- We had an incredible day at County Q studio in Nashville and the grand finale was this epic jam featuring JD Simo, Greg Koch and Dean Smith.
Thanks to Case Tanner for jumping in on the drums.
Huge thanks to all who came, hung out, played, ate and drank with us. There's no doubt that we will do this again next year.
For those who prefer the less-talk, more-jamming approach, feel free to jump to about 4:45 - Видеоклипы
Thats Me on Drums!
Thanks!!! I wanted to give you credit, but didn't remember your name. Sorry! I'll add it to the description.
casetanner lucky Guy!
nice job holding it down with the bass player, very complimentary indeed sir!
Enjoyed your executive decision before the funky bit :D
you are one blessed drummer to be a part of that!
Mad mad props to the bass player and drummer for locking this down so hard.
Also to JD and Greg for shredding it up :)
For sure. I want to go back and listen to just the bass and drummer again. How could anyone not be up to their best with that behind you? That's like being given a hot stove to cook on.
It’s crazy how nervous Simo is around Greg at first. JD’s a star!
Just about anyone would be, not that jd simo isnt a monster monster player on his own right.. Koch has chops beyond chops and tone for days....
@@christopherhanna5754 Oh yeah. Of course you are correct about Greg Koch. But go watch the Carters Vintage Guitars demo's that JD Simo does. Mostly the one on the "59" Burst called "Red Eye". Then tell me he isn't at least on par with Koch if not passed him. He is amazing and i never heard tone like JD gets out of just guitar and amp. No effects, just the volume and tone pots on his guitars.
Space Alien Koch resided in a different galaxy, man. Koch has some alien voodoo that can’t be achieve by a fine blues man like JD. Koch made Simo sound interesting for once in this clip.
The thing is those guys are amazing, both of them, it’s like two very very interesting peoples talking together. The particularity of greg is that he as a tremendous knowledge of vocabulary lots of different words to say the same thing that’s all , it’s never a competition just mind Blowing discutions
He shouldn't be he is a badass and played his ass off. Greg is kind of a freak of nature. Love both of their music equally for different reasons.
I love it when Razor Ramon comes sit in on drums. Incredible!
Soda came out my nose, when I saw him sit down. I had read your comment maybe, 15 seconds prior. Nice
Word of caution... put your headphones on backwards to appreciate this... That way JD goes in your left ear and Greg gets into your right ear. That will help match the visuals! Nice jam boys, I’d pay to watch that live.
The: “hey did you hear my lick” look.
When music meets comedy, these guys are awesome!!
Two absolute master guitar players totally playing off of each other and complementing each other without getting in each others' way. JD's soloing starting around 8:10 is INSANE. Actually, ALL of the solos are NUTS!!!
having fun is the best part of a sweet jam like this
Absolutely freaking awesome. I love these two guys and this video proves why. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Pure magic when these two get together.
Now that was a thing of beauty right there people!!
This a hell of a jam session!!!!
Dig Jams like this need more of them. Awesome
Was that the same cameraman who filmed the Blair Witch !!!
Killer jam, two masters throwing it down! Simo's freshest dropped today! Get it now! Rise and Shine
Awesome sounding players and awesome sounding amps! 👍
Wow, awesome, totally awesome!!
Damn! Good shit! Both great players. Great rhythm section. Fun jam
Epic indeed. Thx for sharing ;)
Didn't know Greg would be there. They are great! That Tele sounds amazing.
MERCI GregSimo and JdKoch, and Metropoulos. They taste and courtly life of the time. This is the good side of internet
Awesome video man. Thanks for sharing. Thats all what music is...
The two true giants of our time ladies and gentleman. I almost wept.
weep on
kudos to the rhythm section for laying down such a solid foundation
Wow crazy good by all!!!!
What`s cool that this is not a shredding contest. Just nice calm tunes and scales.
That's because real musicians don't allow their egos to take the place of making good music.

my fav impomtu jam IVE ever seen and I'm 66
@@yarygork2334 how old are you now?
Deux maîtres bourrés de feeling! 💖
Video really shows the cleaner side of the metroplex. Both are great and I can't wait to get my metro but you better believe I'm coming for one of those supers! 😊
Wow JD has that killer tele tone!! What an awesome jam!!!
thanks for that
This Video I will keep on file for a long time. Two of my favorite player's along with the best Whitfill guitars on the market. And my lucky ass ended up with the Pink Strat that makes number 4 Whitfill for me.
So good
Very cool!!!
Man that was some fine playin I wanna tell ya! Sounds like everybody had
A pretty awesome time as well. Hats off to the pickers sorry for not knowing all of the
players names. But you all sounded top shelf all the way! Really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant
That second jam starting at 11:45 is really something. What a gas watching these two monsters have fun.
Du pure kiffé de les voir ensemble 👌
I have never heard a Metro-Plex played that clean and with a Tele. This turned out to be a fun video to watch and a great demo for the Metro-Plex. My buddy has a full stack with a Metropoulos 45/100 in his house, sounds fantastic, but really made me aware that I need to practice a lot more. Every nuance of my playing was crystal clear, including my mys-steaks.
This is why the guitar was created. Been listening-watching this since it was uploaded. There should be a part 2. Maybe after Covid?
timeless.
9:59 was the coolest most masterful subtle lick I’ve ever heard.
Charles - pigs in slop will NEVER be as happy as you appear to be watching JD and Greg play you wares. Good stuff!!
