Is this area in Bangkok Dangerous!?

- Is Bangkok Dangerous? In today's travel vlog in Thailand, I take a look at what is commonly called a slum area in Bangkok. Many people think Bangkok has dangerous areas and these "slum" areas should be avoided. I personally love visiting these neighborhoods, because I find the people inside are always so kind and friendly. I am often surprised by people warning me that I should avoid these "dangerous areas" in Bangkok because I don't find them dangerous at all!

I love seeing this content! You capture the reality of living in Thailand behind the scenes. Good job Keis 👊🚗
Thank you so much bro!!
My bro x
Your vlogs are totally awesome Adam! Thanks for sharing this and keep up the wonderful work on RUclips🙏 It’s completely different from any others!
Thank you so much 😊😊
Great video mate. Believe it or not I met my girlfriend when she was living there . I was welcomed by the locals every time I visited and I'm still with my girlfriend 4 years later although we now live in Isaan . The old saying , dont judge a book by its cover is so true along there.
That’s a great story man, so good to hear!! I love Isan too! 😊
@Gary Farmerv- 4 years??? Put a ring on it mate!
Thank you brother I’m honoured fr 🙏🏾
Another great video, you definitely stand out compared to other thailand based channels. Your edits and content are spot on. I fucken love pad kapow gai btw.
I never been scared in bangkok.. and i been there few times... all people are shy at first but when you speak to them they open up and invite to sit down and drink beer..
Found you from the tag in Geofrey Peterson's video. Great content, new sub!
I really miss not seeing so many of your amazing videos.. Keep them coming
.
Such a good video man love the editing u did
Hey mate! Thanks for sharing these videos, you've inspired me to do the same. So, much so, I hope to take my own camera, and explore some of the many beautiful places Thailand has to offer. Can't wait until I land in a week's time!! All the best!
yessss.... seems like my week gets better when there a new video and as always this one is great as well. Just would like to know f you plan on doing a video of the more day to day stuff like laundry etc and really curious how the banking situation works with you making money off youtube and stuff and if that goes to another account and how you transfer it to Thailand and then the exchange process and stuff.
Best video ever!! I remember DAN THE MAN made the same area video 6 months ago and he said the same good things as you. 💖💕🥰
Yo I gotta know, is that an active line? I can’t help but wonder what it must be like for the residents if they live THAT CLOSE to a train. Perhaps it’s abandoned??
Also, great videos man. I love BKK. I’m in the states now but just got back from Pattaya and BKK. My gal lives there so I’m fortunate to get to meet a lot of incredibly gracious locals when I’m there. Keep ‘em comin !
it runs twice a day VERY slowly. Check Scott Mallon youtube, he did a 3 hour livestream walking thru the area and at one point steps aside to let a train go by.
121 days till I arrive in BKK. So much going on but watching a Keys vid. is just the thing I need to keep me motivated! Pencil in "dinner on Ed" for July 19th.
Yeah man!! Bet you are excited! No new vids?
@@keisone gonna send you an email...
Should do a video of the craziest things you have seen in thailand, loving the videos .
Great idea thank you
Looks like a blast. Just got home from Thailand a few weeks ago and tried to just wander around as much as I could. Such an interesting way of living, I find it so interesting. Met so many great people and everyone was always friendly smiling at me. On the last day in Bangkok, was staying near the airport and had to hit 711 one more time so I walked ab a mile down the road through a swampy area, water covering half the road. There were dogs all up and down, eating whatever they could find and a couple kids down the alleyway being bothered by some mean dogs. Kept walking and some guy yelled over to come hang out and have a beer, very surprised to see a white dude in that type of area and pointed to his daughters lol. A bit scary with the dogs, saw them attack a small dog but made it out all good. Love the street vendors over there too, they pop up out of nowhere. Can’t wait to go back, just hope that they can figure out more efficient ways to get rid of their garbage! sad to see their garbage filled ponds beside their houses. Beauty country though
love these adventure vids!
Yeaaaaah!! Cheers man 😊
This reminds me of the neighborhoods I frequented through on my daily walk to school as a kid in BKK. Despite the visible poor conditions, Thai people are generally friendly and have a relaxed life style. If you say hi ("sawasdee kab"), people will often greet you back.
