Huge PITA, I think someone installed the last oil filter with an impact gun. Horrible placement by Polaris. Auto Zone offset filter wrench 1 7/8-4” did it but it was crazy hard to get off.
Its the absolute WORST place for an oil filter ever. Obviously intentionally designed that way to discourage people and make them have to go to the dealership. Why would they locate a part like that right next to the driveshaft and battery, literally within inches!?
HTF do you get the dam oil filter off?!? Total PITA!! Total design flaw by Polaris or it's deliberate. Either way i refuse to take to one of their dealerships for maintenance for anything.
It's amazing to see a manufacturer "how to video" on doing an oil change and the oil that comes out of the engine looks like it's 30% water. POLARIS!
It’s a T40 torx for drain plug.
Thank you! Polaris left that part out……
Just purchased a sportsman 450 and I do have to say unlike Harley Davidson it’s nice to see Polaris has videos so you can do everything yourself
Bro, Harley is one of the only manufacturers that still allow you to buy a shop manual.
NICE brown oil! Looks like mocha coffee
Other videos show draining the dry sump reservoir. Did they flip to wet sump in later models?
That oil looked so great 😂😂

That filter is near next to impossible to get off if you have big arms without taking the tire off. Even then it is a struggle.

Exactly just struggled with mine for hours today trying to get it off couldn't get it so I had to go buy a special oil filter wrench
@@andrewbryant1106 yup. Got a 20 degrees oil filter wrench and was able to get it off

Wade Luck you gotta get those oil filter pliers
What happens if it clicks after
How do you rest the rench icon?
Great video thanks!
Why in the world does this oil look like it has water in it???? Head Gasket failure?
Getting mud and water in it from stalling with exhaust tip submerged
Would it have been that difficult to use a hex head drain plug?! Geez.
It's an easy procedure. If you have the hands of an 8 year old girl.
Homeboy is using the wrong filter.
I stripped the oil drain threads... lmao
You should have filled the oil filter up. You're going to starve that motor of oil when you crank it. Just saying...
filter goes on horizontal.
@@ginaboos9563 Still need to soak it with oil...
If you ran the engine to warm the oil before draining, there is still plenty of residual oil in the system to protect those moving parts.
Never prefill filters
what torque socket size did y'all use.
Where i found the oil and what number
It's Polaris PS-4 oil, which is a full synthetic 5W-50 oil. It should be listed in your manual, if you have one.
That oil was milky
