Most of these plants are net positive on water due to the extreme air conditioning to maintain clean rooms. The water pulled out of the air even in a dry climate would surprise you. Just look at the Intel plants here in Arizona that are also net positive or close to it on water usage.

When she said (1:28) "it's expected to become an urban walkable environment", it should cause people to pay attention. Haven't we learned yet that "urban" almost always leads to problems, especially with drugs, homelessness, and crime? The developers and builders are getting richer while the residents of AZ are facing more crime, much more traffic, and with a much larger tax base, still had their taxes raised. Yes, taxes were raised in this area to pay for schools for the influx of new residents. Where are the gains for that area? There are no gains, just a loss of open spaces, more traffic, more crime and higher taxes. Oh yeah, then there's a little thing called WATER!!! Greed, greed, greed. The developers and builders live elsewhere and the county just sees dollar $ign$, meanwhile everything will disappear if there's no water. Wake up!!!

Phoenix is not far from the ocean, if water becomes a problem it is easily solved by desalination like in Dubai and other desert locations. Plans already exist to build a plant in Mexico and pump water through a pipeline. Although Phoenix is below it's 100 year reserve, if it gets low enough the plant and pipeline will happen.

    • @MarkLost-dq7eo

@@RelativisticVelocity The Mexican government had plans of building but the Mexican people do not want that plant and that becomes another problem. There is a water shortage and most local residents did not want this plant. There isn't much crime in this area but if they make it (1:28) a "urban, walkable environment", it will become a palace with crime. With the large new tax base, taxes still went up. Yes, all of this tax base and taxes still went up. Why? Supposedly to pay for new schools needed for all of the new residents. This has done nothing positive for locals and there's the little issue of water no one wants to talk about.

There were reports a few months ago that production was delayed because they could not find enough traine / educated workers for production. Clearly, this is going to require foreign workers, whether they be Taiwanese, Indian or the millions of tech savvy latins that have recently entered US by the backdoor.
Oh and water, not only for chip production but bathing, lawns, and swimming pools, not just the 80k workers but family members and community infrastructure population. Phx currently uses nearly 50 gal of water per day per individual, far more than even tucson uses.
This "Growth" is occurring in southeast Phx also (Chandler). Water is going to be an issue as well as keeping the lights on as these people will want AC In homes and work.
Then we have the increase heat signature of more AC (and ozone destroying gases), concrete, and asphalt.