Yeah the people there are amazing :)
I was just watching another one of your videos and you posted, perfect timing 🤣
Haha awesome cheers, I have been quiet lately, but I have a lot of videos coming 😊
I've lived in plenty of these little shantty neighborhoods. For me anyways I stopped taking photographs and videos because they never quite did Justice, but you did some justice today. It was the best experience of my life to meet and interact with these people. These neighborhoods are where the phrase Thai smile comes from
Great vlog Adam, thanks for sharing mate 🇦🇺
Cheers mate 😊
I guess if people want to explore these areas they have to have a low profile & a humble, open minded, friendly mentality like you do👍 I really like how respective is the way you are talking about these local people and how you are not trying to stereotype them depending upon the outside image of their way of living ..
Keep up the good work Keis cheers
Cheers man 😊
I been down the tracks twice this week and every time I keep seeing something new and interesting!
Awesome man, you shooting down there?
It's amazing the difference between going here and a favela in Rio! Seems really much safer here
Slums Philippines dirty
Love this content.
Is it like accepted squatting, or who is collecting rent in these areas. Awesome and inspiring videos. Only been to Bangkok once, but it was a blast and I'ld love to go back again.
Bit of both.. the land is not legally owned, but the physical houses on them are owned by people so they rent them out super cheap, or live there.. like high end squatting lol
@@keisone Okay cool! Thanks for the know & tell :) Sounds a lot better than many other places around the world. You surely meet some very cool people, lovely to see.
I did the walk you did, last year. The people are great. Friendly and always surprised to see a 'farang' in their community. No once did I feel intimidated.
Good vid Adam. Hope you & your family are all ok & not to water logged. Take care mate & we'll see you in the next vid. 🙂
Thanks mate, all doing well, the sun is finally out.. hope you are well 😊
You've discovered the HoodRich part of Bangkok. Nice cars parked outside of low income housing. But I like HoodRich. I want to check this place out on my next trip to bangkok
It's always easy to move from a privileged situation into the living space of simple and poor people. You shouldn't advertise such residential areas to tourists and leave people alone. Bangkok already has enough annoying tourists.
Not first and not last 😜
How are you mate? Raining stopped finaly 💪
Enjoy home Adam, love these slum vids buddy 👊
And as always, C Ya in the next one, cheers 🙌🍻
P.s. 2 weeks untill 🛫 C Ya next month of you will be there mate 🤞
Awesome man! I should be back in Bangkok in 3 weeks, gonna visit Philippines first 😊
Great videos
Love it!!
Cheers bud!
I enjoyed this video. I am enjoy your out partying videos too.
More of both coming soon 😊🥳
Going back and watching all of your videos, just wondering how the people that live in these types of communities get their mail?
I tried to go down one of these same sort of sio back in 2000 nearby the trade centre along the klong back towards pantip got about half way through and just shit myself all by myself too scared now I think l get the same rush from just the thought of meeting all these people thanks for the look
Good video Adam !
Thanks mate 😊
I think it would be a bit strange going to a place like that just because I don't know how I would react or how others would react to me. i will just have to bite the bullet one day and have a look around. We can see its like a club there and everyone looks out for others.
Great job on letting us see what Thailand behind the scenes looks like. Stay Safe mate. see you in Thailand soon.
Yeah man, it’s really worth doing.. I never felt intimidated at all, a smile goes a long way there 😊
I recently got back from a nine week stint in Bangkok and had a wonderful time just exploring random neighbourhoods and streets just like you did, I discovered some real hidden gems just by getting off at random MRT/BTS stations and wandering aimlessly. I am probably wrong but is this near Bang Sue station? My hotel was was just around the corner in Lat Prao.
Needs a little more of that hansom stylish guy mr orel oner in there tho watched all you videos .see you again fpr a leo my dude .. like your style content is fire
Hey dude,
My wife and i watch a lot of your videos, we are watching one right now. Just wondering, with the train track places you go to, how do they go when it rains? Like, they look all good when you are there.
