This was a joy to watch, and super relaxing. Not only triggering all that nostalgia fondness, but a clear example of a master artist at work. Thanks for the video!
The way you painted the masks reminds me of the comics. They look fantastic! The minis look spectacular as well! I hope you do more Bionicle stuff in the future
One thing I would love to do, if I get my hands on a Kopaka again, is to paint over the details on him. Paint the pistons in leadbelcher, give his sword an icy glow, that kinda stuff.
I have the OG six and several other sets. My son and I have been rebuilding them as he’s caught the Lego but. Seeing our here have nostalgia is awesome. Very lovely work replicating them to perfection.
Oh man! I wish I had a 3D printer. I'd love to paint these guys. I still have my original Toa Mata in their tubs and would love to have a miniature version to display.
Try reaching out to the original creator (I left a link in the description) he might be willing to do a print run because he does sell other 3D printed things too
Awesome! I was a full on Bionicle NERD back in the day, just jumping head long into the media and toys, I couldn't get every toy, so i read every book and comic. Best stuff you could get! I'm still disappointed they dropped the original storyline and started all over again. My favorite sets were the Borok, with their head thrusting action and ability to become ball! The story was just so much fun, and i lwarned how to even write in Matoran, which was fun but could have been even better if I'd had friends to send secret messages to. Also, some of the best online games! I wish I took the time to finish the sequel with Hahli back then, got stuck trying to understand how to win those Kohli matches.
That’s awesome! I remember having so much fun piecing together the lore in early-internet times with the online game and the mini cd’s that came with the Toa. And yes, the Bohrok are awesome, and I recently painted up some mini versions in another video! Thank you for sharing your fun memories!
@@dcbandit yeah it is what it is haha. Just too sunken back into the sculpt that even if I got paint on them I don't think it would show in normal light anyway
Absolutely incredible video. I’m thinking about 3D printing a very large Tahu and painting him similarly to how you painted the Lewa and Kopaka masks. Awesome to hear your insight
I don't mean to be one of those guys. But I should point out something. Bionicle characters aren't truly robots. They are more akin to Cyborgs, but their mechanical parts aren't metal and are more akin to an Exoskeleton made of material similar to the Shell of a Crab. And yes they do have Organs and Muscles (if you ever see the old Bionicle Movies you'll notice purple texture on the characters...that's Muscle) Meaning it heals and mends. That aside these look incredible.
God I would absolutely LOVE a Bionicle cooperative miniature game similar to Gloomhaven.
Oh man, why did you have to put such an awesome concept in my head?!
Passion is healthy and very easy to share
Nice work dude, really took me back,
Also if you got a bunch of Bohrak you could do an age of fantasy quest batrep with them
Yeah I actually love that idea!

Super kind words! Thank you so much! Glad you liked the video!
So much detail, I grew up on Bionicle and this is so nostalgic for me.
Awesome! Glad you loved the video, it was fun to get that nostalgia going again too!
Thank you for the trip down memory lane. ❤
Haha happy to oblige!

Thank you so much! And yes I loved the art in those comics, that was definitely an influence! I am hoping to do more in the future.
They look spectacular!
Thank you!
These look absoluty fantastic!
Thank you so much! I’m really happy with the way they turned out
Loved seeing this! It would be really fun to do custom paint jobs, variations of the originals
Oh I love this idea!

Yeah that would be awesome! These were spare masks I had in the collection but I may pick up another Kopaka and do a full body custom!

Awesome! Yeah they are really fun to play with still! Hoping for a franchise reboot some day!
I really like our approach to lava. It seems really approachable, and the end result was nice. I gotta try that!
Thank you! And yes you should! Just keep layering on brighter colors and in smaller areas, it will look weird at first but stick to it!
These look amazing
Thank you so much! They were a really fun project
I stumble upon this stl files saturday night, now youtube recommends me the video, i al scared
Haha perfect timing I guess!
Awesome work dude! Was really amazing and awesome seeing you paint them, hopefully there are more to come like the rahkshi
Oh man that would be awesome! Maybe in a future video!
@MiniPaintMitch I'm looking forward to see how you would base them as their elements are so different

@MiniPaintMitch OK, I might do, but I have asked my D&D group who have printers.

@MiniPaintMitch cool! Ilk have to watch it! Btw, very faithful painting. Too bad about not being able to reach the eyes.

I’ve been looking forward to this one!
Haha yep! Glad you liked it!

I think that’s a fantastic idea! I say go for it! Right now I only have a small resin printer but I’m looking to upgrade soon.
Incredible!
Thank you!
Mitch! Dave Larsen here. You're very talented and clever. I'm really enjoying your videos. We should reconnect sometime.
Yeah dude! Recognized you! Let’s do it!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you so much! And yeah I’m diving back into Bionicle lore and loving it all over again!
@MiniPaintMitch Same grew up with it and here I am at 30 and still coming back to it to flex my imagination.
Not to mention the entire story took place inside a continent-sized sapient being, giving the story a real Osmosis Jones kinda vibe
Painting the toa nuva when
😆 Great idea! Maybe even a Bohrok?
@@MiniPaintMitch it would be amazing actually xD
