It’s great that you can bring a model builder’s sensibility to the very strict world of Lego MOC building. Your creativity is not at all limited by loyalty to brand, and that’s so awesome. The results speak for themselves. I’m amazed!
Really nice tips, I'm quite used to building scale models myself and over time I've been considering having a go at painting some of the windshields for my lego cars. A good example I think would be the new Nissan GTR R34 Skyline, which didn't have any printed A pillars which was a bit of a shame to me. I've also been thinking about doing the same for the Countach although that might be a bit tricky to do compared to the GTR, kinda cool to see someone do a video on this though!
Trying to complete a build and need to spray paint only a couple of pieces. Should red spray paint just do the job? Any particular options that you would recommend? Thanks
I have a question. So I'm working on a lego project. And just like your video I want to paint my pieces. It's a light tan and I need it to be a dark brown but the rest of the pieces I'm buying are white. So if im trying to get a uniform look do I paint the tan pieces white then color all together or do you think it would be ok to just do dark brown all across? Also love the video!!
I repaint my hot wheels sometimes, I want to paint my Lego Ferrari Daytona with a red metallic automotive paint. I think it’s gonna make it awesome to whole new level…
Using the tamiya paint i have been super impressed. Its held up super well and has never left the surface feeling "tacky". Honestly feels just like a molded piece if shot correctly. I also recommend to shoot color only with no primer.
im trying to build a brutaka but all the gold parts on bricklink where just way to expensive for me. so i got a lot of black and gray peices. i want to paint it a metalic light gold and really make him shine.
I agree. I feel like everyone's Lego collection starts to look the same after a while. The whole point of Lego used to be to make something unique using your imagination. Now with all the big license deals it feels like Lego has gotten away from that concept more and more.
I'm not into cars all that much, but this was a great video for what I want to do. I want to repaint the Rock Raiders Monster white. which, probably means I need to prime it with a gray, and THEN white. I'm not an expert at spray paints so any suggestions would be great.
@@marlinthemiata Thanks! I've used a Krylon primer+paint before on a model kit, and it worked out pretty decent. was not good doing it in direct sunlight in summer though... lol
@@marlinthemiata that’s what I thought. I just sprayed a piece up and definitely need to go gloss or even finish it with a gloss black and a clear finish.

You deserve more recognition man
Appreciate the compliment!
Holy 💩! I can't believe I just watched you SPRAY PAINT Lego😮. But seriously it came out great!

Thanks for the breakdown, im going to do this exact thing to my Lego 1967 Mustang 🔥

I personally use only Tamiya spray paints. It's specifically for plastic models, and I've had the best luck with that brand.
I'm srsly thinking of spray painting my lego tank, espeically when I can't find the color for my parts

Painting a dark color, you should be fine. If it was a light color you were spraying, I'd recommend all white bricks.
I’m gonna do this to make the purple rocket bunny 180sx, it was either this or fake lego..

Are the Legos included on rebrickable for the MOC's?
Parts lists are available for any models that are on rebrickable.com
Ok
How does the paint hold up over time? Does it feel weird or sticky when you touch it?

Lego is fun when starting doing DIYs. Buying stock things such as Lego, model kits without modification is just the same as everyone else…

Depending on the paint you use I'd just try to go with straight white and maybe use 2 coats. Ive had iffy results with primer.

Instead buying other part just use a metallic paint 😊 great idea gonna try this paints for my impreza
Wouldn’t you have to prime it in making a custom Lego technic figure?
Ive tried priming and the results were not as great as just shooting without. The primer made the paint too thick which caused issues
@@marlinthemiata good to know thanks
I want to tear down my car and spray all the individual bricks gold, but will it rub off from connecting bricks?
I haven't had an issue with the paint I've used
I need to know where did you get the Silvia
Question to match black Lego pieces would you use a Matt Black paint or gloss Black when changing to a different colour.
Thanks 😊
Id say a semi gloss would be the closest because black bricks aren't super glossy but they definitely have more sheen than flat

I'm thinking of spray painting a 69 Camaro Lego to match my dads, for a gift. His is red with 2 black stripes. You really dont recommend primer?
It didnt work very well for me. It made the paint thick and the results were subpar compared to the examples done without
@@beauvansickle1777 thanks, much appreciated.
Hello, where do I get the paint for my legos ? What is the brand name please.
I just use Tamiya model paint for mine
Which spray paint to use in Lego toys?
you should just try building model cars xD
I do, actually. lol. This was a fun way to combine the two hobbies
i remember doing this on a s13 that i did but it was kinda.. 🫤
You have to play around with the technique for sure. Best results have been with the Tamyia paint by far
