First model is great. I liked it more then a NAD D3045 I had and honestly rivaled my quad vena in a small office. The onboard dac is ok but always made my computer take forever to shut down, as soon as I used an external dac that stops. Great desk amp. Nice to see a MKII
You need to talk SMSL or Topping into making mono block amps with no volume knob and balance inputs. I'd love a Topping LA90 type mono block with no volume control. For the time being, I'm enjoying my Pre90 & LA90 combo.
@Tharbama Could you please compare the SMSL AO200MKii VS Topping PA5 II ? Your opinion on both from your perspective and which you would go for? In stacking with the little SU-1 DAC? I would really love you know your thoughts please. 🙏🏻 Thank you so much in advance.
great review! hope you are also able to review the A300 in the future for comparison. its a bit more barebones amp than can be mono configured and slight cheaper.
Thank you, A300/AL200/AO200Mkii all uses same MA3552MS chip and power supply but AO200 MKII balanced design is making it big difference, which alone is worth extra money in long term in my view, thanks
I think your sample is great. In the equipment list you have the Wiim Pro streamer listed. Did you use the analogue Wiim Pro outputs directly to the AO200 amp bypassing any external dac?
Was the streaming source your laptop into the matrix mini i4 into the ao200? Also, Laptop vs matrix mini for sq any difference or better visuals for vids? Love the reviews. btw. EDIT: I found your video comparing streamers and your breakdown mentioning laptop audiovana.
They are using two different Infineon Class D chips, later model is more refined in sound but if you’re happy with AO200 I would suggest you to stick with it, thanks
Are there any other differences in this mk2 version from the mk1 other than the different Infineon chip? The mk1 also has SDB, which according to some is the same as the change made from the tone controls. It does not change when the volume is adjusted. How do the mk1 and mk2 differ in sound? I have the mk1 version and I like the sound of it.
MKII sound is more refined, MKI was a bit brighter if I remember it correctly but I no longer have original one to compare it against each other, thanks
Hi Tharbamar Another enjoyable review. After watching your reviews, I am seriously considering buying this amp and pairing it with the Matrix Audio Mini I4 streaming DAC to power my Kef LS50's. Do you think the AO200 MKII would be good pairing with the LS50's?
Hi :) I need to drive a very big floorstanders which are 96db with a 4ohm impedance. They like a lot of current as each speaker has 7 drivers in total (3 way). Do you think that this ao200 mk 2 will do or maybe it would be a better choice to pick 2 a300 unit to work as much more powerful monoblocks (?). Besides power, are they sound quite similar? Thanks and hallo from Israel:)
Hi there, generally if a speaker is 4ohm/96db real sensitivity AO200 MKII should be able to drive to 105db loudness no problem in average rooms, personally I stayed away from any class D amplifiers without balanced input regardless of power rating but in mono settings A300 may have better power delivery because you’re using two. I don’t know about the noise levels because that will be the main difference between between Single ended and balanced amplifiers. Thanks
@@Tharbamar Thanks for your prompt reply. That's ok, im using single ended (rca). I wonder if sound quality is similar (a300/ao200 mk2). Never tried smsl products or actually a class d amplifier.
A10a itself is neutral but bit dry for my taste, I have to use R2R Pre Amp to make them sing. AO200 MKII is just about perfect as you can get out of the box for the price.
@@Tharbamar my mistake! I'd be curious to know if the SMSL VMV A1 or A2 would be that much better and worth it over this? Or similar by Topping or others under $1000.

@@mykeldg In a way yes and it helps in noise floor and power delivery, sound is more open as well.

I'd love to see a review of the TEAC AP-505 Stereo Power Amplifier

Great comparisons, well dexolained.

How to remove buzzing or hizzing sound?
This is how I fixed it.

Does this AO200 mk2 have auto on off feature whem they receive signal in the sound input?

Yes, it has more power and better highs
