Thank you for mentioning The Collected Schizophrenias. I had been avoiding it because my mother was schizophrenic, and growing up with that was.....difficult. But I am going to read it now, and I think it will be good for me.
I'm so late to a whole bunch of Best of 2019 videos, partly because I need to sit down and have another tab open with the library catalogue. Finally making the time! Miracle Creek was one I missed in 2019 and need to get to. It sounds SO good and hearing you talk about it again has really motivated me. Same with the Attica Locke. I had a galley and never got around to it. Ack!
I brought a lot of e-books this year, "The fire on high" made my top ten, while "Heaven,my home" made my top least fav. Most surprising book was "Patsy", just love that book can't stop recommending and gave a few as gifts.
On the Come up has been on my shelf for a year now. I rated the Hate U Give 5 stars so I've hesitated to pick it up until now. Very cool that there's a Spotify playlist to go with the book. I'm now motivated to pick this one up in 2020!
When you said the name Tana French and Slow Burn I'm in for Jane Harper who I've never heard of. I'm always on the lookout for someone who writes character-driven Mysteries yet with a satisfying end. I'm enjoying your Channel
I read The Collected Schizophrenias because of your recommendation earlier this year, and I am so grateful to you for that! It was also one of my favorite reads of the year because I learned so much from it and still think about many aspects of her essays months later. It made me think differently and, I think, gave me the ability to think critically about things like involuntary hospitalization. I also really enjoyed the essay about spiritualism and all the different beliefs about seeing visions and how that could help or hurt depending on the person and the context. Thank you so much for the rec!
I don't usually read YA contemporaries, but you completely sold me on With the Fire on High -- that sounds SO good. Even though our tastes are different, I really enjoy your videos. =)
I so loved Heaven, My Home. My hold on Force of Nature came through rom my library today. And I just went and looked, and Your House will Pay was totally available, so I have just borrowed that too. Thank you!!!
I loved The Dutch House! I listened to the audio narrated by Tom Hanks which was awesome. I had the people's History of Heaven on my list so I am anxious to read it after your review!
Okay, you convinced me. I was scared to read On The Come Up because I loved her first book so much. I am saving a bunch of good ones for vacation in a few weeks.
So happy to see The Collected Schizophrenias on your top list, it's my favorite book of 2019! I've been so close to reading Miracle Creek and haven't gotten to it, pushing it up my list because your description makes it sounds very interesting!
I don’t usually add almost all of the books on people’s favorites list but that’s what I just did.. the way you talk about these books makes me believe that I should definitely read them and will probably like them a whole lot. So thank you for these recommendations 💕
The only two books I've read off this video are your two five-stars! I'm so excited because that means I'll probably like your other recs. Will now binge your other videos!
I read four of your top ten based on your recommendations throughout the year. I liked A People's History, The Dutch House and Force of Nature. Thanks for taking the time to do these reviews. Have a great 2020.
So many of these books are ones I want to read. Many of them have been on my Scribd saved list for a long time. I have a lot of good things to look forward to (hopefully) getting to in 2020! :) Definitely prioritizing The Collected Schizophrenias, Dominicana, and This House Will Pay.
So looking forward to reading a peoples history of heaven and force of nature in the future. Sounds like a good year of reading. Hope you have an awesome 2020 reading year as well.
I just bought A People's History of Heaven based on your recommendation (somehow I came across your review video randomly a few days ago). I wanted something a little more positive and uplifting for my final read of the year, and I'm really looking forward to reading this one to finish off 2019! My favorite book of the year was without a doubt Cantoras by Carolina de Robertis. Just got me so good, and I've thought about it every day since I read it.
The Dutch House is on my list of best books of the year too. Others are Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton Mr Loverman by Bernardine Everisto The Man Who Saw Everything by Deborah Levy The Lost Man by Jane Harper. It was the best thriller I read in 2018. Loved Heaven, My Home.
I've read The Dutch House. It was definitely a slow burn. I found it difficult to get through in the beginning, and was most frustrated with Maeve for her obsession with and inability to move on from her past which kept her brother from moving on after being disappointed in life. Though I put the book down for a couple of weeks when I picked it up again I finished it in a day. It's definitely well written, but not a book I really enjoyed due to my frustrations with Maeve/Danny.
I've only read the Jane Harper books but I think I'll pick up A People's History of Heaven. I want to read more books by Indian authors so that seems like a good place to start :)
My favorite books I read this year are: 1. Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty 2. To the People Food is Heaven by Audra Ang 3. The Unlikely Adventures of the Shergill Sisters by Balli Kaur Jaswal 4. House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin Craig 5. How To Be a Movie Star by TJ Klune 6. Storm of Locusts by Rebecca Roanhorse 7. Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky 8. Shameless by Nadia Bolz-Weber 9. Pet by Akwaeke Emezi 10. The Girl in Red by Christina Henry
If you're wondering where to start with her, honestly any of the ones I mention in the video work. But read the synopsis and grab whatever interests you the most
Thank you for mentioning The Collected Schizophrenias. I had been avoiding it because my mother was schizophrenic, and growing up with that was.....difficult. But I am going to read it now, and I think it will be good for me.
I hope it helps 💙💙
I wait ALL YEAR for this! Thank you, Rincey!
Thank you for watching and supporting 💙💙
I still haven't gotten round to On The Come Up or With the Fire on High but I keep hearing such great things about them!
The way you describe books is mesmerizing to me. I always love your choices and I’ve needed some good fiction recommendations. Thanks!
I appreciate you saying this because to me I feel rambly and incoherent 😅

The Collected Schizophrenias was my Staff Pick of the Year at the bookstore where I work!
Also check out the tenth muse by Catherine Chung which is one of my favourites from this year, apart from the ones you mentioned.
Your House Will Play sounds intriguing, thanks for the rec!

"again, time, what is it?" Such a great comment. Wonderful video, thank you.

Thank you for sharing that! I hadn't heard of that book at all
The Dutch House is on my list of best books of the year too. Others are
Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton
Mr Loverman by Bernardine Everisto
The Man Who Saw Everything by Deborah Levy
The Lost Man by Jane Harper. It was the best thriller I read in 2018.
Loved Heaven, My Home.
Thanks for adding these books, I will check them out also.
Oo have you read Girl Woman Other or just Mr Loverman? (I'm wondering where to start with Everisto)
I've read The Dutch House. It was definitely a slow burn. I found it difficult to get through in the beginning, and was most frustrated with Maeve for her obsession with and inability to move on from her past which kept her brother from moving on after being disappointed in life. Please do a review on The Lost Man! I'd love to hear your thoughts on it
I've only read the Jane Harper books but I think I'll pick up A People's History of Heaven. I want to read more books by Indian authors so that seems like a good place to start :)

If you're wondering where to start with her, honestly any of the ones I mention in the video work. But read the synopsis and grab whatever interests you the most
