Alright. Can I just say how much I love this video? Enya is the pentacross, the bridge between my Old Faith and the Young (2000 years is young as religions go)... The castle is the place of Christ, where the messenger takes up Enya's crown. But she is in the forests, with the Lord of Seasons and the Lady of Life. The old king is the Lord of Seasons in human form, and he gives up his throne to Enya, for what of the King Stag when the young stag (or the young hind, in this case) is grown? No one can reign forever. And here's the beautiful part. Enya rides out from the Christian castle, and seeks the old king's blessing in the pagan forest. But she meets the messenger on the lake--neutral ground. She is the bridge. She has taken the mantle of Mary, who kept the spirit of the Lady alive when the Old Faith went underground, and still keeps the balance now that we have returned. As a native Irish Bostonian who has finally made it to Southern California after hopping around the Midwest for a few months the theme & magical sounds of this timeless, veneration steeped & sublimely reflective masterpiece resonate with greater depth along with this poignancy & intimacy whose endearment can be felt more keenly, more beautifully & more poetically, all as I continue that age old, restless movement westward, in a fashion not unlike my Celtic (& stone age) antecedents from way back. From the Steppes of Russia to Central Europe to the British Isles to Ireland to the upper East Coast of America then to the Midwest before finally reaching the shores of the Pacific has ancient tradition been followed, & have I adhered to the heartfelt calls of my far off, mist enshrouded forebears, those whose westward migrations helped shape & determine the very course of history including that in the formation of the New World, with their cultural imprint still lingering powerfully & hauntingly in places. 0:18 How Enya gets to work every morning :) I listen to all kinds of music. Mostly rock/hard rock. But nothing out there sounds like Enya, and I've listened to a lot of stuff. Though there is some metal (power metal, symphonic metal) in Europe that incorporates a similar vocal style (not the dozens of layers though) and there is some rock in Japan that has a similar fantasy vibe, nothing really brings it all together the way Enya does. When someone asked Enya how she would describe her music and she just said "Enya," that's pretty much spot on. Hope she's got at least one more album in her. It's been about 9 years since the last one. I got no expectations or ideas about it, just whatever she puts out will undoubtedly be a gift to the world.

As a native Irish Bostonian who has finally made it to Southern California after hopping around the Midwest for a few months the theme & magical sounds of this timeless, veneration steeped & sublimely reflective masterpiece resonate with greater depth along with this poignancy & intimacy whose endearment can be felt more keenly, more beautifully & more poetically, all as I continue that age old, restless movement westward, in a fashion not unlike my Celtic (& stone age) antecedents from way back. From the Steppes of Russia to Central Europe to the British Isles to Ireland to the upper East Coast of America then to the Midwest before finally reaching the shores of the Pacific has ancient tradition been followed, & have I adhered to the heartfelt calls of my far off, mist enshrouded forebears, those whose westward migrations helped shape & determine the very course of history including that in the formation of the New World, with their cultural imprint still lingering powerfully & hauntingly in places. That of the distant, original Celtic inhabitants (albeit those who thoroughly mixed in with the indigenous natives of the lands that they settled, thus the development & hybridization of a new breed, new cultures & new nations, like Scotland, Wales & Ireland!).
In other words since transplanting myself westwards this magnificent tune has taken on an altogether deeper, more nostalgically evocative meaning, one that is both of spiritual dimensions & primeval in its depths, all as I answered that soulful call of my ancestors.

I listen to all kinds of music. Mostly rock/hard rock. But nothing out there sounds like Enya, and I've listened to a lot of stuff. Though there is some metal (power metal, symphonic metal) in Europe that incorporates a similar vocal style (not the dozens of layers though) and there is some rock in Japan that has a similar fantasy vibe, nothing really brings it all together the way Enya does. When someone asked Enya how she would describe her music and she just said "Enya," that's pretty much spot on.
Hope she's got at least one more album in her. It's been about 9 years since the last one. I got no expectations or ideas about it, just whatever she puts out will undoubtedly be a gift to the world.
I love Celtic Pop since Enya. This is so special and always perfect produced.
