My first time of watching your videos amazed me so much that I couldn't stop watching. Sorin you are the best! Your explanation about fixing laptops problems are always simply and very clear to understand. Thanks for your good work.
This is why Sorin is so good. He shows that most repair shops(colleagues) are no good. They make simple mistakes for which Sorin must fix. Great video.

Sorin, started watching your videos about a month ago, great learning tool. I have done a search but have not found where you did a video repair on a laptop that has backlight but no video. Just started repairing as a hobby after retiring. Love the learning and the challenge.
You are my hero Sir!Just like my customers, the machine won't go on, is it plugged in, do you have power in the outlet Enjoy the weekend and come back to this later, PLEASE,
A pleasure to watch your video as useual. Hope your back is better. Don't forget to do some physical activity every day. Even for some minutes only. Love from France
34:12 I will explain this situation for you. Leave the idea that right big coil can be for cpu turbo mode. No it can't be :) Think twice - you can have one, two, three or even 4 phases (rails) in laptop for cpu voltage - it depends of how cpu is powerful (2-4cores, turbo mode, etc), but AFTER all that coils (for cpu) they are merged together. So voltage is the same on all cpu coils. Because turbo mode is NOT activating unused regions (which has to be now supplied by another voltage) BUT it is only multiplier/speed clock increasing. What then is the reason for another or two more coils only for cpu? To relieve/ease (to help) transistor mosfets before coils. They can't handle huge amperage draw so they can be quickly damaged or voltage can become unstable. So engeneers provide two, three, four phases for cpu only and after that coils the voltage is the same (on all cpu coils) and always present. If you stop cpu voltage, then laptop will hangup. So in you case the small coil is for cpu, and second small coil is for chipset. Because as you know this is Intel hybrid bga (cpu+pch+gpu) so it needs at least three coils/voltages (but as I explained above cpu can have extra coil or coils). Ok, lets comeback to that big right coil. As you've said on the beginning -it is the voltage for gpu (vcore). Why it is 0.8V on start and then 0V in Windows with picture on screen? Ask Intel :) I know that it is very strange and abnormal but this is a very low power consumption Intel hybrid. So my theory is that - when gpu is not under the load, it takes voltage from cpu rail (especially when you are on battery only as you are on the video) but soon as you put any load on gpu it will needs more amps and it will switch to voltage from the own separated phase, so then the voltage on that coil will appear. It can be even 0.4V for small load, 0.8V for higher, etc. When you start the laptop power saving is not working so the gpu voltage is present, but soon as you go to Windows gpu don't need it. Just do some test. Run Furmark to maximum gpu stress load and you will see that voltage on that big right coil will stay between 0.8-1.1V. Stop that test and do another one but using prime95 for maximum stress cpu and you will see that vcore coil for gpu will stay at 0V (if you will not put any graphics load for gpu) And what with that left big coil? Well i don't know - it can be simply unused. It can be a part of phase rail for that not-present dedicated gpu (far on the left). I think sometimes it is easier for engineers to keep it on the board working instead of rebuilding all project to adapt everything for not present dedicated gpu. Maybe something needs working driver's outputs as a reference or KBC (super i/o chip) needs to have that working gpu driver present for powergood signal.
But if you're novice (as you've said) then please remember that, this is a rare situation (an exception). New approach in the newest low power consumption laptops. Because in all other cases, if there is no Intel hybrid bga chip which contains inside: cpu, chipset (pch) and gpu, then all voltages on all coils are always present during full on. Voltage can move from low to higher (depends of load) but there is always something above 0V. So that is way Sorin was surprised what is going on to see 0V on gpu coil with picture on the screen (because it is new idea) :)
So it is common that phase limiting starts quickly to lower consumption. Ryzen CPUs are known for doing that I am an over clocking enthusiasts and someone by the name of buildzoid has a channel called actuallyhardcoreoverclocking and a video showing him messing with phase controlling, power duty and switching frequency and what it does on a oscilloscope that was very very interesting. Just search buildzoid digi+ multimeter if you're interested
i think i have a little bit explanation for it now our technology is more advanced and batter then the past look on that point some we also miss single core voltage(0.8v) its whay for the battery is low and laptop is in power save mode and the bios is an advanced bios which only give the vcore supply when its seriously needed and after then for saving battery its cutt the supply and save the battery and obviously the other power supply gets active on turbo mode thanks.
I thank you for the great work.simple things can be looking worse. But you find it again 🤔twice. You are real deal with this problem and check it out in the next steps 19, 3.3, 5 1.1v same story as ever. Thank you 🙏
Great Video again Sorrin Sorrin need information about the battery charging section in laptop’s doe’s the 14V -9V from the charging IC output’s to coil and for the battery pins only if the battery in ? what if SIO detect there is no battery at that point SIO will not give the enable signal to charging IC?

If the CPU of Lenovo laptop is KaybeLake , there are three voltage around the CPU. Vcore , VCC_GT and VCC_SA , my mentor said that VCC_GT have zero is normal. I still dont know why when I check the schematic file.
The question is: why did they make the V-in 19V always on the lcd connector (LVDS)....what is the point of that.... why didn't they put the 19V trough a mosfet commanded by the ENE and to be there only after the startup when you actually try to push the on button of the laptop ....i mean why the 19V 'always on' the LVDS connector even when the laptop is in OFF state.... isn't that stupid? Daca puneau tensiunea de 19V printr-un mosfet (care sa se deschida doar dupa ce apesi pe butonul de pornire) inainte de conectorul pentru display nu era nevoie sa scoti bateria.
Sorin, one cuestion. If the power button is integrated on the keyboard, in this case ASUS...and you have short on pwrbtm, can you disassemble this keyboard? or fabricate a pwrbtm on 3.3v signal on the board? I have one case similar, and take the option 2 :( It's nice to see you. Greetings from Argentina.
@@laboratorioassembler I realize a jumper on motherboard and power on the laptop, works on for 1 hour 0 problem. So i canceled the keyboard on short or maybe the button itselft, get two wires and made a power button outside of the laptop! And i made this BECAUSE ANY posibilities to open this keyboard and repair a pwbtn!!! Asus gamer edition, 40 clinchs on keyboard reverse.
Are you talking about a multimeter reading or a sensor like hwinfo64 or MSI afterburner? If its software that means the motherboard company sucks at coding bios or something but if it disappears from a known source you make need driver or chipset update. If you are talking about multimeter how the hell is it functioning is what id like to know or youre reading from the wrong place....well you did say laptop so I assume its not open so yea try cpu-z or hwinfo64 maybe aida64 and remember vcore is not always labeled vcore for example hwinfo for me says core VID but that's not the real voltage, CPU section is labeled CPU core voltage which is real voltage getting to core but motherboard section is labeled vddcr CPU and is what the vrm gets before voltage drop. But software can never be trusted 100% some companies are very close, some are kinda close but miss the important parts and some boards will tell you very scary lies. Just keep that in mind
