WOW!!! The fact that management did not take a firmer stand lets you know what kind of service to expect. What a joke of a manager!
If you didn’t fire the employee(s) responsible you’re not truly sorry
Oh they are sorry, the scam went bad. That employee is not sorry, he still has his job.. Why should he be sorry? The dealer won't fire him because he was doing his job up selling the service. The mechanic is a money maker for the dealer. Why fire him? He was doing what the dealer wants him to do. In this case turning an oil change into a $500 service bill.
The majority of successful business owners doesn’t want a dishonest and vengeful employee working for them. If they’ll steal from the customer they’ll steal from the business. If they have no respect for the customer they’ll also have no respect for your business.
Sailingsolar is right. The guy got mad in the recording because the scam didn't work. He was following orders.
@@TheRudedaddy Yep! And I'd bet his pay is likely a percentage on what he brings in (bills out). Most people have no clue how dealers work or how other scams work and it is a waste of time explaining it because there will always be people who don't know and they will get scammed. The last time I went to a dealer about 6 months ago I had to get a chipped key made for $150. While waiting I marveled at my surrounding and how much customer money it cost to create it. I understood why it cost $150 to have them make a simple key. I later found that a lock smith could make that key for $65. Less than half. Best wishes, people.
@@jphickory522 I'd like to address (question) two finer points related to your reply.
1) You said the "majority of successful business,,," So your not saying "ALL" businesses and this one might not be like "most",,, correct??
2) Would you also say we have no way to know how this dealership operates at all and whether it operates like "the majority of successful businesses" or if it would keep an employee that is "dishonest in nature" IF it was of sufficient monetary value to the business in the future?
I feel we should never assume how any business operates based on how we believe other businesses do. Certainly not beyond any direct knowledge relevant to this case at hand.
What we seemingly do know about how THIS business operates is they in fact chose to not fire this employee for trying to increase the customers' bill for doing work not requested or previously authorized and when called out on it retaliated against the customer wasting at least an hour of his time more than he already did. What did the dealership do?? They said they hand words with said employee. Well, "Whoopidy do da"! Cheers.
Probably not the first time this happened but this time they got caught. Would never take my car there!!!
Counseled the employees? They weren't fired? Based on that alone I would never do business with them.
Consulted to watch out for customer's dachcams.
Call American Honda Corporation I believe they will fire them on the spot I promise you there's all kinds of training and certificates you have to get working in dealerships nowadays they will definitely be fired
@InfoWarSSideBand Central Media Information Archive i really don't. Plz explain?
Mr. Grey that’s not how it works, don’t be silly.
Want your reputation restored? Fire all involved!
"A big misunderstanding" !!! Seriously! The employee did that on purpose I am willing to bet
Love that they tried to blame the customer saying it "escalated on both sides". Screw that dealership. Oh and they "counseled" the employee? How bout firing him? Nah, wouldn't want to do that, that would make sense.
That's why they're called stealerships :/
My mechanic works from home. I have zero trust taken it to big shops
He won't fire those employees cause the ones who push unnecessary service are the most profitable. I bet this customer isn't the first to have this "misunderstanding" that results in a $500 bill when you come in for an oil change.
absolutely.
ruclips.net/video/Lyt-iPX5YwU/видео.html
"Escalated on both parties..." Wrong way to handle this and hopefully it lost them customers. You absolutely cannot say things like, "It's our fault, BUT..."
Video shows the real side of people in every profession, job and situation. This era of video footage capturing people behaving badly is great. Just think...this guy got caught, how many other people have been screwed over at this dealership as well as many others.
A reason why doing all the basic work (oil, fluid changes, brakes, battery exchanges) yourself is a good idea.
"There's no excuse" proceeds to make excuses
Thank you! It's scary that so many have a chip on their shoulder especially with so many looking for jobs!
There's a large mechanic shortage, they have to put up with these types of employees.

@@ratherbfishing455 That's true, a lot of community colleges are dropping auto class due to low enrollment. Most garages want you to finance 25k in tools just to make 15.00 an hour. That's how we end up with people like these.
@@Justin-yk1du My mechanic used to pay his employers $40 to $50 an hour.
Rather B Fishing highly doubt that.
I bet this incident is not the first time it happened here, so stay clear from this shady dealership.
It wasn't a miss-understanding and the employee still works there. What do you think the chances I'll buy a Honda from those guys?
Little inside info I got from a service advisor that was there at the time he was. Basically the customer approved the battery, then was unhappy about how much it was and said he didn’t want it after the work had been done. As frustrating it was, he made the wrong move making the customer wait. When my advisors have a bad customer we get them out asap.
