Most spirits are deeply connected to the environment, and in this case, due to the river being heavily polluted, the painted lady was basically powerless, that's the reason she emerged once the river was cleaned up.
I love the relationship between Sokka and Katara: Bicker and rag on each other everyday, but when things get real, they have each other's back to the end.
This. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen Spirited Away but I always remember that if a spirit is tied to a location, that location’s condition determines the power of the spirit.
my favorite lore about Sokka's master is that he was branded a traitor like Jhong Jhong but they stopped trying to capture him because he would always defeat whoever they sent even if it was an army.
Little detail you may have missed. When Appa has a purple tongue and is "sick", its shown that it just colors his tongue. Now, the missed detail that I rarely see people get? Appa played along and pretended to be sick! He is far smarter and more aware than he gets credit for.
I love Piandaos teaching style. It's far more important to teach someone how to visualize and tap into their inner creativity in whatever form it takes. It makes learning the actual techniques much easier and sticks longer.
I get why it was easy for sokka to feel the way he did here, but since the very beginning its been obvious that he is a vital part of the team. He is the idea guy (who makes most of the plans), and the leader; episodes like jet and the desert, just to name 2 shows that.
How does the desert episode show sokka having ideas or being a leader?? He is high on cactus juice the entire episode being nothing more then a nuisance to the task at hand. Katara has the idea to follow stars, Katara keeps everyone level headed...... Like you would have a point about sokka just not that episode that is the absolute worst episode to use to try and prove that point lol
@@AshCox-u2k Those who have watched the series multiple times like I have get what I'm trying to say, I sometimes blend the library and the desert together, which was the groundwork for the day of black sun, that was vital part to endgame, but good reply though.
@@fsociety7494 yes you are the only one who has watched the series multiple times......... Bit full of yourself there don't you think, instead of stating that you said the wrong episode lol your comment says the desert but you expect people to read your mind to understand you can't distinguish between the episodes trying to pass it off that people should know what you think being different to what you actually said
@@AshCox-u2k jesus christ, I see you are one of those on the internet. Although I spoke in generalities, you want to pick of pieces, fine. The list of episodes that present the original point is damn near the whole show. Instead of understanding the point, as obviously someone who has watched the series, its i'm gonna jump at an opportunity to get at someone. I was trying to not present any spoilers and made the statement to viewers of the reaction (who most likely, besides seeing the show alot themselves, have watch reactions to it), not the reactors., but good for you, you feel great in feeling you got the upper hand. All good.
17:33 A theory I think helps justify the Painted Lady showing up after the fact is that we know the environment and the spirit world are very much linked. And maybe the Painted Lady wasn’t able to come help the village because of the pollution.
There was another reaction channel that had a couple reacting to Avatar that gained notoriety by literally tearing Sokka down. The guy was in favor of telling his girlfriend that Sokka is indeed important. However the girlfriend said, and I quote, "Sokka is not useful. He is a burden to the group and I will die on this hill" They had to turn off comments on almost every video because I assume the internet viciously retaliated.
For Hiro's training... Don't forget he is a kung fu master... Still, he is impressive as f! I wonder how my friend, a former French champion of Kung fu would compete against him, I have to ask him next time 🤔
They've never legit stated it verbatim in show but yeah they've inferred it's mostly genetic. We've seen children inherit bending from parents and even twins where only one is a bender. Katara might be a "muggleborn" of sorts but likely had some waterbending ancestors. Sokka just was not born to be a bender. Also from a writing stand point it makes Sokka's significance to Team Avatar and the show so much weaker if he were a bender. He is the living proof in this world with super humans, that your own gifts can help you stand toe to toe with anyone even if you don't have powers.
Perez is watching/ has watched (depending on their schedule) Gravity Falls with Kelvin. As of now, they've released their reaction to more than half of season 2.
Why are reactors so dumb she couldn't do anything because the spirit is connected to the damn river what's so hard it's so easy to put two and two together the only reactors who actually understood it was yaboyroshi

the fire nation is also not the most spiritual place in the world, that might have an impact too
That "thank you" always chokes me up.

Siblings.
“Maybe we can clean the river!” has lived rent free in my head since 2007 😂
The river is polluted that’s why she disappeared ppl never make that connection

Yup she was trapped then she only became free once it was cleaned which is why she says thank you to Katara ^^
Pollution hurts nature spirits. That's not just an Eastern belief, that's pretty much in every western myth too.
I love how even when fighting Sokka, Piandao still takes the time to compliment his swordsmanship. He knows a good fighter when he sees one.
Some of the stories Piandao has... I wouldn't describe his life as quiet. Dude is basically John Wick of the Avatar world.
Now I want Keanu Reeves to play him in the live action show. :)
@@mori1bund that would go so absurdly hard
Sokka's Master is my fave episode of Avatar. So good.
Watching this now after having watched Frieren, I appreciate Katara wanting to stop and help the village even if they fall behind schedule
I think the lesson of Piandao is that there is a difference between someone who wants to know vs. someone who wants to learn.
my favorite lore about Sokka's master is that he was branded a traitor like Jhong Jhong but they stopped trying to capture him because he would always defeat whoever they sent even if it was an army.
10:10 i live for how Cara pronounced "oil" here 😭
I would argue, taking care of Momo is the most important job.
0:03 Cara making gang signs from da hooood!

You're right about the Pai Sho tile. Its a symbol of the order of the White Lotus, the secret society that Iroh belongs to.
the guy that reminded you of uncle was the shop keeper that sells weapons. That guy looks like Uncle lol

love this reaction, you guys are amazing
Love ya'll reactions to this!
Imagine the old monks running as fast as Aang.
lol
I'm missing the Azula hair already!
I think The Painted Lady _IS_ the river. She is the spirit of the river so when the river was polluted she was sick and couldn't help them.

Here's my second proposal for the two of you to react to "The Quintessential Quintuplets". Hope you read me! Thx for the vids!
I hope you guys carry on and watch Legend of Korra afterwards
Always wondered but why couldn't Sokka bend? Is there reason behind it?
cuz in avatar you either born with it or you can't do it

Perez is watching/ has watched (depending on their schedule) Gravity Falls with Kelvin. As of now, they've released their reaction to more than half of season 2.
Guys she most likely wasnt able to do anything since the river was poluted. She was probably poisoned and dying in the spirit world ffs
The painted lady is one of the few episodes I don't like, but it's really important for the character developpement. Sokka's master is in my top 3.
Bro don't wear white shirt we can't see the animation

They thought the spirits is like superbeing who can take care of things by themselves
