It starts with being so open while the other is closed off, to where the closed off finally starts to open up as the other is now immediately closed off.
I've watched this episode at least 10 times and yeah…this is the saddest miscommunication I've even seen. Because while it's framed to be more sympathic to Stolas, Blitzø is actually correct this was sprung on him. From Blitzø’s POV this has always been an unhealthy power dynamic with Stolas finding him amusing and using him for sex. Blitzø broke into Stolas’ home to steal the book. Stolas (granted was extremely drunk) flirted with Blitzø, Blitzø flirts back to distract Stolas to get the book and while he ended up staying the night out of guilt and pity he stole the book. Stolas has ability to track him down and take it back and Blitzø would be powerless to stop him so to keep his businesses afloat (which is rarely for Imps to have) he agrees to Stolas’ exchange of sex for access to the book. Even as Blitzø started developing feelings for Stolas he had a constant reminder (often by Stolas himself) that Blitzø is a lowy Imp and Stolas is demonic nobility. Almost all their interactions surround sex, when Stolas saved IMP, he asked for a reward and accepted Blitzø’e suggestion of sex. Their only meaningful interaction after Stolas got hurt (and started making his resolve to free Blitzø) was them trying to find Octavia….which still involved Stolas praising his preformance in bed. Stolas will be openly horny for Blitzø in front of random demons and his own daughter, but hid his face at Ozzy’s when said he traded a life with his daughter and wife for an Imp. So yeah, from Blitzø’s point of view he was blind sided by Stolas having feelings for him, because at every step Stolas has helped to reinforce that what's between them is sexual, at best it's friends with benefits. So the sarcastic shield sprung right up.
Ultimately this needed to happen. Blitzo and Stolas' deal was always exploitative and unhealthy on both ends. Blitzo is a self-destructive mess who pushes everyone away and demolishes his own relationships because of his insecurities and implusively lashing out, but the harshest part is that he really isn't even completely wrong. As we saw throughout season 1, Stolas was constantly only thinking and talking about sex with him and ignoring Blitzo when he showed he was uninterested or uncomfortable with the flirting and Stolas really was coercing him into their full moon deal when he didn't really have the option tk refuse at first as seen in the first episode. Their relationship was inherently unhealthy because of the severe imbalance of power and the fact that even though on some level Blitzo does like Stolas he was being made to feel trapped and unable to have his own boundaries because losing Stolas' favor would mean the destruction of his business and livelihood. Even if it wasn't what Stolas intended to do, it's still what happened because Stolas was overcompensating hard for having gone so long starved for affection and didn't realize how complicated the situation and feelings really were for Blitzo soon enough.
Worth to note is that day is already much worse for Stolas emotionally than usual. In the intro and you can see that he is out of his antidepressant pills. It's possible that maybe he would talk more instead of just instantly leaving after Blitz acting. Usually Stolas is more composed, possibly could stop Blitz action and say "I'm serious Blitz" but his depression probably kicked in a lot this time because not just Blitz behaviour but also because his medicaments been not affecting him today.
Also I didn’t notice the first time watching but I’m pretty sure stolas covered all his photos of him specifically, there’s a photo of him and his daughter when he’s walking away from blitz and you only see her and the side with stolas in the photo is covered,I think he really hates himself at this point and I feel bad for both bliz and stolas