Amazing picking techniques . Thanks for this Jem. Sub'd.
This should have a million views
That bassist is solid as fuck. He held it together while those 2 got weird. Fuckin love it.
When they both started with the slide it was a wtf moment!!! Wild
I've been up in the air about what amp to get The super the metro or a different build from a guy named M****n, But these last too video's are what i needed to hear, I'll have a new super plex this Friday now that I've been able to see the head showcased in this forum .. Thanks for the Hard work and excellent music uploads George
Master Koochenheimerschmidt restrained himself from deploying his finishing move: the chicken pickin' from hell.
Listen .....Gregory is a Monster on the chicken pickin.....but make no mistake JD is prob just as good .....he just doesn't break it out as much. Anyway these two are great together in my opinion.
masters at play
soo so so so so tastey!!!
The cameraman was giving me a headache but the players sound amazing!
it’s been a minute, but I agree, acknowledging that if I had the task of videotaping these living legends at plAy, all you’d see is, the floor SPINNING BENEATH MY FEET!
The audio was phenomenal. The video made me dizzy.
greg is the best- an absolute beast
I think I'm most interested in your Synergy (MTS) module. it does really seem to breathe like an old amp . this video was outstanding. great sound
I predict 20 million views after this goes where it surely is headed and thats
VIRAL!! like a good kinda musical flu!!!! no rules genious thats teaching a 45 yr guitar player new tricks:) thank you! good clean fun!!! that kid n the Tele is just too good at his age. how did he do it? The wandering Pillsburys are amazing. Wander on guys!
fawesome!!
Amazing, JD even plays slide with his empty Coke vial too. Then Greg comes in with JD’s other empty Coke vial!
We're proud to have JD Simo as a TrueFire Educator! Learn how to his songs and more in his guitar course, Psych Blues, which includes video lessons, tab, notation, jam tracks, and more: truefire.com/c1345
That tele sure has a sweet sound!
I want to go next time! lol
Greg Koch meets his match haha THAT WAS JUST TOO GOOOOOOD!
Jam starts around 4:55
One of the few jams/improvisations that actually work(ed) 😉
Danny Gatton would have loved to have sat in on that head cutting jam. Great stuff boys.
fudh
good guitar man
Never try to outdo the master Koch on the "funny noise" side of playing :D - so much fun - great groove and playing - it's what they do between their leads that's cool - super groovy rhythm playing from both - JD is stunning in his own right and can play a mean slide.
I think JD's time is at another level - GK's time is the weakest part of his skillset. Not that I don't love GK - he's a force of nature!
I want a pink Strat now he just made that guitar his special lady and soulmate, now i get the pink guitar and that slide man wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whirlwind Jones on lead camera, everybody, Whirlwind Jones!
Joy Joy Joy
IMHO Charles Whitfill is making the best guitars on the market right now. Here are two great examples.
dats a heavy ring to swing around on top of playing guitar! only one question remains: what guitars are they playing?
I'm blessed to know hometown hero Greg Koch. If he couldn't play a note, he'd still be exemplary. I have some clips up of him around Milwaukee over the years. Check them out.
Kooky.
love the clown lick ... lol
12:41 the only documented time that Greg Koch LOL'd. hahahaha
1:20 Who is that and could we have the whole lecture, please? Thanks!
2 cream of the crop players !
This is an awesome video !..I love watching both...I understand Mr. Koch going Alpha in this, but, JD is an awesome player as well, and can go toe-to-Toe with the Best...Mr. Koch is awesome, as usual, but JD can easily play equal or better...just my opinion.
Webb!!!
jd the fat Brando!!! love himmm
what axe greg playing?
Well let's see.... it's a Whitfill guitars showcase, two ace players show up amongst enthousiast amateurs, what guitars will they be playing....??
To be honest those guys were probably hating the tone. You take two 100 watt plexi clones and point them inwards in a small circle like your playing acoustic guitars. Not really what they were made for. Nonetheless they are both amazing guitar players and were able to play through thie inconvenience.
I like it, but man, I _do_ wish the audio channels hadn't gotten switched around. It would have been so easy to fix this in post....
I was thinking the same. kinda strange for a professional studio to miss...
Hardest thing to watch was seeing that beauty of a les Paul not be played
Yep that was were it's all about.
Not the point of the jam at all
Are you familiar with the StoomBLAY?
Amazing jam but I was distracted by the girl at 6:39 Anyone know who she is?
Leave the slide to JD
Luv the buzz from all the single coils
I'm glad I'm not tripping...
got dem same ol' queasy slightly psychotic blues agin mama
its almost a Koch Off!
I love JD but man, the big K is the GOAT
They both are. Both different players. Go and check out some of the live gigs that J.D. did with the Don Kelley Band in Nashville and tell me he isn't just as good. Keeping in mind he never chicken picked, all that is alternate picking country licks played at the same dexterity as those who chicken pick.
CHALL-OOOONGE !!!
They play purposely as if drunk.... this is astounding 💥😆💥 x
Good Stuff.... some sick ass sour notes...... brilliant !
Every one should know The Stumble...anyway cool. Koch is nuts.
First! And great video but for some reason it keeps cutting out.
All you need is Jeff Beck to show up and play 2nd bass guitar. Insane players.
😩
simo on right and koch on left
We and then we and then we Where's the part we went to the bathroom 😂 All that eating and drinking.
a very brief Hawaii visit at 10:12 wheres my Matai? the camerman drank it with several others......
