Watches, especially luxry watches, have always been associated with two sports I find. F1 and Tennis. I think it comes from the prestige and upper-class image of both sports compared to the others.
the vacheron has this lovely vintage and elegant feel that would wear nicely on anyone's wrist. i have a similar shaped watch - seiko 7546-8090. not as fancy or expensive, but a classic nonetheless.

I absolutely love my yachtmaster. To me, it's the perfect watch. It can be worn at virtually any occasion. And at the time I could have paid 8 grand for a versatile Rolex with precious metal or 15 grand for a stainless sub.... Give me some platinum any day

I turned my down new full plastic in March 2023, I didn't think it worth it. I buy watches to wear and use I don't worry about secondary nor how much people are willing to pay especially those with much deeper pockets than me. It's a really nice piece but I added three really solid watches fir that one VC222 that would only get wrist time here and there.

Watch critics, lovers, collectors, RUclipsrs are hurting our selves by exaggerating on how magnificent watches are and the people whom wear and buy them. I've been in the watch game four decades and sold off over two hundred pieces that I no longer loved or desired. I know whom and where Brad buys most of his pieces including that VC222, I even know his taste and his fancy. Hey, the guy has bread he can buy anything and won't flinch at all Okay what's the point, well the watch manufactures follow our response and as a result raise prices twice a year and over price most of their offerings by releasing special edition, limited edition, save the planet, HODINKEE models etc. I was offered a full plastic new VC222 from a dealer who I purchased several recent Rolex's and I tell you it's nice but not worth the dough IMO. My most expensive watch is an Angelus full symmetrical skeleton flying Tourbillon sport in orange, gorgeous but overpriced. Also the secondary market is all hype, those guys are selling dreams buy exaggerating and inflating prices. I so,my hulk at the right time cause it's a good watch but not great.

There is no way that you have truly vetted Masterworks as a sponsor. It is a fee laden platform with risks that i seriously doubt you have ever considered before allowing them to sponsor. I’m not suggesting that I know MW is dishonest and in fact I have never done business with them. But i am familiar with their business model and familiar with the art mkt as a private art buyer for decades. Unless one is pretty sophisticated in investing and in the art mkt specifically, no way an investor is going to appreciate the risks and fees of MW. A couple of examples: buying art at auction (where most sophisticated buyers acquire art) is itself very fee heavy, so once you buy a piece of art you have to overcome a fee to the art house of upwards of 50% before you can profit - 25% on each side of a trade. That could result in a very long holding period BC nothing appreciates > 50% in the short term. (2) the art mkt and the MW “mkt” is essentially illiquid, much less liquid than watches. You buy in and want to get out - tough to do so. MW does offer a mkt for sale of shares, but that comes at a price and is itself subject to there being a buyer on the other end. (3) who is holding the art during the “appreciation phase?” The point of buying art is to be able to enjoy it while it potentially is appreciating. The art MW buys must be sitting somewhere and I doubt it is stuck in a warehouse. I’d sure would have loved to have used OPM to buy my collection while i enjoy the art. (4) art in particular is subject to the whims of all sort of “sub markets.” E.g. The Russians love pop one year and the Chinese love Banksy the next. But those powerful demographics fall out of love too, and that can result in mkt collapse that can impact all art from a single artist. (5) the past history of MW performance they mkt is itself a joke - too limited and unclear if MW was selling the winners for marketing purposes and holding the losers and, yes, there are always losers. Not suggesting at all that MW is the next FTX - I have no idea - but my point is that post FTX I would hope that YT influencer types (which could include T+H) would stick to non-investment related sponsors where the YTer can at least say “I love ABC boxers and in fact, i am wearing some right now!”
