I remember sleeping with the Ultimate warrior and macho man under my pillow my dad wouldn’t buy me the Elizabeth doll and I remember staying at my grandparents and grandma told me to look behind the sofa and there was a bag with loose figures of miss Elizabeth Bobby Heenan and some others good times
Isn't it funny how these toys bring back memories. At 41 I finally got my hands on the ring again and that thing is huge and heavy. My mom carried it everywhere for me. These toys helped us have a good childhood.
Great flashback. I had so many of these. I used to love watching Prime Time wrestling when Heenan and Monsoon would have the figures out on their desk for display.
I remember Christmas 1986 fondly. 2 months prior, I got started with the Remco AWA line. Then Christmas happened. Got the ring, Hogan, Piper, and Iron Sheik. After opening the 3 figures, I immediately stripped Hogan of the title and awarded it to Roddy Piper. Every New Years Eve when we would go to my aunt's, I had cards I would do for each set for the end of the year. Good times, great memories.
Haha, did you tape up your Orndorff too and have cast matches? If only they had done an Iron Mike Sharpe figure. Black electrical tape for the forearm brace!
I still remember that rubber smell these things gave off when they were freshly opened. With all the craze of “retro” releases, I’m surprised Mattel hasn’t reissued these. Their current releases of the old Hasbro line were very well received.
I was in attendance that fateful evening in Boston for my 11th birthday gift, and remember seeing the ringside cameraman showing off the foreign object Macho man used, to drill Tito between the eyes for the IC title, and I LOVED THESE ACTION FIGURES!!!
As a kid I had the first couple of line ups when they came out. I remember always noticing the photos on the back card didn't always match up to what was sold. The back card showed Piper with the Panther Shirt and the Sheik's pants were much more detailed. I also remember using a red magic marker to create blood on the wrestlers faces. I wonder if anyone else ever did that as a kid. Since the figures were rubber the red marks would just wipe right off. Those figures were so simple yet so much fun.
Fantastic review. Your recreations of all those classic moments especially the Terry Funk pildedriver attack were more entertaining than the current WWE product.
Yours are in great shape. While the figures couldn't be broken, the paint tended to peel off (Piper was especially bad) and they also tended to get scuff marks on them.
thank you so much. great memories as a kid this was one of my passions. Also, the part where you bring up Randy Savage winning the ICC belt. I was at that match in the old Boston Garden with my Dad. Dad goodnaturedly tolerated my love for wrestling, himself only getting a laugh out of it and the joy of making me happy. Dad is gone now so is Randy and the old Boston Garden, but the memories will live in my heart forever. thank you for this awesome trip to my childhood.
This was a great episode for the all time LJN Figures and my Favorite All time Figure Mr.Wonderful Paul Orndorff and the most watched Saturday Night Main Event split screen match blue steel cage
Yup definitely remember these. These were my go to toys as a kid. I had damn near all of them. Each one came with a poster. My room was a wallpaper of those posters.
Wow,this was a killer review bro,it took me back when I was a kid in the 80'S,watching and playing with my figures every Saturday morning, the Macho Man is my favorite, enjoy Wrestlemania tonight. #fistbump
Really enjoyed this! Thank you! So many memories. I got my first LJN on Christmas day 1985, it was the junkyard dog. I was 5, been hooked ever since. 2 thumbs up for your video! 👍👍
Got my first LJN figures in '85 too for Christmas. Hogan/Hillbilly Jim in a tag team box, Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff also along with the ring, one of my favorite and most memorable Christmas👍
Great review! After Transformers and Voltron these were my favorite toys as a kid. I actually remember sleeping with my Macho Man and Hart Foundation figures lol.
Lol - I don't know but I "used to be over." BTW, I also own Wrestling911 on RUclips. We should cross promote sometime. Message me at allstarboxoffice AT gmail. and I would be happy to give you a few ideas. I think I have 40,000 subscribers on there.
If you let us post this video on our channel, we would be happy to promote your channel in the description and elsewhere. I thin that could get you a few hundred subscribers.
I'm from Brantford, Ontario... Had this video playing in background, heard the name of the city and and to stop what I was doing, rewind a bit and make sure I heard it! LOL
Great memories. I’ve been watching some old WWE matches and it’s insane how much more into it the crowds were. Fans were still marks. No body cheered heels, no signs, and trash would fly into the ring when the heel was on top. It was weird to see cops at shows to, like it was possible fans would try to get at the heels.
After Wrestlemania 4, I constantly had tournaments with my figures. I'd write their names on pieces of paper, then put them in a bowl and create brackets. Hours of fun!
