But during the season when #1 #2 #3 all lose #4 gets to be #1 right? Even if everyone thinks the previous #1 or 2 is the best right? You guys made this exact argument last year that it's not the best team.
FYI, I am a long time UCONN fan. That being said I enjoy this discussion. Everyone knows UCONN lost significant core players from last season heading into this season. That being said, UCONN lost 5 significant players from the prior Championship Team. Good point that returning players last season were studs. Hurley and his coaching staff are elite. Recent performance matters. Not sure why Kansas is preseason ranked number 1 game. Gain performance matters. Kansas never had a chance to win the National Championship even with a healthy team. Bill Self is significantly overrated as a head coach.
I’m a long time UConn fan as well, going back to Chris Smith/Tate George years and I think UConn is going to have another great year, but I don’t get the Karaban talk with being snubbed for awards. He was literally the 3rd/4th option last year. They do a great job of spreading the scoring around and he may get 15 points a game next year, and I don’t believe he will be the first option this year. Now I’m rooting for him, but don’t think he’s a top 5 player in the nation. I believe Solo Ball will be the alpha of this team.
This UConn team will sit btw 10 and 20 through out the year. They will 100% be on the outside looking in…try grey see being ranked third purely out of respect and not because of the talent they have.
I hate to inform you UCONN currently has the #2 recruiting class for 2025. Hurley and UCONN has been destroying the competition the last two seasons with lower rated recruits. Now he is out recruiting Kentucky, UNC etc. Scary!
@@gripriparmwrestling okay, preseason rankings and hype is basically a media and so called expert analytics reason for their existence. The reality is results matter. If you think recruiting 5-Star and 4-star players and a program’s NIL budget is going to result in a National Championship without realizing that the caliber of the coaching staff is more valuable than you haven’t understood why UCONN has been so dominant!
@@dantefazzina9037 you’re an idiot literally none of that came out of my mouth. If you watched the scrimmages I get they are scrimmages they don’t have the talent this year to compete with the top 5 teams. The last two UConn teams were Uber talented tho teams year doesn’t have that and not close. Their lost game will be exposed that’s a fact. And quit getting hyped over nexts years draft class when Kentucky doesn’t have John C any more and Unc hasn’t been a power house in recruiting in years like they used to be. The fact you resorted to talking about 2025 proves my point.
I respect St. John, they were a legacy Big East member and contributed significantly to the early success of the conference. Rick Pitino is a great coach.
Dan Hurley’s probably gonna read these comments in here at night, and have another excuse for UConn to win the National Championship!
Absolutely
Thanks GP for calling out Norlanders Big East hate
Uconn will have one of the best shooting teams in the country. What the 5 spot looks like will determine its March prospects

Let's go Pitino

St. John's will take UConn down
At what? Basketball?
Which says more about St. Johns more than shading UConn.
I'm saying yes, I think St. John's will take UConn down this year, they came close previous years . 🏀

Dan Harley is what makes UConn go not the player
