What sets your channel apart from all others is the humbleness / realness. It's genuinely more relatable and we all lean more about training than the guys that just post their Ws! That course looks nasty AF, path so narrow too so would have been a nightmare to pass people on in laps!
Haha, I generally only feel close to my best for a really short time so the perfect polished version of me wouldn’t allow for very frequent uploads 😂 The 38 finishers really helped with the lapping. Victoria paths are similar and gets over 400 😬 Appreciate the support always!
Good effort, Drumchapel has obviously changed somewhat since I grew up there. I remember running part of that course 40 years ago and I definitely ran much faster than you… I was being chased by a gang of neds, all about to stab me while their dogs tried to bite my arse! Hopefully those days don’t return! 😅
Looked like you were flying, unreal that was 'only' 17 mins! Drumchapel looks a stunning place to suffer at least and congrats on smashing Valencia. I see the course record was set in June, surely the December sludge is worth a good 20 seconds ;)
😂 unfortunately my parents made me look good by not getting out to the long drag of a hill where I was huffing and puffing. Haha, I’m not sure there was many seconds there with a June conversion. This was a definite skill issue. Although it’s basically my local so I’ll maybe have to give it another go in the summer
I’m a local and I love that long drag! The hill that makes me regret my life choices is the one just before it, because the material is so loose to go with the steep incline.
Haha, it's interesting hearing from someone who's actually done it! I think the steep one was short enough that I could fake it. You can't fake a hill that just keeps going and going 😂
I did it for the first time two weeks before this and loved it. It was some challenge though, well done. And I just worked out that I was only around 1:25 off my usual time so maybe I’m not working hard enough at the flat ones!
Nice one. You can also use the 5K for fastest 100 times which tells me you went 2nd all time in front of Bicarrb Josh. We use the app the find age category records which Dawn sometimes chases on our video. But a real shame that you can't have the depth of records that would show me, for example, if I can get in the top 100 M50s.
Ohh interesting! You can take away the records but we runners will always find a way to find them! Haha Keep up the videos and hopefully Dawn can get some age category records in the near future!
That was a fun vid! Nice work man, 5k are definitely a different pain 😂 I have never run an all out 5k with other people only solo time trial kind of stuff but I really want to attempt something just under 18min sometime soon. I definitely struggle with time off training as well so I like to try to stay consistent.
Thank you! You should definitely get out and get some company for the attempt. Having people around you means you can't go easy on yourself 😂 Strathclyde park is probably the fastest parkrun option around Glasgow. It's pretty exposed though so don't go on a windy day!
@@Ryan.Thomson i was considering crammond in Edinburgh but also tough if windy 😫 you can just pace me and take the brunt of the wind, thanks in advance 😂
Queens isn't a million miles away from Drumchapel in terms of elevation. According to my Garmin Queens has 116m elevation vs 128m at Drumchapel. Funnily enough both of them have kinder finishes than Victoria.
I have the pro 3s and they are amazing on tar but for light trail not so great. A pair of more grippy supershoes would massively help imo. Really enjoyed the vid and need to get Drumchapel ticked off.
Yeah I definitely agree! I’m just glad we’re a few years on from the original 4%s. I think they spent so long making those things bouncy that they forgot to add any grip whatsoever 😂 Haha, I’ve did many a grass session around Tollcross so I know how tough that must be as well
17:01? What kept you sloth 😅 lol apparently the toughest parkrun in Scotland! I might need to try it sometime, the toughest one I’ve done is rozelle in Ayr
😂 it really is all relative. Haha yeah I can vouch for it being a tough course. I have only ran flat parkruns before this though so not much to compare it to!
I visited Vienna for a few days in the Summer (arrived Saturday afternoon unfortunately). Definitely happy for any excuse to go back as it was great! Really enjoyed the running there too
Yeah she actually started running because of Aberdeen parkrun while she was at uni up there! I'll need to go back with her at some point (when it isn't windy 😂)
17 mins on that course with that ground is incredible! Really enjoying seeing you show all the work you’re putting in
@@RunningAllTheTyne Thanks very much! Glad you’re still enjoying the content!

😂😂 I’m sure the neds still exist but luckily the Saturday night version of parkrun never took off and they’re all still in their bed at 9:30am

Drumchapel is not a stunning place

Alasdair is a very good hill runner. You’ll be doing well if you take his crown. 02:15 marathon is amazing to be fair.
Yeah he definitely is. Maybe one day I’ll get it but last Saturday was not that day haha. Thank you!
Cracking video - you're too hard on yourself - great effort from a road marathon runner.
Thanks very much!
2nd of all time is brilliant. Well done.
Thank you!!
Love this parkrun although tend to keep to Queens on the Southside of Glasgow as my weekly hill session 🙂
Yeah from what I've heard Queens would make for a great hill session!
Queens isn't a million miles away from Drumchapel in terms of elevation. According to my Garmin Queens has 116m elevation vs 128m at Drumchapel.
Funnily enough both of them have kinder finishes than Victoria.
Well done Ryan brilliant.done two Park run in Glasgow .
Thanks very much! We definitely have a lot of them!
More like a trail run
I have the pro 3s and they are amazing on tar but for light trail not so great. A pair of more grippy supershoes would massively help imo. Really enjoyed the vid and need to get Drumchapel ticked off.
Also try tollcross. That's got some cheeky up hills..

I think it is about 2'30" for conversion purpose on a flat course. It is hard!
Haha yeah it is. I don’t have any 5Ks planned so unfortunately I can only speculate
How did you find the course record?
Sorry nevermind started to rewarch the video and found it straight away
Apparently there is also a 5K app that a few people mentioned in the comments!
9 30am
(Sun is barely up) 😂
And by 3:30pm it's almost down. I really love it 🙃
Well done to you both finishing 1st
Thanks a lot!
You can easily see course records on the 5k app, since it’s the parkrun app but newer
Ahh, I don't do enough parkruns to know this. Thank you!
come to Vienna for a really fast parkrun course
I visited Vienna for a few days in the Summer (arrived Saturday afternoon unfortunately). Definitely happy for any excuse to go back as it was great! Really enjoyed the running there too
That looked HARD!!!! 🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣👊💙🤍
😂😂 I tried not to mention it
Great vid
Thank you!
Battersea park London is the place for a for a fast 5k 👍🏆
Yeah I’ve seen some good results and videos from races around there. Hopefully in 2025 I can get down!
I thought I recognised your GF, so I checked her Parkrun stats: yup, must have seen her at Aberdeen Parkrun! 😊 Small (running) world.
Yeah she actually started running because of Aberdeen parkrun while she was at uni up there! I'll need to go back with her at some point (when it isn't windy 😂)