I suspect a lot of the spirit of this community has got to do with their hopes and ambitions for which they are prepared to work . This is in stark contrast with poorer communities in the west living off welfare that are just infested with drugs and crime . No welfare in Thailand , and maybe this is a good thing ?
Nailed it. Just living their best life.
You Highlight the REAL 👍
Thank you, love every minute of it too!
getting lost in Bangkok is so much fun!!!!
Couldn't agree more!!
To be honest, I’d love to go and check out these areas, I’m just not sure if would feel comfortable to enter these communities by myself the first time around. But yeah, I’d love to go in and maybe even try to find some people that seriously need help. I understand what you were saying, not everyone is poor living in these communities, but I’m certain that there a some people that would appreciate a little help.
Yeah the first time walking in can definitely be confronting, especially in those maze laneways, you do feel kinda trapped within.. but thankfully I have only had really positive experiences in there 😊
nice one bro, question.. do the trains ever come through there?
Yeah I think a couple a day go through, mostly freight trains.. I have never seen them though
@@keisone ah ok, would be interesting to see.
Question, how do they get fresh water and what do they do with the wastewater? These houses do not look like as if attached to sewers etc.
Great question, I should have mentioned, there are some communal showers for those that don’t have water. There is also water refill machines that are 1 baht for 1.5 litres 😊
There was a great community in behind platinum mall, if you went through the alley between the 2 malls. would bring you out at the back of central world. Took my parents through there as a short cut when they came to visit. they were both scared.
Awesome great video great view Bangkok 👍 great show
Thanks mate 😊
I LIKED IT!
Great video
Thank you 😊
Your videos of the Thailand railroad villages are kinda cool. Do you stop to chat with everyone? It seems there are concrete sidewalks established where the houses are built up on. I think a lot of people can go there …. But it’s not for everyone.
Yeah it’s not for everyone, but it’s a great experience..
I do chat to a lot of people in there, but language barrier is often an issue. Everyone is friendly though 😊
Hey Keis, do you know when nightclubs will be open in Bangkok ?? Cheers ! 🍻
I have watched your videos on the rail tracks and I was wondering if the tracks are still used?
I believe those are the train tracks around the former popular railway station, Makkasan. Most older trains now find their way there, where they are parked and stored. Now all the new trains run out of Bang Sue Grand Station.
@@BrandenLesko thanks Branden
8:10 The cutest!!!!!
Love your video but as a Thai I hope you explain your subscriber too that those places are not a normal place for the tourists to go because it's a slum even the Thai people are generally nice but the normal Bangkok people rarely dare to go in those place too because it's disrespect them, and many of them do not want to let other people know that they live for free in slum there, nice people yes! ,but you have to realize normal Bangkok people they never go, and most of them not a real local they came from another provinces and sometimes there are a lot labors from the neighbors country too that's really dangerous even for a Thai according to the news, I just worry about the tourist my friend, but if they know what they are doing like you do and still want to go to have a look, I'll never worry about it.
Most normal Thai people live in a big soi that cars could go inside my friend like many shortcuts Soi you've been to or live in a single house or live in a villa house that never let other people go inside or beside the roads or live in condo or apartment or rent a house. But most place that you can walk down thorough their houses like that is a slum in Bangkok even most of the houses by a small river that many youtubers thought Thai people live like that but most of them are not the owner of the place my friend, they just come here and live.
Thank you very much for a good video. Very welcome to Bangkok my friend.
Not dangerous? You will learn the hard way. Sure Thais are always smiling. Question is what is behind the different smiles
All I know is: "If you stare at the abyss for too long, the abyss will look back at you". You are challenging the beast. Most times one gets away with all kinds of stuff until things happen out of the blue. I guess you have to serve up something to your audience. Good luck on your travels.
Are you an american sir?

How much is that Pat Kra Pao ( fried basil ) dish? It looks delicious and provides a lot of volume. I can last all day in one meal. 😯😲🤤😋😉👍🥘
I think it was around 60 baht.. I looooooove the street food here 😊

learned to speak Thai more wiil help you a lot
I’m working on it 😊
Curious what the level of English is with the people you meet there? I'm guessing not the best?
Yeah, generally it’s not amazing, but every now and then I meet people that can speak surprisingly well..
