Quick story about Charlie, years ago a friend and I went fishing in a small pond off an old back road in Mount Juliet, saw a guy coming toward us, figured this was his land and would run us off, it was Charlie Daniels, he was very nice and hospitable and ask us " if the fish were bitin?" He said, let me run get my fishing pole and I'll join you, he did, it was a cool experience, but that was Charlie, just a down to earth dude. They brought Charlie Daniels through Mount Juliet to the funeral home Monday 07/06, the streets were lined with his neighbors and fans, he was the pride and heart of Mount Juliet, Tennessee and icon there, and had been for many years! Godspeed Charlie, not only your music is your legacy, but your testimony and faith!
Nice memory I never got to meet him but I always thought he was a true gentleman. RIP Charlie

Goodbye to one hell of a singer. So many of my wilder days was spent listening to CDB, you will always be remembered by this ole country boy.
My 1st CDB album was Fire on the Mountain and Trudy is his best song ever. I was 16 that was 44 yrs ago.
Saw him in concert---what a true AMERICAN he was!!!! Saw how much respect he got when the hearse came through his home town........here's a trivia pursuit for you.......saw him in an interview several years ago.....when he was starting out he was broke----Lynryd Skynrd loaned him 1,000.00 to help him out.......he was talking about how upset he was when the Free Bird went down........I hope they are all jamming in heaven.......R.I.P. to all of those lost!!!!!
Another Charlie story: got to see him performing at the Grainger County Tomato Festival 2016 or 2017. So I get there, crowd is huge & full of MAGA red hats except for me.. I was the only one wearing a Stetson cowboy hat... When he comes on stage he looks right at me and tipped his Stetson to this Lady!! Always say it must have been the cowboy hat! LOL love him!!

Played the downtown hoedown in Detroit for, I believe, over 30 years in a row. Definitely saw him every time I went! The highlight of the show most times!
I saw the Charlie Daniels Band live in concert at the Pensacola Civic Center, and that was back in 1980. Opening for them were Johnny Lee and Mickey Gilley. They were great, but I wanted them to hurry up and get off the stage so the CDB could do their show. I was in the company of several friends, and we were in country music heaven. Saw the CBD live two more times, in 1997 and in early 2000s. He was terrific!

I was fortunate enough to talk to Charlie Daniels backstage before a concert at Isleta Casino in Albuquerque (2003). He was a patriot and a Southern gentleman.

I was 16 when this song came out that was 45 yrs ago . It still makes me 10 ft tall and bulletproof lol. Lot of the kids now days don't appreciate good music.

Have seen Charlie and the CDB several times...My all time favorite was at the Mule Palace on Evaro hill...just north of Missoula Mt...we had our arms on the stage right in front of Charlie. He winked at me and flipped me his banjo pick!! Thank you Charlie...you are the best !! RIP sir !!
If I had to pick ONE CDB song to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be this one...followed closely by The Legend of Wooly Swamp, In America, and his tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Best show I ever saw was in memephis in about 82, outdoor,perfect may afternoon and they started with this one,later gary Rossington came out for assistance in devil went down to mgeorgia to close the show.
Man, I really REALLY love this song!!! I'm not particularly fond of the way they are doing it here... It's like he is rushing through it, and just talking.. it's almost like he isn't "singing" it. ... I'm sure a lot of it has to do with age.. I just have hard time accepting that one of my hero's has gotten old. Been listening to CDB for 35years!! Makes for AWESOME camping/shooting/drinking/bar hopping/boating/ATV'ing music.

A shame that charlie daniels is not in the rrhof yet. Hopefully they will wake up and realize he deserves to be there,. a great influence to a generation of rock musicians. One of the greatest sounding live bands ever. Deservedly he has a great exhibit in the cmhof.

Got to see him live when I was a young kid, my pop took me to a free show he was giving in Canada, blew me away. After that I got to see Willie Nelson when I was still young. Have loved these guys ever since..... today's "country music" is a bunch of crap.
