    The only thing stopping me from ever getting a Jackson Soloist is the dam middle pick-up. I cant play any guitars with a pick-up in the middle, because my pick hits the pick-up. I have to modify my strum in order to play one. For me, that's too much of a compromise. It sucks because it limits my choice of guitars! I have the same problem with some Ibanez RG series. This is why I like Explorers and flying V's.

    • @jackcoleman1784
      @jackcoleman1784 Год назад +2

      This is just a commentary so you choose whether you thi k it's relevant or not but you might want to alter your picking regardless even if it's a serious pain in the ass. If you're hitting the pickup it sounds like you're digging too deep and grabbing too much string. I was always taught and have been of the method of thinking that you should grab just enough string to get the tone you want. The more you grab the more it limits your overall speed and attack recovery which is really important for a genre like thrash. Just a suggestion you do you.

    • @heyjarrod
      @heyjarrod Год назад

      @@jackcoleman1784 Huh? Especially with Thrash, you gotta attack those strings! And there are Soloists that are just like other Fat Strat’s, two hum bucker’s.
      But even if you’re playing some gnarly SRV on a Strat, with that middle pick-up, raised pretty high like the other two, you’re gonna catch a pick-up once in a while. Shoot you better hit it so hard you’re knocking the high E under the plastic top lip of a neck humbucker!!! That’s why Dime would put that black electrical tape on the side of the pick ups!!! Cool when I learned that trick-no more disappearing E string, ha ha.🤘🏻🎸🇺🇸
      I’m not sure how you play Thrash, sitting at home? Which is cool if you are just tinkering-for you. But if you are standing up hitting it hard, like the original commenter here, and like Scott Ian, you’re bound to hit that middle pick-up. Which, remember, might only have a millimeter or two of clearance between a string fretted at the 24th fret, and the top of a well-adjusted single coil. And even choking way up on a Jazz III, the tip will get under that string at least 2 mm.💯🤘🏻😝🎸🇺🇸
      Lastly, avoiding the middle pickup, without changing your picking style, will just come naturally after a short time.

    • @dusanmileusnic3034
      @dusanmileusnic3034 Год назад

      I totally understand you, because I have the same problem. I'm very sorry that that middle pickup bothers me, because it has a specific beautiful tone. On the other hand, such a set-up does not have the option of included bridge and neck position, which is also sad. I have a friend who installed an extra switch on his stratocaster to get the bridge and neck position on, and it sounds great. On the other hand, it is a musical instrument, and it is very ugly to spoil the originality. Today, there are many custom workshops that make instruments from scratch, and they can absolutely do everything to the customer's desire. Jackson guitars are absolutely iconic in the metal world and there is no doubt about that, the rest is just a matter of taste and individual needs.

I don’t see Anthrax being anywhere near the level of Metallica, Slayer or Megadeth. They have no hits and their total record sales are far, far less than any of those other three bands. I’ve never met anyone who’s favorite band is Anthrax. I’ve listened to all their albums and actually my favorite is one with John Bush on vocals, Sound of White Noise. I think it’s the only record they have that has well structured, rawer, hooky songs, instead of the usual Anthrax song that sounds like six different songs in one
