To an extent. You'll hear stories about persistence in the face of rejection leading to a happy marriage. While I'm not an expert on relationships, I expect there are unspoken rules about how much is too much and in what ways.
@Guy LeDouche if the person asking for consent is doing something to coerce the person answering, whether they said "yes" or "no" doesn't matter in that situation there's no yes in regular scenerios: interpreting yes as no doesn't end up with the violation of anyone's rights interpreting no as yes can turn into crime and broken trust I think there might be a reason people care more about just taking answers as "no" when they aren't explicitly or able to be "yes"

It is great for people to be confident and not afraid to get shot down, but persisting after you are told "no" outright is never cool. Not being a creep should be so simple, just back off if someone says "no thanks." The idea that "sometimes no actually means maybe ;)" just makes things muddy and harder for everyone.
Exactly. If the person who said no eventually decides that they want to say yes, then they can decide that and reach out to the person. But no should always be taken as a no even if you think they mean yes and are playing hard to get.

The kind of "he kept persisting even after she said no multiple times" thing is so romanticised. When I was a teen I idealised that a little but as an adult who has experienced that.... It is extremely uncomfortable at the least, and can have very bad consequences when taken to extremes. It's weird, it isn't only young girls who are socialised to accept this, but guys are told that this is ok, even romantic (it shows your're willing to "fight" for your love!) and then get confused when women aren't ok with it. At least this is my limited experience. It is a confusing world.
I'm sorry you went through that and I'm sorry there are so many horrendous things like this upholding/romanticizing such harmful norms. Hopefully as awareness, education, and accountability spread these kinds of things will be taken more seriously, addressed, and prevented.

The thing about the grading scale is soooo accurate. My school is changing to a college grading scale next year to make things easier and to help students who are taking college classes. My school however won’t let college courses be on a 5 point scale which makes most students gpa much lower because they translate it into a 4 point scale.
Colleges translate your grades into their system. That's why you're always asked for your full transcript. Don't worry too much about the actual number of your high school GPA.

also, this isn't cuban culture. lol. she oversexualizing and generalizing about an entire culture that just..........isn't like that. it's racist and frankly quite creepy.
It's called machismo and it's something latin cultures struggle with more in this moment, but that doesn't make it okay. Asian cultures struggle with suicide rates, it doesn't mean we should all consider suicide more often
It's okay in some cultures to kidnap a woman and make her your bride
To an extent. You'll hear stories about persistence in the face of rejection leading to a happy marriage.
While I'm not an expert on relationships, I expect there are unspoken rules about how much is too much and in what ways.
@Guy LeDouche if the person asking for consent is doing something to coerce the person answering, whether they said "yes" or "no" doesn't matter
in that situation there's no yes
in regular scenerios:
interpreting yes as no doesn't end up with the violation of anyone's rights
interpreting no as yes can turn into crime and broken trust
I think there might be a reason people care more about just taking answers as "no" when they aren't explicitly or able to be "yes"
Is... is she stereotyping/generalizing Cuban people? I’m genuinely asking cuz her saying that Cubans are like that makes me uncomfortable
Yes, yes she is
@UCGXAdhvHAuY8WnQHObwxuew she is defi nitely not from cuba unless her grandparents are from there, her name says exactly where she is from (Israel) and as an Israeli this is some bad representation for us
The answer is yes
@@shalevasor911 Now it makes sense why she brought up Israel

She's acting like seduction only became associated with sexuality in the last few decades but it's been that way since about the 15th century where the Latin term "Seducere" was used to describe a person being lead to abandon their duty / position (usually with the promise of gratification for doing so), and the word "Seductress" has been around since the 1800s as a term for (usually) a woman being sexual towards (usually) a man in an attempt to sleep with them, it's not a new concept, she's preaching total crap
Lmao she has done no research clearly 🤣
It's also been depicted in numerous religions, like sirens from Greek mythology
It only takes 10 seconds to Google "seduce etymology" yet she didn't even bother 🤦♀️

*HOLD UP*
Just a moment ago she said anyone can be seductive, yet now she says it comes down to your DNA? This woman just bamboozled herself!
do we all just have the same dna now??? is earth just one giant incest ring????
I mean....we do all got dna, right? 👀
As do all living things...
If we follow her logic all living things have the potential to be seductive (especially chickens as she references them repeatedly in her seductive techniques)
@@PossiblyAlena "It all comes down to your DNA" means your seductivity will be defined by DNA, which differs between people. As DNA differs between people so does the seductive potential between them.
@@I_THE_ME oh I got what you meant I was just messing with the idea by taking it a different way but yeah I agree with you
I think she means human DNA. Humans share a very large percentage of our DNA, only differing in small sections.

It’s still creepy
It sounds creepy with a girl

oh I was creeped out the entire time anyway
i feel like she owes a major apology to the cuban people as a whole
So who's gonna tell her that beauty standards and ideal body types have existed for thousands of years before television and print advertising were even a thing?
It is great for people to be confident and not afraid to get shot down, but persisting after you are told "no" outright is never cool.
Not being a creep should be so simple, just back off if someone says "no thanks." The idea that "sometimes no actually means maybe ;)" just makes things muddy and harder for everyone.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!
The problem is than no often means maybe or even yes, this is something that happens in all areas of life.
Exactly. If the person who said no eventually decides that they want to say yes, then they can decide that and reach out to the person. But no should always be taken as a no even if you think they mean yes and are playing hard to get.
She didn't really teach me anything about mastering seduction 😂😂😂 I feel like she said a lot and nothing at the same time

I am so uncomfortable with not only how she thinks it's okay to turn a no into yes but with how she sexualizes Cubans and their culture. And the whole grinding pool involving children omg ew ew ewwwww.
The fact that some men will watch this TED talk of an attractive women claiming that women secretly find sexual harassment sexy is honestly terrifying to me. I was born and raised in Cuba and I can tell you for sure she is exaggerating!!!! It is true that we Cubans are a little bit more “socially warm” to say it in a way that Americans but we’re not wild animals grinding with each other all day 🙂
The kind of "he kept persisting even after she said no multiple times" thing is so romanticised.
As an assault survivor this Tedx talk makes me feel disgusted...

You talking about your high school grading 94-100 as an A reminds me of my K-8 Catholic school. 93-100 was an A because everything below 70 was an F. It wasn't until high school (yes, it was a public school) that it rounded out to 90-100 being an A and everything below 60 being an F.
I love it when you and your wife do commentary together. It's amazing.
She wrong on about every front. 1) children should not be taught to be seductive, I didn’t think I’d have to say that 2) men should not take no’s as maybes, if she isn’t interested stop harassing her. I could go on
To build on your points, 3) don’t stereotype/ generalize or sexualize Cubans as if they’re animal on a documentary

The thing about the grading scale is soooo accurate. My school is changing to a college grading scale next year to make things easier and to help students who are taking college classes. My school however won’t let college courses be on a 5 point scale which makes most students gpa much lower because they translate it into a 4 point scale.
Wtf that’s so annoying, your transcript is gna look weird
Colleges translate your grades into their system. That's why you're always asked for your full transcript. Don't worry too much about the actual number of your high school GPA.
My high school had the same grading scale as Scott's (93 or above for an A) and it was literally because they wanted us to have to try harder, lmfao. We were ranked #1 in the state and I think this was their motivation
