  • Decided on a bit of a re-brand to re-iterate what this Metal Detecting Channel is all about and to leave all really EPIC stuff to ‪@HolzHammerSagas‬ !
And you will still get the same first class metal detecting but maybe just a bit differently to other metal detecting channels you are used to - all will be explained in the Video!
    All the Best

@@HolzhammerLite I was going to mention that a friend of mine put some supposed denari in an electrolysis bath and stripped them of silver, as they were plated fakes. But I guessed you are wise to this. The raven brooch was another case in point. How often do these kinds of items come up looking so good? Not so often. Thanks for making watching videos. And BTW, I was one of the people that abandoned your Crispus monologue, but only because I was in a remote town with a bad connection and it froze halfway through. Had to wait until I was back in a proper town. I did the same research myself when I got an almost perfect Fausta, and was thrilled with that mysterious story, too. Someone should write a script for it. Fausta died after a particularly hot sauna, whether to rid herself of Crispus' child, or the result of a subtle assassination no one knows. The best thing about finding Roman coins is the stories one learns when researching the Emperors. So, I welcome any further monologues, and sorry if my timing out made you think this viewer was bored.

Delightful landscape scenery with those gorgeous English countryside fields! I always get excited when I see a new video from one of your channels. I live in the Louisville, Kentucky area and the oldest former plantation in the state (Oxmoor Farm), dating back to the 1780's - which is located in Jefferson County (the county where Louisville is...) had recent excavations done by the University of Louisville, which turned up finds from the 18th century such as coins, tools, etc. As interesting as watching the news clips of the finds was - I find watching you digging up Roman era artifacts and even older Celtic even more intriguing! Good hunting - Cheers!

Love the paper shuffling at the "news desk"😅 Why do they do that? However, you forgot to press your finger to your ear as if the director was talking to you in the earpiece (something you only ever see "journalists" in films do - real newsreaders don't). Anyway, wishing you continued success, whatever the channel's called, and the rationale behind the split is, and always has, been sound.

those deep iron old nails are devilish,,,i too dig those uncertain tones sometimes...just to see......it must be the mix of metal they used to produce nails that falses our machines into thinking its good. some of the roman boots nails are so tiny. im currently studying my old farmers land to try and locate that hoard. my farmer told me that on his old maps there was something showing in front of an old tree..he said look there....so i did,,, my friend chuck found his first ever silver roman,,, then i found a silver penny of henry 4th,,the king of bollingbrooke. so my farmers hunch about the tree was spot on. 3 days ago i had an appointment at my brand new finds office,,,i picked up that silver henry 4th ,,alongwith a handful of roman coins,,, part of a roman bracelett and some other bits...and handed in my recently found silliqua......i then drove to my farmer and gave him all the finds from museum and reports....for without his kindness allowing me on his land ,,id not have found them. then he gave me more land,,he was chuffed.

oh look, Alexander is also currently dealing with a crusty coin that he was forced to indirectly spit on before .....and even electrolyzing it came to his mind (me still thinking about this)
yesterday on a totally not medieval field nearby: 4th hole a hammie (english again kinda naturally - Hen. III longcross) and me deciding to, yes, disrespectfully use spittle on it - few minutes later rain set in, quickly intensified and flushed me from the field 🙃
right now I'm sitting here in front of the screen, holding a penny with a, on both sides, superencrusted legend in my hand and frequently eyeballing this 9v battery next to me,...hmmm....
haven't you already made a video about cleaning really bad looking silvers ? like those really bad ones with the black silver-oxide crust on it we call "Hornsilber" here ? need to watch it again ! the quite uncirculated looking Henry and the cross+ most orbs, I already freed but the legend is the worst crusted ever ! if it decides to stain my coin for much longer I gonna spit on it again just out of spite !

wait, Hornsilber is soluble in ammonia !
weren't the Romans collecting urin all the time to get ammonia 🤔
maybe I should be even more disrespectful towards the crust and not only spitting on it 🍺😂

Do it Feldgeist - it deserves it!!!! I am very careful with electrolysis and experts do reckon most silver can take it though I do wonder with those very fragile hammered coins.... sometimes you just got to face the fact that it just may not clean but good luck with yours!!!! Hope all well!

@@HolzhammerLite all hope is forlorn on this coin and I just severly mutilated His Majesty, utterly destroyed most of the legend furthermore
take note; if you ever come across a slightly bend grimey coin, then properly clean it first before glowing it !
otherwise (I guess) the chloride, maybe aided by other salts accumulated from the soil, might act as a flux and turning the grime into somewhat akin to glazed slag
it looked so good and just a bit crusty at first, even shinier after bathing in my very personal "ammonia solution" for a while and now old Henry is almost toast ! literally looking like a legit burned coin !
electrocuting it now would just result in complete succesful regicide, me fears
poor dirty hammy (who still deserved all of this !!!)
but how do you like my new avatar from the hunt before, that I had to put up for "educational reasons" ?
almost done with cleaning this mid-sized mount and lost way less than 1% of the remaining gilding - that's a definite success (gold is sitting very weakly on the bronze and the mineralized fine-grime was veeery resilient !)
ostrogothic import relic from the later half of the 5th and most likely the oldest example of a cross with anthropomorphic face-arms you will ever see (bc real germanic anthropomorphism just started around that time)
the great granddaddy mask-cross of our popular viking ones from the 10th 👌
      happy huntin and cheerio !

Hey great video as ever Alex, and liking the new 🎬Branding 📽 idea... 📣 Here's my (rookie) take on 'Reactivity 2': Yes, I totally agree with you here! I find that lowering to R2 def. improves 'potential depth' but the signals, as you say, are much less reliable and, somehow, more complex. There seems to be much more chance of niggling little (false?) iron tones etc. and it's a less predictable experience all round... Having said that, I do try to run at R2 for at least 1/2 the session, when the field's nice and quiet. But...: It sounds to me like your hearing and 'form/skills' are next level - so if you can weedle out these really faint ones at R2.5, then you're prob. best sticking there... 🙏

I agree with you entirely Bobby - I may lower it still but only if I feel i cant get anything at 2.5! Hope all well and thanks for all that! All the Best, Alexander

@@HolzhammerLite Hey thanks Alex, and reassuring we agree on this 🙏 - New permissions coming thick & fast now, so confident I can keep away from the 'bun fights' at the big rallies... 🤣
