    I agree completely about the cleaning of coins. I judge each one, if they have a pleasing colour when I dig them I keep them as they are but will clean some as I see fit👍

    Nice condition. Pottery collecting is great fun and collecting a bit of silver between the pots is a great additional benefit!

      Thanks Cath! Yes you are right but in your case you don't even need the (roman) silver! 😁 I had a little go "you know where" today it was all very depressing lots of little holes everywhere... ☹️ poor me! 😂

    Great find Alexander, my first Denarius was Sabina Hadrians wife. Absolutely agree with you on the cleaning of coins, iv had siver coins unidentifiable because of heavy minerals in the soil. Keep the great vlogs coming.🙂

    Quite right about the cleaning, Ally. It's personal choice and the only time it "matters" is when it comes to sale value if you intend to sell it, in which case any cleaning will detract, sometimes hugely, from its value. Cracking coin and looking forward to the "5 Best" videos.

    Yet another stunning find Alexander. It is a RIC 173, RSC 335, Sear 3476, minted 125-128 AD. You are certainly jumping backwards and forwards between the centuries with your recent discoveries. You may be more careful in that field than others have been and consequently reaping the rewards.

    • @HolzhammerLite
      @HolzhammerLite  2 года назад +1

      Its been done particularly by a couple of careful detectorists but you never know and its a nice place to be! Thanks for the info John much appreciated! What does the "RIC" stand for and is it standard? Hope all well!

    • @John-re2qw
      @John-re2qw 2 года назад

      @@HolzhammerLite RIC, "Roman Imperial Coins", is a ten volume work by Edward Sydenham and Harold Mattingly which covers 30 BC to 491 AD. RSC is "Roman Silver Coins" a five volume work by Herbert Seaby, with the last volume completed by David Sear, which covers from the first Roman silver coins of the third century BC to the reign of Romulus Augustus at the end of the fifth century AD.
      All is fine here with a cool and wet end to winter.

    Hi Alexander, what a beautiful coin, even better cleaned up. Regarding all my finds no matter what they are, I just know whether it's best to leave as is or give them a little clean. Your comments make sense, as some people would have it that it's sacrilege to clean any coin, be it ancient or modern. We're all different!! ATB.

    If I lived in such an area, I would be out there all day every day! I love the history and I live old coins. It must be very exciting to find a little bit of silver that was held by a Roman soldier or merchant two millinia ago!

    Terrific to see these Roman coins with so much detail , yep cleaning is a personal thing but if you intend to sell your find you will probably get highest value for as is.
