and a love story of friendship between an ex catholic grieving comedian and a practicing muslim painter decorator.
This is a comedy special. And it's a lil different. It's a body of work I am super proud of and think the world needs. It's my gift to you.
I love creating one woman shows that are of the moment, and deal with life at the time. They are honest, authentic, raw, ugly, beautiful, hilarious and hopefully make you laugh and cry. All the feels. That's my USP. I want you to feel everything.
Female creators have dominated 2023 in awesome ways. We have had Taylor, Beyonce, Greta, Margot, Emerald, all these incredible creators. I want to do the same but with comedy. Stand up is still a boys club, but there are soooo many women playing now. I am only able to create and record my work because of audiences support.
This is my lil piece of Art, and I think and hope you will love it. This is "God is a Woman'. Its about death and life, and loss and love and dogs.
Last year I pitched this show to a streamer, to several actually, and they all passed, but it was too late. I was in love. My pitch was awesome. Man alive what a girl can do with a PDF doc and some Canva tools. It's a numbers game and it's all based on algorithms and what gatekeepers think audiences will like. So at the end of Dec 2023, I made a promise to myself. Do it ANYWAY. Focus on what IS within my control. I came up with 3 goals.
1. Tour EUROPE with Stand Up in English - LOVED IT.
2. DEVELOP 2 new stage shows. BITTER (come hear all about it Spring tour 2024), and this show but a MUSICAL (oh you're not ready) & FILM and
3. produce my COMEDY SPECIAL. Just get it made. Even if its on your phone. GET IT ON CAMERA. So I did.
Fans of my work are legends and pre-ordered. I borrowed some cash and here it is. It's not perfect but it is SPECIAL. I have more shows to film and record and make. If you wanna support you can by the following...

Dear Luisa, as one of those seemingly rare middle-aged middle-class white dudes enjoying these videos, and not even a gay one at that, I feel the urge to tell you how grateful I am for your body of work. This here was the first I ever saw from you - being neither a native English speaker nor a long time stand up connoisseur - and following it up with "Am I Right Ladies?!" the very same day, the tragedy, the gut punch, all of it... it hit particularly hard. I guess it was supposed to do that. But at the same time, these were among the most endearing, intelligent, hilarious, inspiring, thought provoking and last but not least arousing mashups of pure joy and awesomeness I ever witnessed. Not everything is meant to arouse you, your hyperseggsuality is a trauma response...you should be able to enjoy a woman without getting aroused or mentioning that extremely off putting/h@rassing commentary.

I just went to your show in Sheffield. Before going to your show I didn't know who you were and now I am binge watching everything! You are so very talented! I was walking through Meadowhall with your "God is a woman" bag (because of course I had to buy it after seeing how amazing you were) and I made a man super angry! Score! How dare I think God should be a woman? I just want you to know that you are amazing! Thank you for your view of our world, it is very much needed.

I love that you raised this question in a comedic way but us women know exactly why we can’t raise the question in a serious manner. It’s ok because we know who the true God is….. which is absolutely “woman”.

So Good. This is so, so good (I've watched this before and I'm crying like I'm hearing this for the first time).
I remember many years ago watching Luisa's first standup show, I think on the BBC, and being completely gobsmacked with her representation of her life and comedic enjoyment. I watched her second standup and now her third standup special. Luis has improved with age, yet still retained that natural charm and way with words. I am a strong man who realises that a home is built on a woman and that they are way smarter and stronger than me. However, I am allowed to play the strong man and provide for my family, so life continues to be magical.
What a rollercoaster!! Thank you Luisa, watching this you made me chuckle, cry, laugh out loud, introspect and feel all the big feels. What a great show and what a gift to us all, thank you for posting. Big love to you and Bernie 🤩(her comic timing is almost as good as yours! 😉)

Strangely enough, although I purchased this on Vimeo, I've only just watched it now it's on RUclips (Context: I've got DVDs I've had for years that I haven't watched).
Having seen this show live twice (Stourbridge and Edinburgh Fringe) it's incredible how, although the core themes are the same, how much different material is in the 3 versions I've seen now.

Yesterday I decided to watch the Barbie movie on max, and I cried the entire movie. (It’s really good) about an hour later, I started my period. I’m an artist, I paint and do murals and in 2014 I was living in a really cool house that had a secret mold problem and I got really sick, my chief complaint being arthritis and fatigue. My career was going really well, I was doing an 80ft by 20ft mural, having solo art shows every few months, and live painting at events. I haven’t made art in a long time, and I’ve isolated myself from everyone. Lately I’ve been feeling this pull to start back up again. For a while I felt like I was a tragedy collector, like I couldn’t get away from it. I was living somewhere that I loved but a hedgefund mgr bought it and doubled my rent and evicted me literally while I was in the hospital with Covid. My best friend and I broke up, while I was still sick. I so completely understand the hopelessness and pain here. I also know how people felt… feel about my art. This special has come to me at a critical time. _What would Luisa Omielan do?_

I saw this show live and laughed so damned hard at it!... And then my mum was killed. I found myself coming back to this today and I am so glad I did. It has been a tiny 9 months since I lost my mum and I an just passed the alone, angry, get a dog, cry randomly, sleep all day and take long walks alone stage. And you reminded me to keep remembering the great love she threw at me all of the time in her own way. Thanks for reminding me Luisa. Funny how the same words at different times can hit so dramatically differently.

Ironically after seeing a typical Christian “copy and paste” rapture Facebook post, I made my own post about how fear mongering is not the answer to influence, inspire or the remedy to humanity’s issues, i mentioned verboten that we can experience Heaven & Hell on Earth. The rapture is, separation from spirit, from nature, from our bodies and emotions. Rupture and repair is integral to humane nature and the life journey. Rupture has occurred and we can begin repair. I love this comedy special so much, integrating my passion for knowledge, awareness and activism, with humor. Thank you so much.

I lost my dear mum in 2016. She had a fall and she ended up in A and E. it turns out the pain she had been complaining about for months was in fact stage 4 cancer and not fibromyalgia! By the time she ended up in hospital it was too late and six weeks later she was gone 😢 I have been following you since we saw you at the altitude festival in Austria. I loved this show I laughed and cried and it really resonated with me. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and making me feel less alone in how I feel. You are amazing ❤❤❤️

So many problems, so many pain, just because our culture and norms were shaped by this unloving, cruel, aloof male god narrative that power-greedy men made up to control the masses.