5:45 i think this so wrong honestly. Blitzø does care, he’s so obviously freaking out about the meeting (look at his face when he says “we’re fine”, all the over the top shit he’s saying is overcompensation). Thing is he is so fully convinced Stolas only sees him as a sex toy that he won’t allow himself to be emotional and when he finds himself catching feelings he just shouts them down and tries to “keep it light “, because he assumes he’s not reprocicated and their relationship is just “transactional”. That’s why in the final scene he oversexualises the situation and himself in the first place so much. Witch is i agree, cringe, but also kinda painful to watch because he’s just objectifing himself. When he said “i’m not f-ing you good enough because i can always do better” it actually hurt me.
I haven't seen the full video yet so I might be wrong, but to me it felt like the comment was more about how Blitzø doesn't care that there are people around seeing his "oh yeah", he doesn't care how he comes off to people he doesn't know. I absolutely agree with the conclusion though, he absolutely cares about the situation and about Stolas
Stolas' feelings for Blitz were only obvious to the audience, not to Blitz. Stolas started the arrangement of exchanging sex for the book, he spoke down to Blitz for most of the first season, and showed Blitz he was embarrassed to be seen with him in public. He actually is suddenly springing his feelings on Blitz and expecting him to not have whiplash from the sudden change. In the song you can see that Stolas was building up the fantasy in his head that everything would work out like a fairy tale. Then when Blitz doesn't immediately believe him, he makes an assumption that Blitz doesn't return his feelings... instead of ya know.... giving him the courtesy of listening to what he has to say, not putting words in his mouth. Then he cuts off communication completely without letting Blitz finish. And he does it by using his magic, once again using his position of power to control Blitz, not treat him as an equal.
In Stolas' defense, when he heard Blitz's outburst, Stolas thought he heard all he needed to hear because he though he was hearing Blitz's true opinion on him, hence Stolas' last line in the episode.. Not only that, but the yelling probably reminded him of his time with Stella (also probably why he flinched when Blitz said b*tch).
@@C0astinG4mer That highlights exactly what he did wrong, actually. This is like a super commonly harped on concept in couple's therapy. NEVER assume you know what someone means instead of asking/listening. That is taking away their voice and replacing it with your own internally generated ideas. Inferring meaning - aka jumping to conclusions - is a big problem in clear communication. Also, I'm pretty tired of people seeing Stolas flinch and jumping to the conclusion that it's from Stella's abuse - as if it's not normal to flinch when people yell hurtful things. This is just a fan theory. It might fit, but once again that's inferring meaning without actually knowing. (unless vivziepop has said something. do let me know)
@@sybariticcupboardrat3763 I feel like a lot of Helluva Boss analysis relies on inference. that's just what I pieced together using the context given. Fan theories are what this show is built on. The ending of the episode can be interpreted a lot of different ways, nothing is set and stone. Even ignoring all of that, you're forgetting to look at the situation from Stolas' perspective. Blitz' distaste for Stolas may have been to him, but his absolute hatred was only known to the audience, not to Stolas. Stolas got a barrage of anger an insults from Blitz(none of the insults were technically wrong might I add) which Stolas had never heard from him before. He basically trapped the love of his life in a transactional sexual arrangement which is obviously terrible. Eventually, he realizes the error of his ways and decides to free Blitz from this deal forever, since Blitz was not happy from what he could tell. Once he gives Blitz the crystal and pours his heart art, he clowned and then gets a strong retaliation, even though he thought that’s what Blitz wanted most from what he could tell (a way out). Once he saw Blitz had no interest in staying, he wasn’t interested in communicating any further which turned out to be worse for him and Blitz. How was Stolas supposed to expect Blitz’ strong reaction to what he thought Blitz wanted or at the very least needed? He didn’t know Blitz had such a strong hatred for him, or that he was actually starting to enjoy is time with Stolas in the arrangement. Of course the audience has hindsight but you can’t expect Stolas to know the entire emotional state of Blitz, or the fact that he sees himself as unlovable(a can of worms I won’t get into right now)because he just doesn’t know. Stolas very much cares about Blitz, but his “shutdown” from Blitz, he just saw no point in beating (in his mind) a dead horse. Now looking from Blitz’ POV, he had always thought that he was just Stolas’ plaything and that he would eventually be thrown away. The crystal was conformation in Blitz’ mind that Stolas was just using him for pleasure, and got bored of him(hence the explosion of anger and hatred after Stolas said that was all he needed to hear). Both of them thought that they had been played like a fiddle. Stolas thought Blitz was only using him for the grimoire and got no pleasure whatsoever out of the arrangement. Blitz thought Stolas was only using him for sexual pleasure, and that Stolas would throw him out once he got bored of him. Let me state this right now, what I’m about to say is a THEORY based on INFERENCE from what I saw in the episode. I also believe that Stolas probably wouldn’t have shut Blitz down so fast and maybe talked things out if he was on his antidepressants(which he isn’t as shown near the start of the episode). It’s just fuel for thought as to why Stolas acted the way he did during the “fight”.

Hellborn demons doesn't need angelic weapons to be killed since they have no souls. The Sinners are the only ones that needs angelic weapons because they have souls and since they have been damned in Hell it's their eternal punishment so they can't be killed other than by an angelic weapon so they won't try to kill themselves to escape their punishment.
I can understand Bliz so much since am just like him. I had women hurt during my childhood by my sister and her friends raping me and her me and girls my age bullied and tormented me on my looks and rotund bodily autonomy. The constant grooming by teachers in my middle school made me realize that am just a piece of meat to people and no will love me in a romantic lighting. So now at 17 years old, I can't feel anything.

Hun that is a lot to carry, I hope you look into therapy.
@ALunarLight Therapy is expansive and most counselors I talk to barely give me any advice. The only thing keeping me from a noose around my neck is the naval boot camp.
