I would never trade Duran. He is the heart of the redsox offense. If they do trade him the sox are going to have trouble scoring runs. It will cripple the offense. Abreu is a very good player but.....there is more swing and miss in his hitting than Duran. To hit for a higher average he is going to have to clean up the strike outs. He does have power but you gotta connect to hit those homers. He should win the gold glove for right field. I do like Abreu quite a bit. I would love to see us sign Burnes. A powerful ace is what is missing here indeed. Good video my friend. Take care Evan. Joe

Please listen to Cora from a few weeks back and it will tell you exactly how the org feels about Duran. “I think it’s very important for the Boston Red Sox that the leadoff guy plays every single day. Yeah, you always talk about it here: you have to post, right? Because when Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer and [Kyle] Teel and [Kristian] Campbell-they come here, and this is what we do.” In other interviews he has called Duran “a leader” and further cements his point by comparing what duran does makes the Red Sox offense goes like acuna does with the Braves.
Either way, the youth movement is exciting and I’m totally for it but if you actually want to win you have to have a few guys actually in their prime with some years under their belt to perform when the proverbial going gets tough. I think that really gets overlooked and is assumed that if you trade Duran for an ace problem solved we’ll win 95 games. Having an entire roster of under 25s makes it difficult to sustain win streaks and stop long losing streaks

Duran Abreu and Anthony is the outfield of the now and the future. Rafaela can start all around the diamond filling where needed, and can play 140 games doing so. Mayer second Rafaela short. Or switch them, but either way all 5 of these guys have to be the building blocks

Yoshida and O'Neill are expendable. Duran and Abreu are not.

I agree with all your points in the video. I hope they hold onto Abreu and Duran.
On Abreu, the guys in the booth mentioned more than once this season that Abreu is a faster runner than you'd think, so I think he's a better runner than you're giving him credit for.
Question on Mayer's name...You're pronouncing it as MY-AIR but I've always heard it pronounced MAY-ER by the guys on NESN and on other broadcasts and podcasts. I'm wondering if you may have heard it pronounced the way you say it elsewhere.

It's pronounced My-er. It's how he pronounces it, along with all of the announcers in milb

No sir. Look at Raffaela's defensive metrics: below average at SS & fantastic in CF. And no one is touching Story's contract so if healthy he's playing SS opening day. A Duran-Rafaela -Anthony OF should end being productive on both sides of the ball.

personally id trade yoshida for some bullpen help, especially since were losing a solid chunk of the pen for better or worst. Then resign O'Neil and make him the DH and then have Anthony, Duran and Abreu as our outfield. That lineup combined with Casas, Devers, Rafaela, Wong and Story would be lethal

Let's not talk about this.. because it's a waste of time. Duran is exactly what Cora wants.. to fit in his offensive approach! Obviously you haven't been following how Cora has tweaked the offense into an aggressive running roster.

Here's the plan: Roman Anthony in left, Duran in center, trade Devers to San Diego for Tatis Jr and he's your right fielder, move Story to 3rd, Rafael for shortstop, Casas 1st base and Wong is your catcher. We have plenty of 2nd base options. Sign Tyler O'Neil and he's your dh or Yoshida or go out and get a right handed bopper. Ideally if you can eliminate a few salaries we could go get 1 front line starter and a closer. DONE!!!!! Let the rest of the youth movement happen plus Giolito and we are pretty good 👍

I'd keep Duran and trade yoshida and Abreau. Only trade Duran if they can get a legit ace!
