Oh my goodness... The Cobra 148 GTL DX!!! Has to be one of the best radios of all time. Most regrettably I got rid of mine to fund a Yaesu 897D about 20 years ago. Thanks for bringing this old beauty to the channel Jez. Keep up the good work. 73
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I'm wondering which battery you're using when portable Jez? I've seen 12V and 14.4V rechargeable batteries readily available, but I'm guessing most rigs designed for a 13.8V supply might still work fine on a 12V battery (I've seen freshly charged LifePO4 12V batteries output closer to 13V in my experience, even when keying). And follow-up question if you use a 14.4V battery; what do you use to charge it? 14.4V chargers for power tools seem to be readily available. 73 de Dav
How embarrassing call yourself a ham.. do you not know the clarifier is for aligning incoming signals on frequency and the kc shift is for aligning yourself on outgoing transmission, ok so you got there in the end but for the life of me i cannot understand why for the sake of upsetting you others haven't also corrected you on this issue.. it shows how ball less other folks are.. smh.
Maybe you should think before you post. You are the one that is incorrect, and you should have done some research first. On this CB, the 'coarse' acts as a VFO to shift RX and TX frequency, the 'fine' or 'clarifier' or RIT, (Receive Independent of Transmit) fine tunes the receive, especially on SSB to resolve the voice to make it sound as human as possible. Do *you* call yourself a ham? In any event, shame on you. There's no need for you to be so rude.
Very brave to go out in that cold weather! Very nice anyhow! 👍🏽😎 73 from a cold sweden -7 and clear sky.
Nice radio Jez good to see it’s still working 👍

Hi i use a 3s 5ah lipo its 11.1v but its more closer to 12v and works fine on my radios used it on my ft817 and made a copy to the states on 5w
THANKS JEZ...
👍😉
Why are you outside with the radio on the edge of a barrier ? Couldn't you of found somewhere abit warmer ?
I’m at the top of a car park near where I work
Just found one at a garage sale but I need a 3 plug power supply. Does this unit take a 2 wire or 3 wire line or can I use either one?
I had a number of these radios. They were all three pin two wire. I would be surprised if yours were any different.
Hook it to your wall 😂
Get it away for a service be a good radio then
The mk 1's rule🌚
138 xlr is a better radio
Send it to George Donaldson
