Been faffing around with Caliban, and he feels really good to play, really like how you can build diverse with him as he doesn't need too much to do anything. You can spec into shields or health and armor since the summon bois give a lot of shields, his 1 heals and gives energy back, his 2 gives a knockup and damage vulnerability, and his ult does good damage and also armor strips! His summons are decently fun too, probably one of personal favorite parts about him! Have seen people faff around with Nourish or any of the abilities that gave you and allies that type of damage, like ember's 1st augment. If your focus is on your summon’s damage you should probably subsume roar or nourish over his 1 which will greatly increase their damage especially since the ranged units are affected by nourish and will spread both viral and tau status.
Me personally, I built my Caliban for high strength, decent range and duration, and also I put Nourish on him as well over Sentient Wrath Because if you didn't know, Nourish also helps boost your minions' damage as well
your 1st restores health. shields AND ENERGY (if you hit enough enemies. Scales with efficiency like Nidus) your melee buddies cast a half damage copy of your 4 with you when you cast it your 4's beam now strips armor instead of only the explosion (same with the melee minions copy of it) you now deal Tau damage and status (its status proc gives more status chance to that enemy. like dante's paragrims) so yeah. love the rework!
I would personally recommend using blind rage if you're focusing on the minions and not subsuming the 1 off, 1 regens energy based on how much it costs (similar to nidus) so running negative efficiency works really well with it aswell as the extra strength affecting sentients. Subsumes like nourish and roar also do work on the minions for some extra options, enjoy the new Caliban.
I got what i call "caliban's army" build. Wich is subsume nyx's 1 into caliban's 1. Then use kahl ship, nyx specter so she can convert one more enemy, crewman specter, stalker spectre, and basically any other specter you can stack with and then enjoy the chaos 😂
Running triple Umbral on Caliban makes a sort of sense, but I went with shields myself. He's so much fun now. Provided you keep him away from the Infested.
Maybe give him Arcane Reaper for something melee centric? Of if you don’t want to pidgin hold him to a certain play style, I’m thinking of Molt Reconstruct, myself. It might sound counterproductive considering how much duration his abilities need, but if you use Sentient Wrath or maybe even Nourish in quick succession of one another, it might counteract the health drain from the poison procs and along with Nourish’s energy multiplier used in tandem with Equilibrium, and Synth Deconstruct, could help keep him topped off and not running empty as often.
I haven't had time to test it yet, but just like with Nekros and his summons the combo of Nourish and Theorem Infection + Residual Boils should work to massively boost the boys' damage output.

You should do a showcase with Caliban where you have an entire army of minions including specters like Stalker, Kahl, Liches, Sisters, and/or Railjack guys
I think with the shield recharge from the boyz and getting a shield and health refund on his 1, I've gone Arcane Aegis over Grace and found him to be highly survivable shield tanking
what i really want is for caliban specters to be able to use the bois as well... currently the only specter frames that kinda work as a bogo multisummon are khora, atlas, nyx (sorta), and if you really stretch it you could count dante in a way. if caliban specters could actually use their abilities it would be great.
Orthos sadly get stuck waiting for someone to walk into their cone in their setup form but then wait forever because they are set up against a wall or some random room....thus 1-2 of your guys often just get softlocked, the support boys end up doing more damage because 6 shooting guys and 1 big shooty guy. Using my nekros build with kitgun tombfinger + arcanes + nourish and ways to boost the summons maximally while not caring about energy at min energy efficiency. My question is is shields good to go after because my build just use primed redirection to put in more strength at like 330% no shards.