Thank you so much for making this video. Every time someone talks about these figures they always say that they were terrible. That was not my experience. I loved collecting and playing with them. My friends and I always made tournaments. They were great.
Great great video. I was hoping to find a video of these figures and your video perfectly hit the spot. I still have some of those figure and I will always remember getting the Ultimate Warrior for Christmas
I suspect they had plans to release a Demolition Smash figure too, but the mold was based on the original Smash (briefly portrayed by Moondog Rex and not Barry Darsow), so the figure was scrapped when Darsow was brought in as a replacement.
Could be. Or they wanted to release 1/2 of 3 tag teams in '89 and were going to release the other half the following year if the line had continued (Ax from Demolition, Haku from Islanders and Warlord from Powers of Pain).
Man this video was awesome. I grew up with the hasbros but once picked up a Paul Ordorf on a car boot (like a swap meet) & discovered the LJN line. No idea they did so many. Love the Savage & Warrior 1. Grrat vid sir.
Very enjoyable video. I'll never forget getting my first LJN. In second grade I had just started watching WWF and knew a few of the characters. A kid at school brought a JYD figure and I was immediately envious. I offered him the only currency I had back then, toads. Yup, toads that hop and eat bugs. I brought him a toad in my backpack and traded him for JYD. After that, I found additional figures under the Christmas tree or on birthdays and eventually had quite the line-up along with the ring as well. Along with my GI Joe figures, I spent a lot of time playing with these figures. Amazing toys and as you mentioned, nearly indestructible!
When I was 5 or 6 in 1987 I had to get tubes put in my ears, when I woke up after the procedure, my mom had a present for me, I opened the bag to reveal a Kamala wrestling guy, it was awesome, the best gift ever... great video bro !
HI Mr.Mercy, I must say your videos brightens up my day, everything from your awesome little tricks, to amazing editing to really great narrating!! Big fan of old toys myself and wrestling and 80`s Movies and Tv shows so stumbling over your channel has been a mind blowing experience. Still have a few left until I have checked them all out!. This is my favourite video so far, I still have memories of watching the "-Bring home all the action" Commercial from WWF LJN and dreaming that one day that would be me or at least one day seeing them live in person!! And now in 2018 I and many more get to see them live in Oslo, Norway, for the first time ever, how crazy is that? I`m also a big fan of Thundercats, Transformers, He-man, GI Joe, ALF, Muppets and so much more Your channel covers. I have filled up my work office with some of my old toys and the colors alone makes me smile. Can`t wait to see what you come up With NEXT!! Also stay strong and work will come Your way, until then I will be watching everything you put up on this channel!!Take care,Rainer from Norway!!
I bought the book based on that Wrestlemania cage match at a Book Fair in elementary school, and I only ever had one of those figures, specifically Jesse Ventura, and, of course, didn't have the ring. That was the reason I was so excited to be babysat by this one particular woman whose son had several of the figures and the ring.
"The man from the Double Cross Ranch, In Amarillo, Texas. Terry Funk!" Funk is one of my all time favorite wrestlers. Doesn't hurt that he's from my home town.
"You good to me and I'll make sure he's good to you" "I think that your time is done. And I think that the spotlight should go on top of me. Yeah!" Freaking classic!!! Missed the 80's and that era of wrestling. The best times EVER!!!
Mr. Mercy, I have to tell you, that this is, without a doubt, the best video that I've ever seen based on the LJN WWF figures! You managed to accurately summarize so much about the collection, including the entire run of the series, in under 20 minutes. That is very, very impressive. I'm a child of the eighties and these are my favorite action (or inaction) figures of all time. In my childhood, I was fortunate to own and play with so many great and legendary toy lines. I owned the Kenner Star Wars, G I Joe, Transformers, Secret Wars, Super Powers, Mask, MOTU, various Mego figures, etc, but nothing comes close to my LJN WWF figures... except the Remco AWA figures. Also love the"Something to Wrestle With" nod with the Brutus "The F@#$&\%g Barber" Beefcake line! Love your channel, brutha. Keep doin' what you're doin'. Happy Wrestlemania Sunday!! Ever forward, Michael Mercy!!
Very cool and fun video. I had a bunch of the rubber figures as a young kid, another kid coloured on them- I got rid of them. As a teen I had a bunch of the figures similar to what you see today, including the ring and collapsible weapons- outgrew them, gave them away. Started collecting boxed figures in 2014. I have about 30 basics and 12 elites, including The Warlord!
