Don G. electric locomotives are MUCH more powerful than diesel-electrics. at high speeds, electrics accelerate faster. at lower speeds, acceleration is a function of adhesion; not power.
lol... there's a reason why freight hasn't switched over to electric... Part of it is the need adhesion. Diesels are heavier, so better adhesion for starting those heavy trains. Also, freight speeds aren't nearly as high as passenger speeds, so the extra horsepower is really not needed.
lol...Russians use electric and so do Germans pulling long coal cars, (it's on you tube) adhesion should not be a problem do to the advancement of solid state devices and sensors to detect slippage and a computer can regulate which wheel is slipping on the rails.SCRs or IGFETs can regulate wheel speed through inverters and asynchronous AC motors.
Yes, true. But try selling a huge change like that to companies that are invested in their diesel fleet. The american freight market just isn't ready for a change over to electric just yet.
That's just the frequency profile siemens chose to go with when they designed the locomotive. You can program the inverters to make whatever sounds you want them to.
" You can't feel the power from electric vehicles"
Yeah say it to the ACS 64 broo
Ayyy 624! I remember that was the first ever amtrak train I've got on
Mine as well. Still hauling along nicely
that's a new sound I never heard
It’s the Siemens Traction Motors
Go ride on it in TSW2
They all do that on Amtrak
Its a lot different Than A Diesel Electric Locomotive
This is nothing compared to the Siemens Tourus. The Tourus' traction motors seem to play a musical scale when they accelerate or decelerate
We can also call this an american vectron:)
Just not as pretty sounding...
0:06 is my favorite sound
0:19 is my favorite sound
The OBB Taurus is a bit more musical when pulling away.
The ES64U2 also uses older electronics. The newer electronics do not make that stepped acceleration sound.
@@FanRailer Still a shame, the Taurus always sounded so good.
@@BoaFilmsPlc the Taurus sound was a special wish from the ÖBB 😉
The ES64U4 sounds more similar for ACS64
Sounds like Velaro D
Sounds like Vectron xD
It's based on the Vectron platform so it makes sense ^^
So the SIEMENS ACS-64 uses a VVVF-IGBT inverter system? What traction motors does it use?
Sounds like a freaking plane taking off 😂also 0:16 I can see the e bell! I can never find these on most locos
on p42s look under the right side of the plow thing in the front lol
Sounds like the velaro in the beginning
I see them a lot and they do have a little hum,but I never heard one that loud.
I have a question: aren't electrics as powerful as diesel-electrics, I know they excellerate faster?
Don G. electric locomotives are MUCH more powerful than diesel-electrics. at high speeds, electrics accelerate faster. at lower speeds, acceleration is a function of adhesion; not power.
You better tell the boys from BNSF "cause they think Diesels are more powerful!

American vectron
Awesome sound. Even tho this is a North America version it cannot deny its Siemens European DNA lol
That is my home station.
Sounds like Siemens Desiro Rus (Lastochka) train in Russia
More like the Siemens Vectron.
Long live the new toasters HAHAHAHA GET IT!? Because they look alot like toasters
Nice! What kind of camera do you use its awesome!
NYR2218 I've been using an iPhone 6 since last November (2014).
Fan Railer honestly, I gotta get one of those
God it's awesome
Just like train simulator.
is that a GTO VVVF or an IGBT VVVF?
IGBT. No one orders GTO anymore. That tech is outdated.
slenderman7676 Rblx In fact, GTO isn’t even being made anymore to begin with
@@FanRailer but why it sounds like Mitsubishi GTO-VVVF? because i heard that IGBT-VVVF is more quiet than GTO-VVVF
That's just the frequency profile siemens chose to go with when they designed the locomotive. You can program the inverters to make whatever sounds you want them to.
I asked that too 😆
Sounds distantly like the class 86 but it looks like the class 92.. here’s the class 86 to compare the sound ruclips.net/video/oS3aLeqekeU/видео.html
I have this in HO Scale.
dam
That acceleration is not very good
…it’s not supposed to be good. The train is going right into a speed restricted crossover.
I hate Vectron Sound. 😀 ÖBB 1016/1116 Taurus have the best sound. GTO rules!
This thing sounds *depressing*
This comment is depressing. Time to put up more wires.
