      I have the same thought. But Texas is too hot for me, so I need to find another place with milder climate... that is not plagued by commies and marxists.

    Where I live, the property tax is 1.65%
    BUT state income tax is at 5.5%

    as a western Canadian i have been always drawn to Texas i don't know why maybe its the name maybe its something else... i never even been able to visit Texas... but right now the way the world is i am seriously considering moving there
    because to me Texas is the best

      Every part of Texas has extreme weather of some kind and since they started different types of drilling' we now have earthquakes and sink holes. Small earthquakes but those and sinkholes are starting to show up a lot.

      Im fromcali and i lived in texas.... Neverhave i everbeen as horrifiedwhen i heardabout the tonados on thenews..
      And it hit in north. West and south dallas, when i lived in EAST dallas... Ivenever been sooohappy to get back tothe mountains

    Dana, tell them it's horrible and don't move here under any circumstances! We're damn scared that the interlopers, especially those from California, will turn our state in the hell holes from which they came.

      Please come to Texas! We love transplants. Lots of job opportunities, higher education is a definite plus. A lot of entertainment options. Plus it’s now a melting pot which is wonderful means more restaurants choices, cultural enlightenment and if you are into religion a lot of options there too. Plus no state taxes! Winters are mild also! Win win!!!

    Moving to W Texas in a couple months from California! With the cost of housing here, it doesn't make sense to live in this state unless your income is in the 6 figure range. Even if you live in a decent area, your spending all your money to simply just live. You will have no money left to enjoy yourself in this state.

    I'm moving my family of 5 from Seattle to the Dallas metro area before this year is over. Can't wait.

      Dont move to SA it sucks, the traffic is horrible, every major road is under construction and its expensive to live in safe parts, theres lots of gangs.

    Love FORT WORTH, more laid back slower paced large city. DALLAS is busy, crowed, very fast paced. There are Great, Good and Poor neighbourhoods in both cities. Great smaller towns around Fort Worth to the west, ALEDO, WEATHERFORD nice rolling land. Love TEXAS

    I know you’re conservative but I’m *so glad* you mentioned the fact that liberals live here too! And no, contrary to what some say they’re not all from out of state either. I’m 35, a born & raised Texan, the child of two conservatives & a proud, card carrying liberal. If anything I’d say you’d be surprised who the liberals are. I’ve met so many “good old boys & girls” who love their country music & bbq & vote Democrat. Lol. As much as the rest of the nation may put Texas into this little red box, Texas is a very large, very diverse place full of people from different backgrounds with different ideas. Great video by the way. 👍🏻

    I live in CA and have considered moving to TX for awhile. My hesitation has been the weather. Thank you for informative video. Property tax appears high, but considering no state tax and lower cost of living, possibly free college tuition will offset that. I think more details on crime rate would make you video more complete.

    Conservatives are always way way way way more attractive than liberals are. Funny fact I’m a conservative myself, but somehow found this to be accurate. I’m a conservative from NY but I’m moving this year to Texas..

    Plus side of high property taxes is that they are County and City based and fund schools, etc in your community. Meanwhile, your income taxes go to state capital and go out from there to politicians pet projects, graft, etc.

    Yea state income tax is like $82 bucks in my state. The state income tax is not a big deal in most states.

    Property taxes high but no state income tax and houses are way more affordable - I’m willing to take the hit. California I’m buying a crack den for $800,000 while $500,000 gets me a beautiful (maybe more than) a starter home.

    Info I have found indicates that property tax rates in rural areas can be 1.5% or less. Is that possible or am I reading things wrong?

    Hi Dana. I'm hoping to move Texas in a year or two for a new fresh start. At first I considered living in Dallas because of the job opportunities and have a cousin who lives there. But I am considering looking into living near Dallas, so cost of living isn't too high. I'll likely being looking for an apartment first, then down road I will eventually buy a house once everything falls into place once finances are looking good.

You shared a lot of great tips and advice of someone thinking (including yours truly) of moving to Texas.       If you’re liberal, you’d be most happy in Austin or Houston. Otherwise, you’re pretty much not welcome in Texas

    Don't forget the long periods of drought and water shortages. Some years, there is very little rain and we hover in triple digits for many months. Unfortunately with all the growth in Texas, I don't think we have the water table to sustain a drastic increase in population. The foundation problems were mentioned. As well cracked exteriors with brick homes are common.

    2.8% might be a good general rule of thumb on real estate taxes but my rate is 1.7%.

    Great videos. You definitely gave me a few things to consider. I am transferring to the Grand Prairie area next winter for work and would like to purchase a home. We aren't necessarily liberal but we are African American and gay. What areas are safe for my family? We have 2 small children so we would like an area with great libraries and enrichment activities. This home will be a live in flip.We will only be in the area for 3 years.

    3% prop taxes is outrageous cause thats 3% of say $300K which is a lot higher than my annual income. Id much rather pay an income tax than pay that. Other than that and tornados I LOVE Texas. Overall GOOD video.

    I am a labour nurse in Canada...what hospitals in DFW or Waco have a good reputation for maternity care? Also my husband is an engineer...any firms people would recommend?

      Baylor has a good reputation for maternity care. Also, Lockheed Martin and Bell Helicopter for engineers.

      We have wolf spiders here and we have to have pest control spray to keep them out of our house. They are non-venomous but really ugly.

    I just hope that all the ones who are fleeing these liberal states that have voted their way into the mess they are in. Do not move to conservative states and areas and bring those same type of voting habits to their new state. If they are the ones voting that got them into this problem. If that is the case they should just stay where they are at and fight to clean up that state. Just saying!

    Austin is fun.... But as a whole that city is largely liberal.... Not so much democrat or liberal in a political sense.. Just a do your own thing and don't hassle others.