Fantastic trip down memory lane! I'm a bit disappointed that you never mentioned the iconic "Bring Home All the Action" tune that played during the commercial, but you redeemed yourself with "Unequivocally!" from Jack Tunney. 😂
Dude, I don't know how your video popped up in my recommendations, but I'm thrilled that it did. This REALLY bought me back. I'm a nostalgia guy, so much where I just finished writing my first book - where I go in depth on these very same toys - in one of my chapters lol. How in the hell did you keep them in such pristine condition?! I still own my collection and the wear/tear is very visible. Just threw the ring away a few years ago too (although I still have the cage). Nice job👍
Great video! Always wondered why LJN didn’t make a Mr. T. figure. Although I had the B.A. figure, which was pretty much to scale. 😉 A lot of the later lines never came to the toy stores in and around my small New England town. I’d have loved to get Jake “The Snake”, Bam Bam Bigelow and the One Man Gang!
Dude, u made my ass laugh so hard when you recreated the wrestling matches with your wrestling figures and you had to slam your hand three times in the middle of the Ring kids nowadays do not have much imagination to play with toys as we used to in the 80s we need to have an imagination to recreate matches with our toys or in my case I used to have GI Joes wrestle with silverhawks action figures cuz my parents couldn't afford wrestling action figures back then I definitely enjoyed your videos keep doing what you're doing this was awesome thanks for the memory
I started watching wrestling in the late 80s but the toy shop near my house had the original first four series on clearance. I collected almost all originals. They came with a little poster.
Great video Michael! I remember those figures very fondly. And while I dont currently have any in my collection, I do have a few of the newer Elite versions of characters like Macho, Warrior and the Hart Foundation. And your videos with their use of the clips from those days are the best in my opinion for drawing a link between the figures and the source material. Keep it up brother! Dig it!

You're Great for this video man. You brought me back nostalgia.
This was a great video! I gotta point out though, @4:35 instead of "solid steel" you definitely said "salad steel" and that gave me a damn good chuckle.
These are cool, but I was lucky enough to be a kid in the sixties, with the awesome 12" GI Joe figures, with the articulated shoulders and hips.... un-matched!
I always consider the 1st "Series" the 1st FIVE advertised in 1984: Hogan/Snuka/Studd/Andre/Sheik. More where added, however those five where the 1st advertised for sale. I remember seeing the add at the time and wondering "Why no Piper?"
I used to love playing with these figures. As I got older , I would play football with them . Set up the figures as two different teams and play good guys vs. bad guys. Lol. My mom still has all of them in her attic , she pulled them out one night I was there for my nephew to play with them . It was pretty awesome seeing them again .
Love this line of toys. Never had the ring, but I was always using floor, couches and other furniture to have them wrestle on. Another lesser known "wrestling" toy favorite of mine was M.U.S.C.L.E.
Those were my world from 1986 until the Hasbro figures came out in the late 80s or early 90s. I had about 40 of the LJN rubber figures and about 50 of the Hasrbo ones with a few of the WCW figures that were about the same size. I remember going to Towers to look at toys and every LJN tag team set had the two belts missing because some kid had cut into the plastic and taken them. To be honest, that's what I was going to do, dammit!
Your grandparents were awesome
Ha! My great-grandpa was responsible for my WWF LJN collection as a kid.
Isn't it funny how these toys bring back memories. At 41 I finally got my hands on the ring again and that thing is huge and heavy. My mom carried it everywhere for me. These toys helped us have a good childhood.
@@steven1811I agree wholeheartedly!
@@orinanime yes they were the best gone now sadly but still missed
The old WWF logo, promo clips, and LJN figures? I’m living for it!
Phenomenal videos man. Im 41 and your videos are my childhood preserved. Truly great production on your vids!
me too. I remember my Hogan figure vividly
Great flashback. I had so many of these. I used to love watching Prime Time wrestling when Heenan and Monsoon would have the figures out on their desk for display.
Thanks! Wish they would have made a Monsoon figure. My Brain figure needs someone to tell him "Will you stop?!" :D
Dude, this is phenomenal. I grinned like a kid throughout the whole thing.
Yes 1986 was great. I had 19 ljns with ring n i had 25 remco AWA figures with original ring n cage Ring
I never realized, these head sculpts are very good , and being 1985/86 at that.
I put white tape around my Bob orton figure, and had it on so long i couldn't get it off later on, long live the cast!
Haha, did you tape up your Orndorff too and have cast matches? If only they had done an Iron Mike Sharpe figure. Black electrical tape for the forearm brace!
That arm always seemed broken for some reason.
it took years to heal; so best to keep the cast on.
