Thank you so much for admitting your reservations using the black fabric; it's not just me that almost allows my dodgy colour fabric decisions to stand lol
So simple it seems like a 'DOH' moment--GREAT idea and explanation. I've used this technique for furniture re-arranging but never thought to apply it to quilting...doh!
Wow! This is the best tutorial I've seen to date on this subject! Wonderful information and well presented. Thanks so much, I will love sharing this with my group, as we often get donations with odd blocks and leftovers, etc. :D
This is wonderful! I would not have known how to start.putting the different size blocks together. Your information and presentation is precise and easy to follow. Thank you!!!!!
I loved this tutorial. It makes so much sense to lay it out on a grid. (I'm also glad you decided to change the black background - it looks so much better in white!) Thanks as always for sharing your talents!
Hello! Great tutorial! I hope this note finds you in good spirits and healthy. I have a busy day in my sewing room and now I'm sewing a little tea mat for my living room end table while I watch you. I hope you have a wonderful evening! Thanks for posting this video!
I really like the practical math you demonstrated with the squares and grid. I agree with you, the white filler spaces look better than the black/dark fabrics from the bundle. You will have some white spaces now to showcase some quilting designs.
I love this! At first I was thinking... a grid to put together some sampler blocks... but I kept watching and everything you did makes total sense to me! I have a few more blocks to create but when I do... this video will be my sherpa for that quilt. Thank you for creating this!
I love this tutorial. I too have a bunch of crumb, orphan, and strip blocks I was wonder what to do with them. Now I have a plan, well at least an idea how to start. Thank you so much.
LOL, I hear your dog. How funny. You need a puppy cam so we can see him/her. I love the white. The black was striking, but it took away from the blocks and just didn't look like it belonged. This will give you tons of room for some fancy quilting.
Thanks so much for this. I have soooo many left over and sample blocks of varying sizes that I struggled to figure out how to use them. Will be sharing this.
I LOVE your videos Megan and you have me sooo excited about quilting again. I haven't been doing much quilting lately but recently inherited a HUGE stash of gorgeous fabrics and all kinds of supplies and was looking for inspiration on what I should jump back in with. I have definitely found the inspiration here and am planning on trying out these blocks in this sampler series. I am really drawn to scrappy style quilts and I think this will be the perfect way to play with a bunch of different fabrics and express my creativity!
You are an amazing teacher. And this process for orphan blocks is genious! I can't thank you enough. I just love binge watching your videos while I sew. I'm pretty sure I am watching more than I am sewing though... My "to do" list is getting a lot longer than my "Tah Dah" done list! Haha ha!
Thanks SO much for this video!! The first pieced wall hanging with photos on cloth was put in a box in garage before I could finish it. I found it recently and mice had eaten several holes in it. Luckily not on photo squares. I had graphed it out several times and was stumped. I am going to fix this tonight!
Fantastic & very much appreciated! BUT the block you labeled 10x10 bc it is below a 10x10 is actually 10x12 & there are 2" missing on either side of that 10x10. I haven't done the math on your sample, that one just caught my mathy brain. I'm in a fb group doing my 2nd asymmetrical quilt this year so I've been learning how the admin designs these BOM & spacers into a quilt for us. You have now made this amazingly easy & I shared this video in that group plus 2 more. I'm fairly new to your channel (have only watched 5 or 6 videos) and I'm really liking how your simplify things! PS have you considered making designed spacers or patterned fabric matching a block instead of all a single background color? PSS Dutchman's Puzzle is my favorite & also orange! Many Blessings from Deborah in West Virginia!
The way you break down the process is understandable and doable, thank you
Thank you so much for admitting your reservations using the black fabric; it's not just me that almost allows my dodgy colour fabric decisions to stand lol
I’m glad you replaced the black. Makes more sense now. Now I have to check and see if I have enough orphan blocks to do this!
Wow! Amazeballs!! You are so talented!!
Great job! I'm glad you are happy with it. I would have changed those darks also.
I like the idea of shuffling little bits of paper - so much easier than trying to lay out the actual blocks!
I was feeling the same way about the black and was soo thrilled when u came back on and said u were taking it out !
This is marvelous.

You have become my go to when I want to revise my methods. You really explain things in a way that is easy to follow, thank you very much!
The quilt looks great, I'm pleased you removed the black blocks, your tutorials are easy to follow and I love all your drawings, thank you

Great information. Thank you Megan for taking the time to share your process with us!!

Wow! I always wanted to do a sampler…thanks

I always learn such interesting things from you. I love your application of math to quilting….not everyone sees it from that perspective.
This makes so much sense! Thanks for explaining it so clearly!

Thank you Megan. Your quilt is fabulous and your tutorial is well presented and very informative!
I have so many orphan blocks that I wanted something to do with them but couldn’t figure out how - thank you so much - this has helped me so much!
I'm so glad! Its a great method for me so I can get all those background rectangles cut and ready to go! :)
Always enjoy your videos but this one is exceptional! You’re explanation of the quilt “math” was spot on. Thanks so much.
What a great plan to organize sampler blocks. Thanks for sharing 👍❤️😊
Great tutorial. The paper arranging was fun and so useful!
such great ideas!
Your videos are the best! Thanks for making everything so clear and doable. Can’t wait to put a quilt together using your method.
Thanks so much for this. I have soooo many left over and sample blocks of varying sizes that I struggled to figure out how to use them. Will be sharing this.
What a great way to fit the blocks together! I will try your technique. Thanks for sharing.

Please tell me where you got you seam guiding apparatus. Thank you
You are amazing. Thank you. I am going to start a quilt to use up my orphan blocks too
Happy Easter to you and your family! ❤️😊

Awesome quilt and great tutorial thank you 🙂
But as soon as I saw the dark I knew you would be ripping it out .... So worth the effort in the long run
I love this plan. Thank you for sharing.
Sooooo pretty!!!
I have so many orphans!!
💗You are timely with the ideas💗
Praying for you, sweet girl:)
Magical!
This was so interesting and informative. Thank you!
This is such a great method! I love it j! Thank you so very much for providing the chart and squares to go with it!
Thank you so much for this! It's genius!
Beautiful quilt!
Thank you! I'm finishing the quilting on it today and its so bright and cheery :)
Thank you so much!! Very helpful process!
Thank you
Brilliant thank you - that is so useful.
This is so helpful!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Genius!
I liked the black. I would have just put a dark border around the quilt to tie the colors in
Love your idea. If you'd like a different idea try Patchwork Facil from two weeks ago she used a bunch of Orphan blocks and Shadow boxed them randomly

My son figured it out for me! I really am thrilled to complete this for my mom for Easter
I just didn’t get it. And, too much math for me. 😂
Beautiful quilt!
