How I Excercise My Doberman DAILY!

  • If you done any research on Dobermans you know that this breed need lots of exercise. Both physical and mental exercise. In this video I talk about ways I exercise my Doberman and what I recommend to people out there with high energy dogs as well.
    I highly recommend biking to anyone that is capable of doing so with the dog. It’s one of my favorite physical forms of exercise when it comes to getting the energy out of my Doberman. My rescue Kami doesn’t like biking as much but she’ll chase a ball for hours. Another way I exercise Cyber is by bringing him to the dog park. We love to do smell tracking, and occasionally we like to do agility on our bike rides. Basically what I’m trying to get at is every dog is different so don’t take everything I say in this video 100% on what you have to do to satisfy your dogs physical exercise needs. Every dog is different :)

    Cami has the sweetest personality. I sure see what we did wrong with our last Doberman. My husband did most of the walking because he would pull and throw out my back. However, my husband works long hours and couldn't always take him during the week and so our Dobie would run laps inside our house and in our backyard. He wore our lawn to dirt and it wasn't good on the carpet. He barked a lot too. I think he was frustrated. I couldn't slow him down no matter how hard I tried. Even walks are not enough. They have to run, like you demonstrate. At night when his energy slowed down, he was the best, most loving dog you could ever imagine. But every morning the energy starts anew. I miss my boy, and we gave him so much love, but we didn't do him justice by meeting his need to let loose and run. 😢

    There’s the old saying is, if you exercise your dog for an hour everyday then that’s the expectation. If you get the dog super fit and go for 2 hours a day then that becomes the norm and expectancy. I would say stick to a routine that is achievable consistently. 1h a day. To me going for a walk and a play is the by far best way to bond with your dog. I love it probably more than my dogs.

    ya, you dont need to run 30MPH to wear a Dobie out. On a typical Saturday, I take mine on an hour trek through the neighborhood, with a mix of walking/jogging/fast walking, and of course some running. We never hit 30MPH. not even close. but he rests for half the day afterwards.
    Having said that, you should find a safe FENCED in CONTAINED place a few times a week to let your dog run free as fast as he wants without a leash.

    I actually take my dog for a rollerblade every now and then and we go quite a ways. Stop every now and the for him to get a water break. Also I take him everyday to the field for an hour and use the ball thrower to wear him out and it works very well for me as you can see on one of my videos I have here on RUclips I have took in him on the bicycle and it's okay but I actually feel safer on the roller blades than a bicycle I do live in Florida so I do like to do this early in the morning or later in the afternoon since it's winter time here it doesn't get that hot maybe 70 but it's a blast to take him on a rollerblade sometimes he likes to pull me and I also have very good control over him believe it or not I'm going to make a video on my rollerblades and taking the dog out I just need to get a good camera that I can mount because I have to focus on skating and not holding a camera I do agree mental exercise is important that's why when I exercise him I also give him different commands at the same time so a little bit of training and exercising together is a good way and he seems to enjoy it

    I exercise my Euro-Dobie 6 month old puppy like that also, and he "pull's" also like yours making the leash tight enough to nearly choke him. So far he hasn't learned to stay close to me on a loose leash. Yesterday, a little yap dog jumped up in its parked car barking, startling my dog who nearly pulled me off the bike. Out in the wood's or desert I've taught him to run alongside my motorcycle on deserted dirt roads. off-leash.

    How long could a Doberman run everyday? I cycle atleast 15-20 kms a day. Can the Dobie keep up?

    • @derek554
      @derek554  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the comment. Here are my thoughts of your question. Dobermans are a breed of dog that are known for their athleticism and high energy levels. If you add proper training and conditioning, a healthy Doberman should be able to run several miles a day. Like a lot!
      Don’t forget, it's important to start slowly and gradually increase the distance and intensity of your dog's exercise routine. This will allow your Doberman's muscles and cardiovascular system to adapt and avoid injury. He wants to enjoy the activity, not view it as a chore you know?
      As for keeping up with your cycling, it will depend on the individual dog's fitness level and conditioning, as well as the speed at which you cycle. A healthy and well-conditioned Doberman should be able to keep up with a moderate pace of 15-20 km/h for short distances, but may have difficulty maintaining that speed for extended periods of time.
      It's important to pay close attention to your dog's body language and behavior during exercise to ensure they are not experiencing any discomfort or fatigue. Be sure to provide plenty of water and breaks as needed, and always consult with your veterinarian before starting a new exercise routine with your dog.
