- A little real life peek into the highs and lows of this (kinda crazy) life. Later tonight we are doing a proper shopping haul, but I'm buying a few things so we have the food we need for lunch and dinner before we go shopping. Marc is searching for a job so our income can be more stable. He made an attempt at freelancing but it's so hard to get clients so he is looking to a more regular job in the field he worked in for a long time. (Working for a sign company.) Also I go to the post office to pick up some packages with Josiah from the PO box. A nice lady has been sending the kids some clothes and this time it was Josiah and Pearl's turn to get some clothes. They were really grateful for the clothes. I also turn in my "personal driving record request" letter to the CA DMV. I don't know if the information they send back will be sufficient for the picky NYC DMV but I'm praying its enough info! I tried to just get a regular non driving ID card but they said I didn't have enough proof of identity. I even brought my birth and marriage certificate, SS card, my proof of residency, and a credit card. That wasn't enough. They needed my health cards too, but those were in my lost wallet😭 Oh well, God knows. I'm just hoping I can get an ID/ driver's license at some point! #momlife

I'm praying for the right job door to open suddenly for Marc and for him to stay encouraged. God will provide. Sometimes right before you experience a breakthrough and sometimes after a major breakthrough all hell seems to break loose. Weird stuff like loosing the wallet - it's spiritual warefare.

Maybe it would help to have a shopping trolley and/or a garden cart for lugging stuff around? We use both! (Small country town, no car.)
Praying for Marc; I hope he finds a wonderful job! Living in Wisconsin with a large family can be financially challenging; I can't imagine living in NYC with a large family. Our housing is cheaper, but we need vehicles and use lots of gas to get anywhere. We drive over an hour to grocery shop at Costco, haha! That store looks fantastic, and your green hat is super cute! I hope you figure out the whole DMV thing! My goodness!

Have you considered shopping at an asian/chinese grocer? It is often much cheaper for produce and herb/spices. Even meat. For large family on a budget its so much more economical.
Yes! I would like to try that. Chinatown has a number of good markets but it is a ways from our house. There is a large Caribbean population here in Harlem. So I definitely use the local markets for some of our weekly staples and to tide us over between Costco trips.
@@junebuchholtz287 Cheaper isn't always the best option. To eat properly sometimes you need to spend money on a better quality of product. Better eating means less doctors and hospitals stays.

Yes! It may be that someone sent it to the address on my driver’s license in California but maybe eventually it will get to us! I say that because I don’t see weird charges on the credit cards. So I think either someone honest found it or the street sweeper swept it up!

If your kids like soda but you don't like them to have it they do have sparkling flavored water. Some are better then others. But most have no calories and little to no sugar. They taste pretty good. They also have "Healthy" sodas which I have never tried.

I like seeing the different grocery store you shopped at. It would be interesting to see the prices where you normally shop, and this new store and a comparison. I always try and peak at the prices at your TJ and Costco, but don't always see them in your video. Maybe a future video idea! Thanks
Yes! Trader Joe’s prices are definitely cheaper than most grocery store chains but I think that is because they make most of their own products. It’s sort of like a well made generic product which prevents the name brand mark up. Sometimes vegetables cost more than at Costco but at Costco if I need something in bulk that’s usually the best deal.❤️
So sorry about your wallet. It's a difficult process to get everything replaced. Driver's licenses are the most difficult. It's crazy what is required to renew a license, let alone replace a lost one. I'm praying a great job will open up for Marc. I was surprised that your post office wasn't very busy. I love the old post office boxes. 💜

Just a couple of ideas for tik tok. You could do the bunny hop. Some kids could dance and the others play their instruments. Also you could do a tik tok about how much everything cost and use monopoly money or oversized checks (cheques) and one child could be rent, another music lessons, subway, parking, health insurance, laundry mat, food etc
Did you ever get your drivers license worked out? I use Bells poultry seasoning. It’s in a small cardboard box with a turkey on the front. It’s a very old company. You can usually find it. It’s just a small little box, I think it’s yellow in color with a pretty colored turkey on the front. It’s not extremely expensive either.

