So I tested out one of the new SL3 guitars last night. The fret work and setup out of the box was incredible, fast as f@ck neck is an understatement. It felt quality. I dont care for the HSS setup, would prefer HH with pickup rings not exposed cavities, looks very cheap. The reverse inlays are really cool and actual pearl. Still think Fender/Jackson is shortchanging consumers with a fairly bare bones soloist for a pretty hefty price tag. If they knocked $500+ USD off the msrp it would seem more reasonable.
Jackson and quality don't exactly go hand in hand these days if we are really being honest. Imports have tons of QC problems, and a majority of customers are buying imports because of the prices. I have limited experience with US models but I hope they're great. I'd love to get my hands on this model to try, but it's too pricey for me. I'm in the market for a guitar that's $1000-$1500 and here's what I'm looking for in order of importance: 1. non-glossy neck (classic Jackson headstock*) 2. stainless steel frets 3. locking tuners 4. hipshot or floyd are acceptable 5. HH combo with Fishman or SD pickups 6. a fucking case 7. ebony fretboard 8. clean body paint with no topwoods (could be S, V, or X shaped) With this list, which I'd bet is common, Jackson just fall behind Ibanez, LTD, and Schecter at this point; Charvel and Jackson are sort of twins. my Indonesian Dinky has the problem he was describing where the putty falls out of the very small slots after the wood dries out... it is not a nice feeling under the fingers

ffs this is a SOLAR guitar for the price of $2,000++. It has Floyd 1500 bridge, like what the effing flying f-ck the Floyd 1500 is what the Solar 1.6 series would have. It also doesn't have a hardshell case, and doesn't even have stainless steel frets? Like this is super rip-off.

@@mwbrada agreed. Also some artists like Jeff Loomis prefer a Floyd rose 1500 series over the original Floyd rose. I think this is going to be a solid guitar. I think they're aiming towards the ESP route with this series and future series
I hope they Do nice Vs with some sick finishes....
I can promise you this isnt a USA Made Jackson. The head stock says Corona, California, Doesnt say Made In, Price is cheaper and i know they left out a few specs from the higher priced line but something just feels funny. I am almost certain this entire guitar was not built from the ground up in USA.
they don't say "made in usa" and it makes you wonder if they're cutting the blanks in Mexico and doing final fit and assembly in the usa. a custom shop model will still say made in usa but these don't.
I can assure you they are currently made from the ground up in USA. I worked on this project. I developed the process.
@GuitarPlayerFromThe80s It was a big project for us when I was there and I'm happy to see it finally released. I'm happy and proud to have been a part of Jackson. I'm glad to answer questions. I can't reveal too much though ;) I'm also in the video...Yes! Everything except the parts, but that is normal for Jackson. Just trying to help clarify if people are confused!
@@adamehrig8167 Wow that is pretty impressive for the price. I am just curious what corners were cut to lower the price so drastically on these when compared to the USA line. Also, Do you know why is doesnt have Made in the USA on the headstock?
@@adamehrig8167 I think that since these guitars already have Gotoh locking tuners, you guys should equip these with Gotoh locking tremolos as well like the Made In Japan line. The Gotoh locking tremolo is so much higher quality than the Korean Floyd 1000 series and they should be pretty affordable too especially at high volume.
I think the greatest question here is how much are these things going for?
$2,500 / £2,200.
Blind fret slots it sounds like? That is a neat addition
my Indonesian Dinky has the problem he was describing where the putty falls out of the very small slots after the wood dries out... it is not a nice feeling under the fingers
My concern with this is when the fretboard shrinks due to a change in humidity, it may cause the frets to pop out if they aren't glued well. Trading one problem for another (maybe).
@@spoonerluv nope. Been using bound fretboards with the same process my whole life here in Tucson Arizona. One problem is not worse than the other and both take some minor skill to fix.
In 1992 I contacted Jackson I want them to build a guitar for me, never heard back from them. So I pi..ed and sh.t on them, phoned a luthier who built me the guitar I wanted, and a few more afterwards. I totally ignore corporations since then
Love Jackson and the Soloist is my top choice of model but i am not a fan of the Inverse inlays? Why Jackson?
