- Finally got the new penn mag 4 and what a reel it is! this reel will suit all anglers and it is a very nice reel to use .. part 2 is coming soon where i put it though a fishing session to see how it copes .. please don't forgot to like and subscribe cheers

Aloha from Maui. 1. I'd recommend watching how we do it out here in Hawai'i, by looking up on RUclips "Ulua Fishing." 2. Have you ever tried casting with an Ulua pole? ...it seems the way you cast looks a little unorthodox, so I feel if you had an Ulua Pole, you would even get further in your cast. 3. Got one ordered to the states. I absolutely love this reel. Caught very large drum on this reel, no problem. 1 4 ft black tip. Shark. Wife caught 54lb black drum. My casting mates her in Texas always come to see the reel. They were like, we’re did that come from, the uk baby 🤙tight lines

Two days ago I bought a Penn Rampage 16 foot rod and matched it with that reel. As soon as the tide and weather suits me I will be out with it👍

Great reel review. I'm getting a couple of the penn 252 mag 4 reel very soon. In you video you mentioned about taking out the blue grease from the reel. Any chance you could do a short video about what you do and what you put in it's place 👍

only thing i would say is there hard to balance mate but that didnt bother me.. deffo clean all the factory grease out and keep a eye on the mag knob as some times they go a bit funny

Most of the negative feedback on the 515 and 525 reels from Pure Fishing, seems due to the plastic housing where the bearing behind the main gear sits, wearing and allowing the knocking in the drive shaft.
Something which isnt a problem with the Fathom mk2 reels. The mechanics inside the 2 reels are the same. Same capacity, same everything other than the handle, and the frame being solid machined metal. Not plastic.
Also not much difference in price between the 2, maybe £10 - £15.
Therefore is a no brainer really.
Take the break of more on the right hand side with mag set to 0 then see if you can't blow it up💯 But good video👍👍
Right hand side ain't a break mate it's center your spool but yeah if you have that all way off it will fly lol ... cheers mate

Mike brill review.never had a multi as always had a fixed spool.but I think after seeing ya review might have to take the miss out for a meal and see if she will treat me for Xmas lol.just a quick question has it got a self leveller on it .
Lol cheers mate.. And no mate this one don't have a leval wind... The Penn 525 don't have them mate a few Abu reels do.. But tbh all they do is slow your reel down.. Its easy to leval mate just need a few hours practice and your be sorted.
Greetings. I was very interested in this coil. Can you please tell me which one is more suitable for loads of 40-70 grams (1.5-2.5 ounces) on a mono-line 0.38 millimeters (17 libres)? The casting range is needed 70-100 meters (75-110 yards), and after casting, you still need to freely release the rig downstream about 80-100 meters (90-110 yards).
Please help me choose between 525 mag4 and 515 mag4. Thank you in advance for your response.

Enjoyed that thank you, have recently changed to using multiplier reels with NO previous experience and have been using ABU’s, with mixed results. My main problem is I’m afraid to give the cast to much welly, but this looks like worth giving a go.
Hi mate... I have found out by slowly building up your casts you get the fill of your reel... But also if its running to fast a turn on your mags on will stop that mate.. Then when your ready take the mags off... Your be fine mate.

No probs mate... I haven't cast one but it should just be the same as the 525 mate it's just a smaller frame and spool... So it should be fine to cast and start with.

Hi, just thought I’d give you an update! Went out with the new reel yesterday and no problems straight out of the box but didn’t release the mags to far but it was great! Thanks Chris

Cleaned out and oiled up with yellow rocket fuel, these reels run FAST lol.
Have a 515mag2 that i take with me in my bag as a spare reel, and that is a really good casting rod with 0.32mm line and leader👍👍
That would have definitely blown up on that last cast if you removed that blue grease.
Still watch this video today, I have just bought one myself today. How's it going a year down the line Micheal? Can I ask did you ever get that degreasing video done this will be the first thing I do, I hate blue grease gunk.

