Progression only seemed to happen to a certain type of person; someone who it mattered not in ability or work ethic, but in going along with managerial bias and agenda! The distinction between an authoritarian and a tyrant is very important. A leader can wield the reigns of power with an iron fist and not be a tyrant, whereas an anarchist society where literally no one holds the reigns of power can and usually IS the most tyrannical state imaginable. Anyone ever seen the movie Equilibrium from the early 00s? I saw it at the time and enjoyed it as a fun martial arts sci-fi movie (FYI it was the movie that invented Gun-Fu, or Gun-kata as it was called back then) but didn't think anything of it beyond that. I re-watched it recently and fuqq me - if that movie wasn't predicting the future! The tyrannical, Orwellian regime in that movie literally identifies as "Anti-Fascist," they have giant screens all over the city showing videos of HitIer and the HaII-oh-cost to remind the population "this is why we do what we do, so we don't end up like that" - blissfully unaware that their attempts to avoid becoming like the Yazis is exactly what has caused them to become like them. The society in that movie is so obsessed with not becoming Fascist that they're totally unaware that the society they have created is equally horrible to Fascism, just in another flavor. The screens also play endless videos of the society's founder, "Father," played by Sean Pertwee, giving history lessons (propaganda). There's a bit in the movie where he's listing all the brilliant, wonderful things their society has created in the pursuit of preventing harm, and the last thing he lists as the best, most important thing, is "the concept of the hate crime." That movie not only holds up, it's eerily prescient to what we're going through right now. It was also pretty radical in depicting an Authoritarian tyranny that positions itself as _Anti_ Fascist rather than Fascist, which is what movies usually do.
So hopefully we get a benevolent dictator who fixes things and then handsets power back to the people. The system work's for a while and then has to be reset

I don't understand Carl's slavish devotion to strict time constraints, cutting off guests and rushing fellow hosts on LE.
A main advantage of conducting an independent podcast format is that discussions don't have to be artificially truncated into neat broadcast timeslots between commercial breaks.
I find the repeat interruptions during segments to be distracting.
I mean youtube recommendation algorithms do have something to do with the length of the average video on a channel, like if most of your videos are 10-20 mibutes and then you make a 2 hour video it will make it to less of your fanbase
Also the censoring I found incredibly lame and unnecessary. I watch these segments because its supposed to not be censored or filtered.

The wealthiest Jewish banker in the world at that time, Jacob Schiff of Kuhn, Loeb investment bank of New York City, gave Trotsky and Lenin $20 million to overthrow the Czar and establish the Soviet tyranny.

Anyone ever seen the movie Equilibrium from the early 00s? I saw it at the time and enjoyed it as a fun martial arts sci-fi movie (FYI it was the movie that invented Gun-Fu, or Gun-kata as it was called back then) but didn't think anything of it beyond that.
I re-watched it recently and fuqq me - if that movie wasn't predicting the future! The tyrannical, Orwellian regime in that movie literally identifies as "Anti-Fascist," they have giant screens all over the city showing videos of HitIer and the HaII-oh-cost to remind the population "this is why we do what we do, so we don't end up like that" - blissfully unaware that their attempts to avoid becoming like the Yazis is exactly what has caused them to become like them.
The society in that movie is so obsessed with not becoming Fascist that they're totally unaware that the society they have created is equally horrible to Fascism, just in another flavor.
The screens also play endless videos of the society's founder, "Father," played by Sean Pertwee, giving history lessons (propaganda). There's a bit in the movie where he's listing all the brilliant, wonderful things their society has created in the pursuit of preventing harm, and the last thing he lists as the best, most important thing, is "the concept of the hate crime."
That movie not only holds up, it's eerily prescient to what we're going through right now. It was also pretty radical in depicting an Authoritarian tyranny that positions itself as _Anti_ Fascist rather than Fascist, which is what movies usually do.
Absolutely agree, when I watched it, it was " futuristic " entertainment, now it appears to be a terrifying near future reality.