The cast shoulda been on there anyways lol
Plumbing tape worked awesome for a cast
I still remember that rubber smell these things gave off when they were freshly opened. With all the craze of “retro” releases, I’m surprised Mattel hasn’t reissued these. Their current releases of the old Hasbro line were very well received.
Matt Weber I know the smell. I associate that smell with Kmart lol
Matt Weber, I loved that smell so much!! I tried explaining this to my wife, and she gave me the most bewildered look ever.
Man, I still have the Hulkster 84 figure!!!! Thank you 4 the good memories sir. Great video.
I was in attendance that fateful evening in Boston for my 11th birthday gift, and remember seeing the ringside cameraman showing off the foreign object Macho man used, to drill Tito between the eyes for the IC title, and I LOVED THESE ACTION FIGURES!!!
I just got my LJN Hulk Hogan in the mail today! I love it!!
Remember the Thumb Wrestlers!! Love those too and still have some of those as well.
I have the stud version
i loved those. more mobile and user friendly. i ruled mrs. jude's classroom
Thumb wrestlers were much better and playable than the 8"s
I love the "Something to Wrestle" comments! Great video.
Well...yew know... :D
As a kid I had the first couple of line ups when they came out. I remember always noticing the photos on the back card didn't always match up to what was sold. I used ketchup!

Fantastic review.
Your recreations of all those classic moments especially the Terry Funk pildedriver attack were more entertaining than the current WWE product.
Thanks! Yeah that was fun. The Funker's owed the Hulkster that one for a long time! :D
I sold my collection of LJN figures a couple months back. Really enjoyed them for years. Iconic toys!!
Yours are in great shape. While the figures couldn't be broken, the paint tended to peel off (Piper was especially bad) and they also tended to get scuff marks on them.
I always used to love how Orndorf could do a perfect piledriver on Hogan. lol
I loved this way more than I should've. I had a good handful of these growing up and this really took me back. This was very well done. Thank you.
The Freddie Blassie and Mr. Fugi likenesses were spot on!
thank you so much. great memories as a kid this was one of my passions. Also, the part where you bring up Randy Savage winning the ICC belt. I was at that match in the old Boston Garden with my Dad. This was a great episode for the all time LJN Figures and my Favorite All time Figure Mr.Wonderful Paul Orndorff and the most watched Saturday Night Main Event split screen match blue steel cage
I like your "playing" with the toys scenes. It's unique, and has a nostalgic charm to it.
Love the "something to wrestle" catch phrases.
Roll tide! :D

I enjoyed your Something to Wrestle references and the amount of figures you had. I have a box of them hidden away.

This was a great video! I gotta point out though, @4:35 instead of "solid steel" you definitely said "salad steel" and that gave me a damn good chuckle.
These are cool, but I was lucky enough to be a kid in the sixties, with the awesome 12" GI Joe figures, with the articulated shoulders and hips.... un-matched!
Your video was truly amazing in ever way. Classic memories to last a lifetime all told with vivid detail in a very special way. Thank you 👍💯🙏
Thank you for this. It takes me back to my childhood.
I always consider the 1st "Series" the 1st FIVE advertised in 1984: Hogan/Snuka/Studd/Andre/Sheik. More where added, however those five where the 1st advertised for sale.
I remember seeing the add at the time and wondering "Why no Piper?"
OMG!!!! I had most of these in grade school. I loved them!
LOLOLOLOLOL B Brian Blair "Humble" I love this!
Awesome video. I have 3/4 of these figures. Miss these days.
Orndorff, Bundy, Macho man and Volkoff were my favorite figures
Awesome work. Great memories! Had quite a few of these. The ring was awesome. Loved the little posters that came with it
I used to love playing with these figures. As I got older , I would play football with them . Set up the figures as two different teams and play good guys vs. bad guys. Lol. My mom still has all of them in her attic , she pulled them out one night I was there for my nephew to play with them . It was pretty awesome seeing them again .
Amazing review! I'm gonna be spending a few days catching-up on your vintage toy reviews - they're awesome!
Just incredible the collection you have, I used to have handfuls of the Attitude Era! Multiples! Even some WCW thrown in there :) good times
This is GOLD!!!! Thanks for this awesome video. Great work :)
Thank you! 🙏
Love this line of toys. Never had the ring, but I was always using floor, couches and other furniture to have them wrestle on. Another lesser known "wrestling" toy favorite of mine was M.U.S.C.L.E.
You have no idea how much I enjoyed this!!!
Ugh. So cool as a kid back then. ❤🤘 GREAT collection!!!