I liked them the original way.Don't fix what is not broke. The lack of binding is a matter of opinion.
The Soloist looked more royal with it but the neck will feel faster without the binding. The price on these is good but they definitely cut corners compared to a OG soloist. Logo is no longer MOP, no binding, soft shell case.
That’s why it’s $1000 less than a standard American soloist.
Plz don't stop the white neck binding even in lower end guitars....I have a dxmg....love it it's not a soloist plays like a dream ...Caribbean player here
My old guitar It was all ruined and became my grandfather's emerald. In my country, I have to work hard all year to buy a guitar. I don't have enough money to buy a guitar. I love Jackson. I beg your pardon, can I give you a Jackson King V. guitar that doesn't work or has a defect, that is old, or that you can leave me one? I will continue to make albums. I would like to express my deepest gratitude. If you hurt me, I apologize to you. May God protect you, Amen🙏🏼💐
03:35 go fast
I don't understand why they are putting a single coil in the neck. At least put a Hot Rails in there. That single coil is going to be unusable with high gain.
Guitar look amazing but Scott tone was so harsh and bad. I Feel like hearing some vst without cab sim
His tone is always awful imo , like a teenager who got his first distortion pedal
What makes a Jackson is QC issues. My custom shop blew ass on quality of craftsmanship.
Nooooo really? That sucks. Can you get a refund
So the "one piece jackson neck thru" are not real neck thru ... they are "set thru" ...
Any plans on making a quality lefty model that isn't entry level crap or the blandest Super Strat ever? LTD offers more lefty James Hetfield models than you offer lefty models *period*.
bridge frets and notorious jackson qc and this should be 1999 bucks
2500$
Floyd rose 1500.
no hard case
no stainless steel frets.
no thanks.
any chance in hell we can get at least one lefty version in black
You mean Randy Rhoads Concorde headstock? That's the OG headstock
"its a body shape lots have copied" lol its copy of another design but ok there
Wow Alyssa!! So hot n so fukn awesome shredding...
Anyone else think the distortion from the EVH when Scott was playing sounded like shit?
add a color from your history DMR....Dark Metallic Red...
Bull crap Scotty Ian. Jackson gives you that stuff or gifts you. What's wrong with $30,000 worth of custom shop guitars I know you didn't pay for
Why isn't a original Floyd Rose used in a 3000$ guitar?
this and no HH option is frankly ludicrous, how do you put a FR1000 in a MIA guitar
it could've at least been a gotoh floyd
Seems like the only good reviews are coming from JAckson... I mean Fender
thought - active pickups stock on a guitar like this. eh eh? take my money.
They look like toys and they're way overpriced. If I felt like dropping that kind of money I would get one of the MiJ models.
No stainless steel frets? Really?!
No 24 frets was a childish sales gimmick then as is now
How is it childish? People who want 24 frets actually use all of them.
@@AdrianNWB ok it's n adult gmick
Okay, then how is it a “gimmick?” The guitar is mostly marketed towards players who typically use the entire fretboard. Even the guitarists who aren’t known for lead playing in this video (Scott Ian,Misha Mansoor) don’t seem to have a problem with the number of frets.
You cannot even send the existing orders, STOP making new things.....
Literally every guitar has side dot inlays
I just can afford the made in indonesia Jackson
Floyd Rose 1500 on a 2500$ guitar !?! Shame on you stingy bunch !
I love you Jackson but please stop sell us chinese and indonesian guitars for the price of high end korean or japanese guitars 🙄🙏
"it's a shape a lot of companies have copied"
that's rich considering you copped it from Fender anyways lmao
Not everyone wants a Floyd....
This is a shred/metal guitar. Caveman riffers have other options out there.
@@AdrianNWB ESP got plenty good ones.
ffs this is a SOLAR guitar for the price of $2,000++. It has Floyd 1500 bridge, like what the effing flying f-ck the Floyd 1500 is what the Solar 1.6 series would have. It also doesn't have a hardshell case, and doesn't even have stainless steel frets? Like this is super rip-off.
The sound I hear from this video is very bad imho