I had to watch your video twice in order to figure out what's exactly going on. As you usually take the subway or when you go shopping you drive your van. So I asked you if you are walking to these places as I see no vehicle, and you have your baby in a stroller which you never take when you take the subway. Sometimes things aren't all that clear so I have to watch your video twice.
O k I do see that you did answer my question that you are walking. So it seems that there are stores and a post office near your home so you could walk to those places. Why do you have your packages delivered to the Post Office rather than directly to your home?
I just got my ID back. I live in nyc to I went to the department of finance to get it. Or you can go to motor vehicle on 125th. You lease/ deed, ss card, birth certificate all all points even a library cards are points.
Yes! I think I was just missing 2 points. I think if I brought my lease and maybe even bringing Marc with his ID will give me the correct amount of points.
The clothes looked perfect and it's really kind that someone sent them as that is a true blessing. When the kids were saying i needed this it reminded that God will always provide for our needs in some way. I just had to renew my drivers license because in my country that is done at age 45. All it took was the right form, 20 minute queue, photo, ID and of course money. I was in and out in half an hour. You must be so frustrated with the NYC process, I feel bad for you. I hope that at some point you will be to get the records you need to replace the one that's lost. 😊

I noticed that the majority of the clothing and shoes are for your older college students, Pearl and Josiah. Do they have a birthday this month? June is a nice month to have a birthday as it's 6 months removed from Christmas,so as you said, it's like having Christmas in June. Today is Flag Day so are you doing anything special to celebrate that? I always am aware of flag day as I , along with President Trump, have a birthday on that day.

I didn't notice a hurt look on any of the younger children's faces when they didn't get a present. I would think that a family that size the children are used to not receiving things when others are receiving because not everybody can get showered with presents all the time except maybe for Christmas. I remember when I was a child and there was only 3 in the family sometimes. I got things and my siblings did not and vise versa.

Yes! The thing that really threw me off was that I showed all of my papers to the first receptionist and she said “ok everything looks good” and she even took my picture for the card, then the second receptionist said I didn’t have the right papers which really confused me. Maybe it’s a matter of finding the right receptionist!

I've seen some of the comments on tick tock. I don't know why people have to be so Mean a negative. I often hear them saying that if you put yourself out the public. Then you should be open to be criticized. I bet most of these people that they saw you in person. They wouldn't have the nerve to say what they say. But they're hiding behind the keyboard so they think that they are safe and anything goes.
I hope Mark finds a job. Everything is so expensive. Maybe in the meantime try to make grocery budget cuts to anything extra like drinks, some snacks, anything that doesn't make bellies full if that makes sense. Cut things like special seasonings, juice, expensive meats. Maybe you could do a budget haul for next weeks trip. We are definitely struggling to not spend all our money at the grocery store. We for sure feel broker than normal.
Yes, especially as the staples like eggs and milk are so expensive. The kids have spending money they earn themselves from doing music so they buy a lot of their extra snacks anyway (so we don’t have to) which is helpful.
I would love to see a budget grocery video. I think a lot of people would benefit.
You mention often in your videos about the children having spending money as well as paying for their lessons. I understand that they do this by busking. Can you give us more details how that works? I would like to know how often they have to busk in order to pay for all of this and have spending money . Also I would like to have explained how you divide up the money after each time you are out there performing. I wish we would have people performing like your talented family.
They just buy snacks. Them having their own spending money helps them budget. Most of the older kids buy legos and so forth. But some of the kids like snacks.
The music money just goes to a music fund and goes to lessons, strings, a new instrument, ect. Some kids have more expensive lessons, some are cheaper. It also helps Josiah pay tuition for college. But 10% they get for just fun spending money. Sometimes they buy gifts, but really it’s their choice. Busking depends on the weather and who is available, sometimes if everyone is busy we just stay home. We are pretty flexible. Lately we’ve been finishing the homeschool year up so there hasn’t been much time.