Question. Have they resolved the poor moulding on the drive side that is supposed to support the I.A.R bearing?
If they have then that is a true improvement.

@@micheal-w you will see daylight around the bearing and the housing. The reels wobble themselves to an early grave. I like the honesty of your film and you cast better than most beginners will.
I got my original 525 mags from Neil Mackellow. They were never perfect or bomb proof as some forums will have you believe. But they was a vast improvement over the Abu 6500 when you needed distance in mixed ground or when weed was a problem on a clean beach.
I'm sure its a good beginners reel, but I wouldn't buy it till I'd stripped one down.

Thank you mate appreciate it.. I just use braid my self mate I like mono... The main line is rovex 19lb and the shock leader is a asso tapered leader mate 18 to 70lb I think mate. Cheers

Yes Mate have it full on then when your ready and comfortable you can start turning it down to your ideal setting .. 👍

Very easy mate... Must muity reels are easy you just need some time to get used to them mate.. But as you can see this reel didn't cause no problems mate.. Great stater reel deffo

Wicked mate.. I haven never been a fan of brand but when I did use it I used whiplash mate never let me down. But that was 10 plus years ago... Thees more than likly a better one out now mate

Great review mate, I've never owned a multi before but seriously thinking about giving them ago, would you recommend a 525 mag 4 for a total notice?
Yes I would mate... It just so easy to use mate and think it's a great starter reel but can also be made quicker once you have got used to them..
Being as they are priced almost the same, use the same mag system, same drag.... go for a Fathom. Metal frame rather than plastic, no twist in it, no flex at all. Much better reel overall.

Hi mate.. Play in what way mate like comming in and out of the side plate or to easy to turn mate?
When turning there’s quite a bit of play in between when it’s full mag and the first click if that makes sense? Doesn’t make a whole lot of difference just me being fussy I guess. Wondered if it was normal on the reels
@@olliebunce2506 I will check mine mate but if you take the mag side plate of the screw that holds the mag knob should be viable might just need doing up a bit mate

So have you stripped the reel down yet and checked out the internals? If your going to recommend a reel to anglers who may be new to the game I think you should.
Not yet mate but I will be this week... Going to do a video on that also..i recommend it because a lot of new anglers are scared of them because the birdsnests ect and as you can see from the video it was great and easy to cast... But I will deffo do another video mate
@@micheal-w I'm not having a go at you it's just they do still have problems. You need to check the anti reverse bearing seating and the drive shaft support. The mag 2 and 3 drive shafts just end up wobbling on any reel that has any real use.
Some of them wobble straight out the box.
Like I said from the start I appreciate you making the films to help other anglers.

Thanks for the review, I’ve got the mag 2 and 3 and will give the 4 a go soon. Just out of interest, what do you use as a thumby? Can never seem to find any commercial ones, I use rubber gloves cut up.

Yes mate I didn't wanna do it on this video as wanted it to be out the box.. But I'm taking it all out tomos and getting out fishing with it so we will see what happens lol

@@donbhoy8264 hi mate.. We normally strip them down and add after market grease /oil as when you buy them brand new they ram loads in the reels and its really thick stuff.. So we just remove it to make it run smoother mate..

Great vid as usual , cracking looking reel , i use fixed spool being a newbie , but if i were to switch to this it would the ideal multiplier reel id say, casts like a dream , nice review . Be lucky

Hi mate it don't your palm on the 525 as they have put it up the top and not down the bottom like the fathom Cs so they listed to other anglers from the feedback from that one.

My mag 4 went back after 2 trips because the spool started trying to engage mid cast , I’ve got a magged fathom instead . Was a bit gutted because I liked the look of the reel but I’m glad I’ve got the fathom now though
@@leen8939 that's not good mate.. I am going to see how it is for fishing and not just casting so hopefully stays good.... Fathom is a great reel mate I have a pair..

I would just buy the mag 4 mate as it has a few changes if you shop arould I'm sure your get it at the same price as a mag 3.
