We were able to walk these streets in the misty rain with all the leaves on the trees fallen, in March 2020. Thank you for the vision so we may now easily revisit.
@@ConnollyCove The trip to Coney Island, with the stops along the way. Down the Ards Peninsula, across on the ferry and driving down the single track roads, on and over to St John's Point lighthouse. It was anticipated for years, and was thoroughly enjoyed. Van's fond recollections of his childhood trips are still to be seen.
My heart hurts so much watching this video.I left Belfast over 45 years ago,I lived not far from here on the Clonduff estate just off the Castlereagh Rd and this brings back great memories thank you for that 👍🎸
Hi Robert, we're glad this video helped to bring back memories for you although sorry about it hurting your heart a little. We hope you can come visit soon!
Hey you are keeping me awake watching this! This is an excellent video. Why would the N Ir. Tourist board make a video like this when you have done all the work for them? This is of a very high standard. Well done.
lol Tom - your too funny :-) Thanks for the compliment! We are doing to have to do triple shits to cover everywhere you have been. Must meet up for a tea sometime :-)
Hi CC you are hot on my heels and you do quality work and go to all the best places, with a few exceptions I haven't really ventured much out of Belfast. My stuff is more cup price, a tad slap dash, spontaneous, hope for the best, it'll be alright in the night! I love exploring the 'hidden ignored,' places and trying to show people what is there right under their feet almost tripping them up! Unfortuantely many people want to remain 'blind' about N Ireland. They have the notion that if it is here it must be rubbish. Game of Thrones knocked that daft idea well flat! Hey keep 'er lit. Great to see that there are orhers like yourself well on board about 'trumpeting' what we have here. Best wishes Tom
I have to say - I was one of the people "blind" to what was around me - 100%. The kids got me out...and wow..I rediscovered a long lost passion for exploring and visiting historic sites. My favourites are castles - actually anything built with (real) stone...medieval times..it just amazes me that buildings still stand today. Places like Dunluce Castle - blow me away...I would be there right this minute if I could lol :-)
There are a lot of defended tower houses, sometimes refered to as 'castles,' all around the Ards peninisula coast away down as far as Ardglass. You can always video the outside but they are always locked up -another wasted opportunity. Surely there has to be someone local who would be happy to volunteer to open up and mind these places for a few hours on a Sat or Sun afternoon! Carrickfergus is an amazing place. Probably the best preserved Norman castle in Ireland but visited by so few in comparison to even the broken down Castles down South. Trim is bigger and has massive long walls but it is a shell compared to Carrickfergus yet tourists pour into it. We are not working to full potential up here. Maybe people are still afraid to come.
I think you hit the name on the head - people are still afraid - it takes a long time for bad news to be forgotten....I see searches online for "is northern Ireland safe"!! So people still have that concern - funny - I was in Carrickfergus maybe 2 weeks ago - 1st time!! Shocking I was never in it before - totally agree with what your saying - its an amazing Castle compared to what is left at Trim...I think it will come...just more time...we can enjoy all these places to ourselves at the moment :-) Thanks for the tip about the Ards Peninisula - I did a brief run over there - but will definitely look into it much more.
Hablar pronto :-)
Knowing a little more about the life and management of our favorite singer is gratifying and pleasurable.👏🏻😍❤
Glad you enjoyed the video :)

Excellent set up for fans of Van Morrison - really worth the walk....brilliant idea!
Too many plastic bins in the street. Try the weekend or after they have removed the trash.
