It’s been quite a few years since I saw them live. The last time was at a very small venue. It was a basement bar under a restaurant in St. Louis. That might it snowed several inches and the sold out show only had about 30 people show up. My wife and I were a part of something great that night. Despite the low turn out they played for hours and sat around with us at tables and played and included us all. It was a night I will never forget.
I last saw them at their anniversary show in Dallas like 5 years ago, SUCH a freaking blast. Happiest vibes on the planet were in that room. And most of us were blazed lmao.
When I first saw these guys it was on scrubs, and I thought it was a joke band, I was cracking up. Then I googled them and found out that this was actually a group.
Empty headed happiness. Mindless. Nothing of any real substance. They reformed. And called themselves The "Heaven's Gate" and all met behind comet Hale-Bopp.
First time i saw them live was at the Queen Margaret Union in Glasgow (2003). It was like a epiphany, the whole gig was mindblowing, from them walking into the hall hand in hand through the crowd right through to the end, it felt like the most beautiful sermon. It was such a feel good gig and definitely ranks high on my list of favourite gigs. The second time i saw them was at the Connect Festival in Inveraray (2007), a very different ambience to the first gig, but equally as incredible. They really do put on a fantastic show.
It's OK. Just remember the joy and the spring it put in your step. Put this on your sound system. Pick up your partner/child. Say nothing. And just dance! Like crazy. Laugh out loud. Or cry. With joy.
This song reminds me of living in Halifax, Canada next to the water. I was going out with a girl I had a crush on. Life was good at the time. Happy, fun, youth... Having money. Drinking tea. Little lights everywhere. Watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Now that girl is married and getting old fast. Those times are a distant memory now.
For years I thought this song was called Mr. Brightside, then I realized it wasn't and spent several more years trying to remember what this was called. ...But then!!! I was looking up videos of Brad Mehldau and came across him and Elliott Smith (one of my favs) on The Jon Brion Show....and they played a song I hadn't heard before called Trouble ...so of course I went to my add the song to my favorites and realized it was on an album featuring Elliott and written by The Polyphonic Spree and immediately I recognized the name and knew I could find the song I was looking for! Popped back over to RUclips and here it is! Thanks ❤❤

parents had a eternal sunshine soundtrack cd which this was on and would listen to it all the time during roadtrips. For the longest time actually thought this was by ELO, just glad to have rediscovered it.
This tune makes me think of the people i love that are no longer with us. Ma, friends, you know who you are... Miss you all, that i just found are that aren't with us any longer
Back in 1993 when I was hanging out with Tim Delaughter at Trees in Dallas, Tx watching a band called Maggie's Dream, I would've never thought that everything this guy would touch would turn to gold.
