy of Star Trek music and its composers, but boy did they rise to the challenge! The way they weaved in well-established themes with their own memorable music is amazing.
8:53
"She's perfect, Geordie"
Would go to see this in concert if they did it again.
Leaving Spacedock is my personal favorite cue in the last... decade? So many callbacks to the people I grew up with and now gone.
10:47 - 11:01 I'm not crying, you're crying!😭
Jerry Goldsmith would be proud....Well done!!!
Not just him, James Horner too, I haven't heard modern music quite as evocative as his in a long time.
Simply the best interpretation of TNG's theme, I'll always see the resurrected Enterprise D heading to save the day in my mind when I hear it... She's as beautiful as the day we lost her! Goldsmith would be proud. (and I love the lead violinist throwing up the Vulcan Salute during the background of the conversation)
nod to Stephen as conductor: particularly in the last section. He look supremely thrilled with the result as he took his bow. Even with the shortcomings of the audio recording, clearly the work is among the very best of 2023 They really ought to invite me to these events!!!
Amazing performance
Wonderful writing and orchestrations.
10:08 amazing
Fantastic job 🎉
I honestly can't imagine how they could write that much music (even collaborating), having to do it for a franchise bursting with legacy musical styles etc., super picky fans like myself. To not only end up with a cohesive whole, but for it to be so freaking good? It has to be witchcraft. (also my excuse for why I am crying ....again....lol)
It's called fan service. Season 3 was purely the fan service that every TNG fan needed.
Standing on the shoulders of giants is how. I'm sure Stephen would agree.
where can I find this arrangement not live
A credit to your successors 🖖
Stephen conducts similar to jerry in some ways, they both tend to hold the baton more diagonally and make big gestures.
Rest in peace, Jerry
