I always interpreted as just a simple way to avoid political conflict. Having Jango not have ties to Mandalore, reduces suspicion. Though there's also the fact in Legends Death Watch, and The True Mandalorians fought against eachother in the civil war. Being that Jango was leader of the True Mandalorians, who were all whipped out, it makes sense why even the more war like Mandalorians wouldn't respect Jango.

In Legends, Jango Fett lost his family by Death Watch and was adopted into a Foundling by Jaster Mereel, the leader of True Mandalorians, a faction who believe Mandalorians should be hired mercenaries & honorable warriors, instead of raiders & conquerors that Death Watch believe in.
Unfortunately, the True Mandalorians were extinct because of the Galidraan incident where a governor(who is a cahoot of Death Watch) contacted the Jedi Order and tricked them that the True Mandalorians are killing civilians. Only Jango survived and killed several Jedi with bare hands which led his hatred against Jedi. This incident led some of the Jedi to leave the Order. Among them is Master Dooku, the future Count of Serenno, leader of Separatist Alliance & a Sith Lord Darth Tyrannus. The Jedi Order did turn the two characters into a sympathetic villains.

Another of Mace’s emotional failings is in his dealing with Boba.. “Well you’re going to have to” is NOT the answer you give a child who watched you kill his father yet STILL acknowledges that his response was wrong.
Boba *could* have been brought to the light, but yet again Mace is too detached from empathy he’s unable to understand the darkness he brings to others.
Im starting to think it *wasnt* a grudge against Anakin that strained their relationship, but more-so just that one struggled with his passions/emotional attachments while the other was entirely incapable of understanding either at all

It was originally confirmed in the comic jango fett: open seasons which was a prequel to the jango fett game as well as a jango origin comic. Deathwatch also made its first appearance in it. But after Disney said everything in the old expanded universe was non canon it became very vague and debated whether or not he was a mandalorian. Especially with that scene in clone wars where almec says he was a “common bounty hunter”
It was smart on lucasfilms part to recanonize jangos mandalorian backstory instead of making a new one just to be different

Jango being my favorite character, that was my favorite part of Season 2 of The Mandalorian. They basically canonized Jango’s Open Seasons books, which are my favorite Star Wars books btw. I’m guessing that was Filoni’s idea and recommendation. Filoni’s always been a huge Jango fan. We deserve more Jango content, whether it’s a movie, series, or even flashbacks. The Journal of Jango Fett, but please put Filoni in charge of it instead of the ones behind The Book of Boba Fett. Jango has one of the greatest backstories and legacies in Star Wars imo. I also find it funny and ironic that he was born in 66 BBY. Not sure if it has any connection with Order 66, but it’s the perfect birth year for him. Haha