If the employee is not fired, then it was an empty apology along with an approval of that employee's behavior
IVE BEEN TO THAT SAME LOCATION AND THEY TRIED HOLDING MY CAR FOR HOURS FOR A 30 MIN JOB AND I KNOW HOW DEALERSHIPS WORKS SO I KEPT BUGGING THEM AND WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK IT WAS NOT RUNNING RIGHT AND AFTER 6 months my car completely died and didn’t come back to life and I had to get a new car
lmao did you try giving it cpr
I bet they don’t even like dealing with you
Misunderstanding ? That's rich. Calling your customers F'ers ? I can understand that perfectly well. Adios .
He is only apologizing that they called the customer names and held the car up for an hour.... what about all the unauthorized work they performed? And all he did was counsel the employees??? They should be fired if that is their attitude...obviously there are enough employees at this dealership with this attitude that if he were to fire every one who acted like this he wouldn't have a service department, so he had to "counsel" them instead.
Yes it is, he's only sorry they got caught and called out
THEY COUNSELED THE EMPLOYEES? I WOULD HAVE FIRED THEM. A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE LOOKING FOR WORK THAT WILL BE JUST AS GOOD OR BETTER MECHANICS THAN THEM. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN. THERE ARE A LOT OF HONDA DEALERS AROUND AS WELL.
They should definitely have been immediately fired. No excuse
I'd like to know why the customer was considered an "expletive? If he was, then he deserved to wait
@Northside Honda we will not forget
I call BS, you simply got caught this time.
That's why I fix my own car. Dealerships are a scam in every way imaginable.
Had that happen to me a few years ago where I was sent a letter to bring it in for a recall when I brought it in I got the vehicle with a check engine light on and the recall part was not even installed cause they said they didn’t have the part... I then had to take it back and before I did I had my mechanic check everything and the vehicle was fine until I took it back for the recall which then again it was returned to me with a check engine light on again. They were trying to rob me for a sensor which I purchased and put on myself for $25 and they were trying to rob me for $475+ thanks to them I do my own work. Thieves!!!
This why im ok with educating the public again on car maintenance. It doesnt take two years of community college and 20k to the Snap on truck to be a car mechanic.
He’s so nonchalant about it lol. The fact that he says “This isn’t how we do business.” Well guess what actions speak louder than words! I don’t own a Honda but I’ll be sure to let everyone I know that does to NEVER go to this place of business! He definitely should’ve been fired!
Should have been terminated after the GM met with all employees.
Customer Service is alway 1st priority.. Period….
It happens everywhere. If somebody comes in intentionally being a jackass, well I can say the squeaky wheel doesn't necessarily get the grease. I'm going to get my nice customers done first.
did you miss the part where they did work to his vehicle that he declined to have done? do you put new batteries in cars after the customer tells you no?
@@domusdebellum3042 I've been around dealerships for 40 years. There's more to the story then is being told.
@@danven1256 yes, the techs are trained to upsell and "accidentally" do extra unauthorized work with the hopes the customer will just pay the bill and be out the door. the owner was almost convincing acting surprised this happens at his dealership. theres a reason the employees werent fired. they were doing what they were told.
@@domusdebellum3042 I've never worked at a dealership that will intentionally change a part on a car and try to get the customer to pay for it. Almost always the service writer is sloppy and misunderstands the customers request or the customer misunderstands the cost and then realize they can't afford it. Sometimes customers are deliberately deceptive and try to scam the dealership. I even had a woman come in and drop off a car for repair. Then the husband came in to pick it up. He refused to pay anything because his wife wasn't on the title. And he was correct. He was a lawyer and knew how to work the system. When you've been around a dealership as long as I have you seen it all.
Accidentally did the work? Yet the dealership didn’t charge him.. now this becomes an internal deal.. management will ask why parts are being internally paid for..by who? Sales, parts, service? Now who’s going to pay the techs? They don’t work for free..
This dude probably authorized it, saw zeros in his bank account and called trying to decline the work while it was already completed.
His feelings are hurt. End of story.
I ain't going to that place ever. F that.
Stand up owner. But fire the employees and do not provide work which has not been authorized. Car Repair 101. Stop doing things to pad the bill.
Love that he didnt want to taks of his mask. Haha. Scammers
I betcha that customer was an asshole to the people trying to help him. The video only shows one side. They probably made the poor tech undo all the work he was told to do and not pay him a dime is more than likely the case. I work in a service industry also and I can say “buyers and liars.” Why do you think signatures are so important? If that customer tried to pull the same stunt at a doctors office….
Law suit hahahahahahahahaha brand new car?????? I think every car dealership should have a viewing area gor the customers on a tv? With sound in waiting rooms by law!!!!
