"Create a score of La mer, this orchestral monument for 16 musicians?
Perhaps it then becomes a more intimate, even interior sea, as if it were a reflection of our storms, our great internal calms;
a condensed form, like a pebble of unique beauty picked up on the beach, contains the memory of all the successive waves that formed it.
I think of my maternal grandfather who, growing up on the banks of Lake Como, called it “il piccolo mare”!” A "little sea" which nevertheless still contains very beautiful waves...

Peut-être devient-elle alors une mer plus intimiste, voire intérieure, comme si elle se faisait le reflet de nos tempêtes, nos grandes accalmies internes;
un condensé, comme un galet à la beauté unique ramassé sur la plage contient la mémoire de toutes les vagues successives qui l'ont formé.
Je pense à mon grand-père maternel qui, ayant grandi sur les bords du lac de Como, l'appelait "il piccolo mare"!" Une "petite mer " qui cependant contient encore de bien belles vagues ...

je voudrais remercier ici Valerio Vicari de sa confiance, David Daubenfled pour la qualité de son travail de préparation dans une atmosphère très agréable et sa direction claire, précise, inspirante ainsi que chaque musicien de l'orchestre totalement investi dans leurs parties instrumentales solistes très délicates
"Thank you for this sublimated little sea for a small ensemble which is well worth its big sister in the hands of a symphonic. It reminds me of the version of Carmen written for a small troop of singers & a miniature orchestral ensemble by Marius Constant. Even sensation of fullness and expressive intensity despite the Lilliputian format adopted, everything in fact lies in the genius of the orchestration and in the art of saying the essential with little! I would like to thank Valerio Vicari for his trust, David Daubenfeld for the quality of his preparation work in a very pleasant atmosphere and his clear, precise, inspiring direction as well as each musician in the orchestra totally invested in their very delicate solo instrumental parts
