Will the Archives missions return to Overwatch 2?

- Since the announcement of Overwatch 2 in 2019, the concept of Overwatch 2 PvE has gone through all stages of existence, to the point that five years later, we’re back where we started. Without PvE
Although technically, that is not correct. On one end, we still have the invasion missions that they released back in the summer of 2023, and there are the hero masteries.
On the other hand, we actually lost the content that got this adventure started: the archives missions. Might those ever come back?

they still have the achievements for those missions in overwatch 2. i don't understand why they wouldn't add them if the achievements are still there towards the completion.
they have the achievements in steam as well, so yeah maybe archives are coming back
I miss Those 3 modes i don't really care about hero mastery gauntle either. But Archives i do want back

I really hope so. I really miss archives so much.
I doubt it but I hope so. I miss retribution. I feel like that was peak overwatch, where they still really cared about story
I want them to, but probably not. I remember a questionnaire they did where they responded to someone asking this question. They gave some BS awnser about not wanting to waste time porting the missions to the new engine. But thats dumb considering they did it for junkensteins revenge and since they are not making anymore pve missions they may as well port it over now.
i know uprising won't return because of bastion and orisa reworks. it breaks immersion because the lore behind their abilities is that their creators made those specifically for them. it wouldn't make sense for the null sector bots to have them. buuuut blizzard is too lazy to create 2 separate bastion and orisa heroes just for it.
@SSADO- the mirror universe event debunks that excuse. It has characters with different abilities than what we have in the actual game.
@@junkerpug it's because they already coded these in the cancelled pve. as for the ow1 bastion and orisa, they've been comletely deleted. so, not debunked
@@SSADO- the assets are still in the game, orisas highlight intro still uses the halt projectile and it has her old shield too

The thing is those of us that played the 3 story missions actually brought them, taking that away without compensation would not go down well
Want them too,considering they gutted and lied about the pve there’s very little reason not too aside from “to much work”
I want to replay the old Archives missions so badly!! They're so much fun, I really do hope they bring them back one day! GREAT VIDEO!!!

Even if the Archive-Missions will again just be a time-limited-Event I really hope that they return as they did with every other Event-Modes. I liked the Story-Missions for the lore and cinematics but whenever the Archive-Missions were online I just enjoyed playing the All-Heroes-Modes especially with heroes I don´t normally play that often in PvE like Widowmaker.
I have no idea if the archives will come back but the overwatch team are forcing PvP for now but who knows

I agree with you 10000% percent that Maximilien needs to be added as a playable hero.
Hopefully i can 1 day get my last 2 achievements.
IDK I felt like OW was kinda getting back on its feet again, but with no big trailer for the Xbox Event my expectations are once again at rock bottom

Considering how archives incorporated PVE, Teamwork, and Story Elements into a unique gamemode. (All of which are not on Blizzards to do list) definitely not.

I hope they dont I always thought the Archives missiones were overhyped and overrated af they were literally boring, repetitve and a 1 time thing you never played again
Honestly they should just be free pve missions with no rewards. Realistically though no one’s gonna be playing it after the first week
@@_fire_3647 You don't get any xp grining the pve missions like you used to (via leveling up the account) so theres even less incentive to play the mode.
@@_fire_3647 If the missions would be permanent it might be the case that people wouldn´t play them so often besides the ones who really enjoy PvE but having some PvE which is permanent and not a limited-time-mode like Cosmic Crisis doesn´t sound bad to me.
